New figures from the Associated General Contractors of America show that the US construction industry added 11,000 jobs in June, with employment increasing by 64,000 over the past 12 months. The strongest growth came from the commercial and infrastructure sectors, which added 113,400 jobs year-on-year. Heavy and civil engineering also continued to expand, while construction wages rose 4.8% over the past year, remaining ahead of the wider private sector. Construction job openings reached a 10-month high in May, with the industry recording 298,000 open positions, according to the latest data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
