What a way to spend a summer morning 🍞🍇! Last week, Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz brought together summer associates, interns, and paralegals for a Grassroots Grocery Great Sandwich Race. Together, they prepared more than 1,100 sandwiches, which were distributed through community partners serving neighbors throughout the Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. It was inspiring to see the next generation of legal professionals begin their careers by giving back to the community. Helping clients solve complex problems is what Evercore's Private Capital Advisory team does every day. Last week, they took on a very different challenge. On Thursday, 50+ colleagues came together in their Midtown office for a Grassroots Grocery Great Sandwich Race, preparing 2,187 sandwiches for distribution through 14 community partners serving neighbors throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. One conference room. One Tuesday morning. 600+ sandwiches for neighbors across New York City! On Tuesday morning, Gunderson Dettmer brought together its New York summer associates and affinity groups for a Grassroots Grocery Great Sandwich Race. Together, they prepared more than 600 sandwiches for distribution through six community partners serving neighbors throughout the Bronx and Manhattan. Last Tuesday, two of our youngest volunteers stood on the field at Citi Field. Not because they play for the Mets, but because they volunteer. Grassroots Grocery had the incredible honor of accepting the New York Mets Spirit Award during Together Tuesday, thanks to our technology partners at Fundraise Up and Stripe. As part of Be The People, Together Tuesday celebrates local community care and radical generosity. Seeing two young volunteers represent Grassroots Grocery on the field felt exactly right. This is the future we’re working to build. Where young people grow up knowing that making a difference isn’t an add-on, but a part of who they are. Shoutout to Rory, longtime volunteer, along with Grassroots Grocery team members Alexandra, Julia, Tohidul, and Bryon, who were cheering from the stands. Having our volunteers and team there together made the evening even more meaningful. The Mets Spirit Award may have had Grassroots Grocery’s name on it, but it belongs to every volunteer who keeps showing up for their neighbors. #NeighborsHelpingNeighbors #BeThePeople

Adam Bernstein first discovered Grassroots Grocery at a Produce Party through his kids' school. After experiencing the impact firsthand, he introduced the Great Sandwich Race to his team at Regeneron. Last week, that idea became a reality. Together, the team prepared more than 1,400 sandwiches, which were delivered to 12 community partners serving neighbors throughout New York. A huge thank you to Adam for championing the idea and bringing it to his team, and to Joseph, Doris, Evelyn, Gabe, Marie, and James for helping make Regeneron's first Great Sandwich Race such a success. As we conclude our services for this fiscal year, I am delighted to share that we have successfully provided fruits and vegetables to an additional 60 families. Over the past 12 months, we have had the privilege of serving over 3900 families through our fruit and vegetable programs, wellness workshops, and special events. Four years ago, Jessie LaMasse made sandwiches with us at BlackRock. Last week, she brought her whole office! I met Jessie back in 2022, when the Great Sandwich Race was barely a thing. She watched it grow into the event it is today. When she moved to MSCI Inc. and joined the New York Philanthropic Committee, she championed bringing it in-house. On Wednesday, MSCI Inc. hosted its first-ever Grassroots Grocery Great Sandwich Race. The whole office showed up and made 1,500+ sandwiches, delivered the same day to neighbors across the Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Thank you Jessie LaMasse, Annie Kojundzija, Meeta Patel, Kristal Brantley and the whole MSCI team for showing what an office can do when it comes together.
