Solar and storage are stepping up to meet rising electricity demand because they are low-cost, customizable, and fast-to-deploy. These 6 new records set in 2026 prove it: 1. Solar and storage made up 91% of all new grid capacity added in Q1 2026 2. For the first time ever, solar generated more electricity than coal 3. California batteries discharged nearly 13 GW in a single evening, covering 44% of demand 4. California smashed its solar generation record, with 23 GW covering 72% of afternoon demand 5. Texas set four records of its own, including renewables meeting a record 79% of electricity demand in March 6. In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, we’re giving a spotlight to Onyx’s 250th project: LEGOLAND® California!   Onyx designed, built, owns, and operates onsite solar and energy storage assets that support the Carlsbad, CA theme park with cleaner, more resilient energy. Switched on in June 2025, the system includes: ☀️ A 1.73 MW solar array across rooftops and carports 🔋 A 2,409 kWh battery storage system providing up to two hours of backup power The result: more predictable energy costs and greater energy resilience for critical operations and family fun - even during grid disruptions. Food waste is the largest contributor to U.S. landfills and a major driver of methane emissions. Yet in New York City, only a small percentage of organic waste is currently composted. Last month, the Onyx team partnered with Earth Matter NY on Governors Island to support local composting efforts and advance more sustainable waste practices. Employees from Onyx’s Environmental “E” Group helped tend to their lavender field and toured a composting facility that processes hundreds of tons of organic material each year.
