As healthcare evolves, so must the measures used to evaluate quality and performance. NCQA is preparing to open a public comment period on the proposed retirement of select HEDIS® measures for Measurement Year 2027. These proposals are part of NCQA’s ongoing effort to ensure HEDIS remains focused on measures that are meaningful, actionable and aligned with the future of quality measurement. As clinical practices, evidence and data sources change, some measures may no longer provide strong signals for improvement, accountability or benchmarking. Regular curation helps keep the HEDIS measure set relevant while reducing unnecessary reporting burden. Public comment is a critical part of this process. Feedback from plans, providers, researchers and other stakeholders helps inform discussions and final decisions about the future of quality measurement. The public comment period will run from August 3–17.
