Bringing Families Closer Together by Creating Memories Worth Repeating®

About us

Our story began over 75 years ago when the Herschend family discovered wonder deep in an Ozark Mountain cave—and chose to share it with the world. Today, Herschend is the largest family-held themed attractions company, with over 40 family entertainment brands across North America. While each brand offers something unique, all are united by a shared purpose: bringing families closer together by Creating Memories Worth Repeating®. Our 22,000 passionate hosts make this purpose possible through everyday acts of love and service—what we call Heartspitality®—the intersection of heart and hospitality. We’re proud to love in all we do, every day—caring for each other, welcoming our 20 million annual guests with warmth, and making a positive difference in the communities we serve.

  • We’re proud to celebrate our team at Newport Aquarium and the talented students at Springer School and Center in Cincinnati, who brought conservation education to life in such a creative way. With support from the Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub, these students transformed recyclable materials into a beautiful re-creation of Denver, one of Newport Aquarium’s beloved resident turtles. This project is a wonderful reminder that caring for our planet starts with curiosity, creativity, and hands-on experiences that help young people see the impact they can make. Congratulations to everyone involved in this special collaboration. We can’t wait for guests to see Denver’s recycled-material twin and be inspired to “seas” the summer!

Handmade by the incredible students at Springer School and Center in Cincinnati, this masterpiece was created entirely from recyclable materials, thanks to the Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub. • As America marks 250 years of independence, we pause to celebrate the freedoms, hopes, and shared ideals that have brought generations of families together. We're honored to create places where people gather for the kind of moments that remind us what it means to be part of something bigger than ourselves. From all of us at Herschend, Happy Independence Day. 🇺🇸 May your day be filled with love, joy, and memories worth repeating.

  • Congratulations to our hosts at Kentucky Kingdom on the opening of Flying Fox! At 1,380 feet of track, a top speed of 37 mph, and a max height of 65 feet, Flying Fox, a Vekoma Rides coaster, creates family-friendly thrills accessible to riders 38 inches and taller. Flying Fox represents the next chapter of a three-year, $33 million investment in the park. The journey began with the introduction of Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom in 2022 and continued with the $8 million debut of Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom in 2024, turning the park into a sparkling Christmas destination complete with more than 1.5 million lights, 300+ Christmas trees, and the state's largest snow tubing hill. In 2025, the park opened Discovery Meadow, an $11 million fully reimagined land featuring new rides, attractions, and dining that set a new standard for immersive, family-friendly experiences. Now, the $14 million investment in Flying Fox cements Kentucky Kingdom's place as the region's premier family entertainment destination.

  • Today, we pause to remember the heroes who gave their all for our freedom. Every morning at Silver Dollar City Parks & Resorts, our flag-raising ceremony serves as a quiet, yet powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by those who served. As the stars and stripes rise above the park, we reflect on the courage, valor, and legacy of those we honor today, and every day. May their memory be eternal, and may we live each day in recognition of their gift. From all of us at Herschend, thank you to our heroes. 🇺🇸

  • This past weekend, Kennywood Park celebrated two 50-year careers! Moments like this are a reflection of culture at its best: people who care deeply about their work, about each other, and about the guests they serve every day. It speaks to the pride that comes from creating joy and memories that families carry with them for generations. Thank you to these incredible hosts whose stories are part of what makes Kennywood so special. 💛 💙

Today was a powerful day as we celebrated the incredible 50-year careers of Larry Russ, a longtime staple in our security department, and Bobby Trygar, a key fixture in our maintenance crew. We also recognized the career of Joe Barron, who retired as HR Director in 2023 after 51 years of service, and the Henninger and McSwigan families, who owned and operated Kennywood for more than a century. Larry, Bobby, Joe and the Henninger and McSwigan families each received a park bench dedicated in their name to honor their legacies of service. Also in attendance were State Sen. Nick Pisciottano and State Rep. John Inglis, who presented citations from both Pennsylvania chambers in recognition of these amazing careers; and Gerald Rakestraw our Regional President. Gerald presented Larry and Bobby custom-blown glass pieces from Silver Dollar City, our sister park. On the pieces, the two rising forms become intertwined, symbolizing the journey of the employee and park growing together over five decades. Let's go back to the special benches. As explained at this morning's ceremony: There is something special about a Kennywood bench. They are places where families gather, friends laugh and little moments become lifelong memories. Like a Kennywood bench, Larry, Bobby, Joe and both families were and are a steady presence, source of comfort and part of the foundation that has supported Kennywood and its people. Long after today, guests and Hosts will pass by these benches, pause for a moment, and be reminded that Kennywood's story was shaped by people and families Larry, Bobby, Joe, the Henningers and McSwigans who gave so much of themselves to Kennywood and our community. Their legacy will forever have a place in Kennywood.
