🚀 Over the past few weeks, we had the opportunity to go through the National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps program at UMass Chan Medical School – and it fundamentally changed how we think about building a startup. The biggest shift wasn’t product. It was process. As part of the program, we conducted 20+ customer discovery interviews across Pharma, CROs, and research institutions – speaking directly with the people who live these workflows every day. A few things that stood out 👇 1️⃣ Startups don’t fail because of technology, they fail because they build without truly understanding the customer 2️⃣ There’s a big difference between who uses a product and who actually pays for it 3️⃣ Real validation comes from listening for patterns in problems, not pitching solutions The I-Corps framework forces you to: ▪️ Get out of your comfort zone and talk to real users and decision-makers ▪️ Continuously test and refine your assumptions ▪️ Think more rigorously about customer segments, value, and business models Grateful to the I-Corps team and everyone who shared their time and insights 🙏 Still early in the journey, but this experience has been incredibly valuable in shaping how we approach customer discovery and business building. 🚀🚀 Excited to share that LabOps Inc. has been accepted into the I-Corps Program at the UMass Center for Clinical & Translational Science!
