A challenge that exists everywhere but is perhaps nowhere more evident than here in Washington, every priority competes with another. The hardest decisions aren't what to do. They're what to do first, what to do simultaneously, and how to sequence everything else. Joining C-SPAN's Washington Journal today in my role as a Visiting Senior Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, one theme came up repeatedly. #Iran, #Russia, and #Ukraine do not exist in isolation. Neither do #China, the midterm elections, or the many other issues competing for policymakers' attention. Every decision involves tradeoffs in time, resources, attention, and risk. That reality will be on display in Washington this week, with leaders from both Ukraine and #Israel in town, placing several of today's most pressing national security issues in one city at one time.
