"This device is trying to finally replace the walkie talkie" - Fast Company

About us

Relay is the smarter, modern alternative to outdated radios. Millions of frontline workers still rely on static channels and clunky devices that weren’t built for today’s pace of work. Relay replaces them with a voice-first platform that delivers real-time translation in 30+ languages, GPS tracking, panic alerts, and seamless WiFi + cellular coverage. It’s the radio of the future—trusted across hospitality, manufacturing, logistics, and more to keep teams connected, included, and moving fast. Our mission is to empower the people who keep the world running—with technology that makes their jobs safer, easier, and more connected.

Food safety is back in the headlines. And the conversation keeps circling the same fix: break down the silos between quality, safety, and production. But that doesn't happen in a policy doc. It happens on the floor—in the seconds after an issue surfaces, when responsibility has to move across three teams at once. Lose that handoff to a congested channel or a shift change, and the response slows at the worst possible moment. That's a communication problem, not a paperwork problem. The sign-offs, drain tests, and LOTO steps already happening on the floor? Routine radio comms can be automatically timestamped to create a digital trail, while location tracking shows exactly where resources are deployed. No new screens. No behavior change. Just a clear record of who communicated what, and where. We broke down the food safety gap most teams overlook, and exactly how to close it. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/eQzGMfun

Frontline manufacturing workers notice things. A machine that sounds different. A process that's slightly off. A recurring issue that keeps coming back. But if reporting that observation means stopping production, navigating a cumbersome system, or enduring high-friction workflows, it becomes less likely that a worker will report the issue with the timeliness and attention needed. That's not a character flaw. It's a communication failure. And it's one of the most underappreciated safety risks on the factory floor today. Gallup's 2026 State of the Global Workplace report found only 17% of frontline manufacturing employees are engaged. And with engagement low, safety suffers — not because workers don't care, but because the systems around them make it hard to stay connected. I wrote about what manufacturers can do to address this in @Quality Digest. https://lnkd.in/eCUq6v-K

Only 17% of frontline manufacturing employees are engaged at work. That's not just a workforce problem. It's a safety problem. Our CEO Chris Chuang broke down why disengagement on the factory floor creates dangerous blind spots and what manufacturers can do about it. The core issue isn't that workers don't care. It's that most communication systems were never designed for the shop floor. When critical information doesn't flow freely, safety concerns go unreported, early warning signals disappear, and the cost is measured in near-misses, injuries, and downtime. Read the full byline on Quality Digest for 5 practical steps manufacturers can take to narrow the frontline engagement gap — starting with auditing how information actually reaches frontline workers. Somewhere in your guest journey, there's friction your guest feels before your team does. Finding it before it costs you a review, a rebooking, or a reputation is exactly what this conversation is about. Join Relay's Nadeem Elborno, Molly Preston of Pyramid Global Hospitality, and Lisa Cain, Ph.D. of FIU on July 30 for a candid discussion on what separates luxury properties that perform from the ones that just look like they do. They'll pull back the curtain on where friction hides in a luxury operation, what high-performing properties invest in that others don't, and how to know exactly where your guest journey needs work. On a food production floor, the difference between a contained incident and an escalated one usually comes down to one thing: whether the right message got through. Most facilities have solid safety procedures. What they're missing is the infrastructure to execute them when it counts: in high-noise environments, under pressure, and across a floor that was never designed with radio signals in mind. The result? Communication gaps that safety procedures alone can't close. When a worker can't reach the right person fast enough, the situation escalates — and in food production, the margin for error is too thin to absorb that difference. Our latest blog breaks down why communication is the overlooked liability in your F&B operations, and what closing that gap actually looks like. Link in comments. 👇

Automate Show 2026 is officially in the books 📚 If there’s one major takeaway from the showroom floor this year, it’s this: your automation is fast, so your response should be too. When a line goes down and automation can't self-recover, seconds matter. Yet, too many plants are still relying on slow email alerts, dashboard-gazing, or chaotic radio traffic to find help. That is the exact gap Relay closes. We loved connecting with so many manufacturing and operations leaders at our booth last week. Did we miss you? Comment below to continue the conversation. 👇

Beyond the office and into the community. 📦❤️ Our interns and managers spent Intern Impact Day at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC, packing boxes for elderly community members and showing up in the most meaningful way. Watching this group come together, laughing, working hard, and genuinely caring, was a reminder of what an incredible culture we get to be a part of every day. This is what being Committed to the Mission looks like in action, doing what it takes to make lives safer, smarter, and more connected. Thank you to every intern and manager who gave their time and heart. THIS is what impact looks like. 😊 #InternImpactDay #CommittedToTheMission #FoodBankOfCentralAndEasternNC #Volunteers #ServantLeadership #GivingBack #Imwithrelay #BWIML

High-volume spikes don't create language barriers; they just expose the communication gaps already quietly slowing down your daily operations. Under that pressure, those hidden friction points quickly snowball: ❌ Housekeeping updates miss the front desk. ❌ Urgent maintenance requests get lost in the handoff. ❌ Supervisors burn out trying to manually translate across teams. The fix? Stop treating multilingual communication as a staffing problem, and start treating it as operational infrastructure. We broke it down in our recent blog. Link in the comments below 👇
