Creating a globally competitive Milwaukee region that fosters high-value employment to sustain a vibrant quality of life
About us
Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce’s (MMAC) vision is to create a globally competitive region that fosters high-value employment to sustain a vibrant quality of life for all. For more than 160 years, we have served area businesses as a private, not-for-profit organization. Today we represent nearly 2,000 member businesses with 300,000+ employees in Metro Milwaukee and beyond. Mirroring the region's business breakdown, more than 80% of our members are small businesses, employing 1 to 100 employees, while nearly all the region's Fortune 500 & Forbes 1000 are also members. United around the goal of ensuring long-term prosperity for both the community and its individual businesses, our engaged leaders take action and get results on impactful regional projects including Fiserv Forum, The Avenue, and American Family Field. Chamber membership provides access to numerous programs and perks, but at its core, you are investing in: TALENT: MMAC has been a long-time leader in building the region’s talent pipeline, especially for underserved and disadvantaged populations. We provide ad-hoc events and expert content supporting talent/workforce programming across an organization. EQUITY: Two years ago, MMAC launched a Region of Choice initiative, seeking to expand the number of Black and Hispanic employees and managers in Milwaukee-area companies. To date, 120 employers, representing more than 119,000 employees, have made the pledge to increase their overall Black and Hispanic workforce representation. GROWTH: We compete every day with regions around the country, and the world, to attract business investment and talent through the Milwaukee 7 (M7) Partnership for Economic Development. LIVABILITY: MMAC advocates on behalf of transformational projects that enhance the region’s quality of life, while seeking common-sense public policy solutions to ensure that challenges such as high property taxes, do not derail the region’s long-term future.

The 2026 Ignite the Spark Award celebrates 10 Milwaukee educators who are making a lasting impact on students' lives. Meet the Milwaukee artist behind the award, Desharr Saddler, whose own teachers helped shape his creative journey. “It truly means a lot to me to be able to give back to teachers, who are often the unsung heroes of our community. Looking back, I can see the direct impact of educators who believed in me, challenged me and encouraged me to keep creating,” said Saddler. “The influence they have on us as children and teens stays with us throughout our entire lives. I hope this piece can serve as a small token of gratitude to those being honored and a reflection of the difference they make.” Read the full story ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gmUDsTRr

What happens when a technical regulatory decision threatens billions of dollars in investment, thousands of jobs and Wisconsin’s long-term economic competitiveness? That’s the question MMAC President & CEO Dale Kooyenga explores in his latest Milwaukee Journal Sentinel op-ed. While the debate centers on financial requirements for large energy users, the broader issue is whether Wisconsin is positioning itself to compete for the investments shaping the future economy. The stakes extend beyond data centers in Port Washington and Mount Pleasant - they touch jobs, tax base growth and opportunities for communities across the state. Wisconsin can protect ratepayers while remaining open to investment. We don't have to choose between the two.
