The report “Glass Half Full: Building a Decarbonized US Power Sector” published by MIT - Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research assesses how much the current policy environment preserves the benefits of the prior policy environment, situates those modeled results within the real-world forces shaping delivery, and draws out what the findings imply for future policy priorities and public spending. Key suggestions: 🔹 The Glass is more than Half Full: across the three dimensions of power-sector decarbonization – clean electricity, fossil electricity, and emissions reductions and the substantial majority of the IRA trajectory’s benefits remain under the OBBBA scenario. 🔹 The clean shortfall concentrates in a few mature technologies, with onshore wind comprising the majority of it and being the sole metric that fails the Glass Half Full test. 🔹 The OBBBA scenario’s larger emissions come from higher fossil utilization and a dirtier fleet composition, not new fossil buildout. 🔹 The Glass Half Full result matters because it suggests that the next era of policy should seek to be additive to existing policy, not rebuild what was lost. 🔗 Read more and access the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gJ4KYw4j #EnergyTransition #CleanEnergy #PowerSector #Decarbonisation #ClimatePolicy #USenergy

The Government of Indonesia has unveiled plans to develop a 194 km Green Hydrogen Corridor linking Jakarta, Karawang and Patimban as part of its strategy to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy and strengthen national energy security. Brookfield has launched Lumara Energy, a new renewable energy platform focused on accelerating the development and construction of renewable energy projects. The platform aims to address key market bottlenecks, including delays in power purchase agreement contracting, slow grid connection queues, and prolonged land acquisition timelines. Ark Energy Corporation has reached a final investment decision (FID) for the $1.3 billion Richmond Valley solar farm & battery energy storage system (BESS) in New South Wales, Australia. The project will be supported by a financing package comprising $586 million in equity and $716 million in debt.
