It's National Deflection Week, and the National Sheriffs' Association is proud to collaborate with Police, Treatment, and Community Collaborative (PTACC) to highlight the life-changing impact deflection programs have on individuals, families, and communities. NSA's Chief Law Enforcement Advisor, Mitch Cunningham, heads to Pascagoula, Mississippi, to work with the Mississippi State Department of Health and local law enforcement agencies to support the implementation of a Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) program, helping connect people with resources and support while strengthening public safety through collaboration. #deflection #publicsafety #NationalDeflectionWeek2026

Some children learn courage from storybooks. Law enforcement children often learn it at the kitchen table, through changed plans, missed moments, and the quiet relief of hearing the front door open at the end of a shift. This Law Enforcement Child Month, we honor the strength they carry and the futures they are building. Visit lechild.org to learn more and donate to the Gratitude Initiative, which helps provide educational opportunities and scholarships that prepare children of law enforcement to thrive in college, their careers, and beyond. 💙 #LawEnforcementChildMonth #LECM

NSA is seeking jails interested in serving as Jails and Justice Support Center (JJSC) sites. If your jail is facing challenges related to life, health, or safety, this opportunity can help your agency receive targeted training and technical assistance to support safer, more humane, and more effective environments for incarcerated individuals, staff, and visitors. Through grant funding from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance and the National Institute of Corrections, participating agencies receive free training and technical assistance. NSA is proud to partner with CNA to support this important work. Learn more by reviewing the flyer and visiting the JJSC website here: https://lnkd.in/gFw5Xkhs Agencies interested in becoming a JJSC site can contact Kristi Barksdale at kbarksdale@sheriffs.org.

⚠️ Cybercriminals are getting smarter, and so are their scams. ⚠️ Artificial intelligence is making phishing attacks more convincing than ever. Fraudsters can now use AI to create emails, text messages, voice calls, and even videos that closely resemble trusted organizations or people you know. Before clicking a link, sharing sensitive information, or sending money, take a moment to verify the request through a trusted source. A few extra seconds can help protect you from becoming the next victim of an AI-powered scam. #CyberSecurity #Phishing #OnlineSafety #ScamAwareness

Behind every statistic in law enforcement is a family living the reality of service. Across the country, more than 17,500 state and local law enforcement agencies employ about 1.2 million sworn and civilian personnel. Federal law enforcement adds thousands more. And for many of those who serve, there are children at home who understand the sacrifices, uncertainty, and pride that come with being part of a law enforcement family. This Law Enforcement Child Month, the National Sheriffs’ Association is proud to partner with Gratitude Initiative and other law enforcement organizations to recognize the children behind the badge and help ensure that support reaches them in meaningful ways. Scroll through the carousel to see why this recognition matters. To support educational programs and scholarships for law enforcement children, visit lechild.org.
