Singularity Defense has raised $80 million in Series A funding to build low-cost air defense systems that can be produced at scale.
Cheap drones and other low-cost munitions have changed modern warfare. While existing air defense systems can stop many of these threats, they're often too expensive to use at scale and too slow to manufacture. As a result, countries are struggling to keep up as low-cost attacks become more common.
Founded by Jack Oswald and shail giroux, Singularity is developing a new air defense interceptor designed to be significantly lower cost than traditional systems. The company builds its hardware and software in-house, connects to existing radar and command systems, and is designing its production lines around automotive manufacturing principles to rapidly increase output.
The team includes engineers from SpaceX, Tesla, Anduril, and Lockheed Martin, along with operators who have deployed air defense systems in combat. Singularity says it flight-tests its interceptor multiple times each month and is working with the U.S. military, Ukraine, and international partners as it prepares for deployment.
The new funding will help Singularity expand manufacturing capacity and accelerate production of air defense systems designed to keep pace with modern battlefield threats.
