About us

Mead & Hunt provides clients with expert planning, architecture design, engineering, environmental and construction administration services across a wide variety of market sectors, including transportation (aviation, highways, roads and bridges), food and beverage processing, renewable energy, municipal infrastructure, military, telecommunications, cultural resources, and hydropower and water resources. In each of these disciplines, we’ve developed unique methodologies and processes to deliver cost-saving solutions that meet our clients’ needs. At Mead & Hunt, we approach each project as an opportunity for innovation – and we believe that innovation in any field begins with the same step: listening. That’s why we build strong relationships with our clients, insist on cross-disciplinary collaboration and support continuing education. The result? Over a century of engineering and architectural solutions that have resulted in everything from cost-saving efficiencies to proprietary processes. We take great pride in not only what we do, but how we do it. Serving markets nationwide for more than 125 years, we’ve demonstrated our technical, design and planning expertise. But what makes us different is that we don’t measure our success in years or projects or revenue. Instead, it’s measured in your satisfaction. The employee-owned consulting firm remains strong on ENR's Top 500 Design Firm list with a national ranking of #82 in 2026. The firm employs over 1,400 civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, planners, historic preservationists, environmental scientists, architects, technicians and support specialists from 50+ offices located across the nation. • Our founder Daniel Mead believed a well-engineered dam could mean the difference between a struggling town and a thriving community. 💧 The Kingsford Hydroelectric Dam is part of that story. When Mead & Hunt acquired Orbison & Orbison in 1980, we inherited decades of regional hydroelectric expertise, going on to become one of the Midwest's leading firms for dam safety inspections, hydroelectric rehabilitation, and new hydro projects. 125+ years later, we're still supporting the communities that need us most.

  • That's a wrap on Florida Week. 🌴   This week, we shared stories from across the Sunshine State, highlighting the people and projects helping communities navigate growth and build a more resilient future.   From coast to coast, our teams are partnering with clients to strengthen infrastructure and support these growing communities for the long term.   Thanks for following along with us this week. ☀️🦀🐊⛱️ Stay tuned to see where we're headed next!   #MHinFlorida #FloridaInfrastructure

  • From Key Largo to Key West, the Florida Keys rely on infrastructure that keeps communities connected.   Over the years, our teams have contributed to work across the Keys, from airport improvements at EWI and rehabilitation of the Heritage Trail to utility consulting services supporting critical wastewater systems at Naval Air Station Key West. As we grow our footprint in Florida we're proud to support the communities that make it unique. ✈️ 🛣️ 💧 #MHinFlorida

  • Renewable energy got a major boost in Southern Florida. 🌴⚡ We partnered with Nopetro Energy to deliver the region's first landfill gas-to-renewable natural gas facility in Vero Beach, preventing the equivalent of 30,000 metric tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere every year. That's the same as taking 4,300 passenger cars off the road. Our teams are growing across the state, delivering infrastructure that makes a real difference for the communities we serve. #MHinFlorida Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eXBvUkwF

  • Earlier this month, we joined the City of DeLand to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the Wiley M. Nash Water Reclamation Facility Expansion, a transformative investment in the region’s future. This $90M+ project: ✅ Increased capacity from 6 to 8 MGD, with expansion potential to 13 MGD ✅ Upgraded the facility to Advanced Wastewater Treatment standards ✅ Reduced nutrient impacts to Blue Spring and the St. Johns River ✅ Supports long-term growth and improved water quality Delivered over years of planning and construction, while the facility remained fully operational, this project showcases what’s possible through strong collaboration and a shared commitment to sustainability. #MHinFlorida
