📣 Yesterday Bushwick (Brooklyn) community leaders, elected officials, and clean energy advocates gathered with the Sane Energy Project and NineDot Energy to unveil our future ~5 megawatt battery energy storage facility that, when completed, will power nearly 5,000 homes during peak hours. 🌎 The event marked the transition from fighting new fossil fuel infrastructure to building needed clean energy solutions for New York. 🙌 Among the leaders declaring their support for this site were Assembly Member Maritza Davila, Assembly Member Emily Gallagher, State Senator Julia Salazar, Assembly Member and Democratic Nominee for NY-7 Claire Valdez, Council Member Jennifer Gutiérrez, and Lydia Wiener, Policy Advisor, Clean Energy at the NYC Mayor's Office of Climate & Environmental Justice, along with advocacy partner groups including WE ACT for Environmental Justice, Solar One, the Utility Customers Association, and New Yorkers for Clean Power. 🔋 “Today showed us what years of defiant community organizing can accomplish. ☀️ Recent heat waves remind us how important battery energy storage is across the country. So last week NineDot's Manager of Policy and Regulatory Affairs, Ion Simonides, joined a panel at the Solar Energy Industries Association's RE+ Storage conference in Sacramento, CA on the "State of the States: Energy Storage Policy Overview". 🔋 The panel kicked off day one of the conference, setting the stage with a review of several states' progress in developing energy storage policy and deploying projects. Ion spoke to the work NineDot is doing in a number of states, including Illinois, Maryland and New Jersey, to advocate for tariff-based grid services programs that provide a value stack of revenue streams for battery energy storage projects. ✅ Programs like these are critical to the development of sustainable, long-term distributed energy storage markets that will help states reach their energy storage deployment goals. #batterystorage #distributedenergyresources #bess

⌛ The wait is over! 💥 We're excited to announce that on Monday night NineDot Energy was named one of the top three finalists for the Reuters Global Energy Industry Awards "Socially Reponsible Project" category. Last week the NineDot team was excited to participate at the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce Energy Summit, where the focus across panels was on how to deploy the solutions ASAP that are necessary to help meet the City’s reliability, affordability, and environmental energy goals.
