Stories of companies rehiring workers after AI-attributed layoffs have raised an important question: Are these isolated cases, or the beginning of a broader labor market shift? Our Principal Researcher, Mark Howison, went to the data to find out. A few takeaways stood out: 📉 There isn't clear evidence of a broad hiring rebound across AI-exposed sectors—at least not yet. 📊 AI-exposed sectors experienced a much sharper hiring correction over the past four years than lower-exposure sectors. 🏢 One interesting shift: on-site hiring appears to be stabilizing, while remote job postings continue to decline in AI-exposed industries. Perhaps the most interesting takeaway is that the next phase of AI may not be about restoring the jobs that disappeared, but recomposing work into new roles, new skills, and new ways of working. It's a thoughtful, data-driven look at a conversation that's often dominated by anecdotes. 👉Check out Mark’s Article: https://lnkd.in/d-8ZXrsi #FutureOfWork #ArtificialIntelligence #WorkforceDevelopment #LaborMarket #AI

We're still in Horizons Summit, presented by JFF recovery mode. A few days spent with people who care deeply about the future of workforce development leaves you with a full notebook, fresh ideas, and a renewed sense of purpose. One message has stayed with us. As our CEO Hamoon Ekhtiari shared on the main stage: "We're thinking too small, moving too slowly, and building in silos. It’s time to be audacious in the bets we make to solve these challenges at scale." That message will stay with us long after Horizons. It challenges all of us to think beyond incremental change, work across systems instead of silos, and make bold investments in solutions that can improve outcomes at scale. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the FutureFit AI Café, joined one of our video interviews (more to come!), attended Hamoon’s mainstage session, or simply took the time to connect with our team. We appreciated every conversation. We're energized by what's ahead and grateful to be building alongside a community that's committed to creating a more connected, more effective workforce system. #WorkforceDevelopment, #FutureOfWork, #WorkforceInnovation, #CareerNavigation, #AI, #JFFHorizons

Degrees, job titles, and linear career paths no longer tell the full story of a person's potential or an employer's needs. As labor markets evolve, workforce systems are being challenged to create new ways of identifying talent, build skills, and support career mobility. That's why we're excited that our Co-Founder and CEO, Hamoon Ekhtiari, will be joining the main stage at Horizons Summit, presented by JFF on July 14 in Washington, DC for "Creating Career Mobility in the Age of AI." Alongside Raghu Krishnaiah, France Q. Hoang, Lydia Logan, and moderator Meena Naik, the conversation will explore what comes next as organizations rethink how people navigate careers and connect to opportunity. We've seen firsthand how career mobility depends on better visibility, coordination, and shared accountability across workforce systems, including: 👉 A shared view across employers, workforce partners, training providers, and job seekers 👉 Better ways to identify talent and career readiness 👉 Infrastructure that helps coordinate action and measure outcomes We're looking forward to contributing to the conversation about what career mobility looks like in the age of AI. See you at JFF Horizons! #WorkforceDevelopment #CareerMobility #FutureOfWork #AI #JFFHorizons

Canada isn't short of workforce programs. It's short of connective tissue between training, employers, and real job outcomes. With $570M in new federal funding, six Workforce Alliances launching, and a technical recession as backdrop, the pressure to get this right is real. We wrote about what the tariff response gets right, what it leaves open, and where workforce systems have the most room to build. 👇 https://bit.ly/4axsECL #WorkforceDevelopment #CanadaEconomy, #CanadaWorkforce #LabourMarket

Workforce organizations are being asked to do more than ever. Support job seekers with increasingly personalized services. Build stronger employer relationships. Coordinate across partners. Track outcomes. Navigate funding requirements. All while working with limited staff and resources. Yet much of the technology supporting this work wasn't designed for workforce development. So teams do what they can to get by, stitching together spreadsheets, custom tools, and software that was often built for a different purpose. The result is what many of us see every day: ⚠️ Disconnected data ⚠️ Fragmented experiences ⚠️ Too much time spent managing systems instead of helping people We spend a lot of time talking about programs, funding, and services. Another part of the conversation should be whether workforce professionals have the tools they need to do their jobs effectively. Workforce development is a unique challenge. It deserves technology built for workforce development. #WorkforceDevelopment #WorkforceTechnology #EconomicMobility #WorkforceEcosystems #CareerNavigation

In more than 90% of high-demand occupations, training programs aren't producing enough completers to fill open jobs. At the same time, for a small number of occupations, training programs are producing more completers than there are jobs available. Both of these findings point to the same underlying challenge: workforce systems have limited real-time visibility into specific employer needs within their region and limited levers to ensure that talent are well-prepared to fill those roles. We wrote about what the RAND findings reveal and what better alignment could look like for regions doing this work. 👇 https://lnkd.in/gHGtjd5W #WorkforceDevelopment #WIOA #TalentMarketplace #WorkforceInnovation #EconomicMobility

In a time of rapid economic change and workforce transformation, a critical question is emerging: Can AI be an effective career coach? In a recent feature for The Globe and Mail, Vaishnavy Gupta, VP, Canada for FutureFit AI, explores this important issue and what it means for workers, career practitioners, and workforce systems. Our view: yes, but only when AI is designed to enhance human guidance, not replace it. The labour market is overflowing with information about jobs, skills, career pathways, and employer demand. The challenge isn't access to data, it's turning that information into meaningful, personalized guidance that helps people make confident decisions about their future. That's why we believe this conversation goes beyond career coaching. The real opportunity lies in using AI to help workforce systems become more responsive, coordinated, and aligned with evolving labour market needs. All while empowering individuals with better insights, clearer pathways, and more informed choices. Proud to see Vaishnavy contributing to this important discussion about the future of work, career mobility, and workforce development.
