If you've been following us but still wonder exactly what we do, this is a great place to start. We're excited to share our first company video, a window into how we're reducing the cost and risk of multifamily development through a standardized, partnership-based approach to modular construction. A special thank you to Terner Labs and TWIG Media Lab for producing this video as part of the Housing Venture Lab accelerator. Being selected for the inaugural building innovation cohort in 2024 has connected us with an incredible community working to tackle housing's biggest challenges, and we're grateful to be part of that mission. Whether you've worked with us, followed our journey, or are just discovering Cloud Apartments, we'd love to hear what you think after watching. #HousingInnovation #ModularConstruction #AffordableHousing #HousingDevelopment #ConstructionInnovation #TernerLabs #BuildersLab

  • Welcome Chasidy Miles! We're thrilled to have you!

Pleased to share I've joined the Housing Venture Lab team with Terner Labs and will be working directly with accelerator companies in the Opportunity and Access track! I'm still about 72.3% sure this is a fever dream, but I look forward to supporting housing innovators in our 2026 cohort and collaborating with the Terner Center for Housing Innovation, UC Berkeley to bring ventures to scale. Sending a big thank you to those who've helped me get to this point: my new teammates, Kara Murray-Badal, Caitlin Keane, Tyler Pullen, and Geraldine Slevin, as well as many former colleagues from Ivory Innovations, Roofstock, JPMorganChase, Housing Endowment and Regional Trust of San Mateo County, and the Cornell Real Estate Council. Let's build! 🛠️

  • Our friends at the Terner Center for Housing Innovation, UC Berkeley are seeking graduate students for some exciting research projects this fall. If you're a student at University of California, Berkeley interested in working with the Terner team, here's your chance:

The Terner Center is seeking up to five UC Berkeley graduate students to serve as Graduate Student Researchers (GSRs) in fall 2026 and support research projects. GSRs will work 20 hours/week during the semester, with at least eight being in the Center’s office in Oakland. We are hiring for several distinct roles, which may involve the tasks listed below. Each role will focus on one of these areas rather than combining multiple areas. - Graphic design and publication layout: Support the design and layout of Terner Center publications. - Qualitative research on rental assistance: We are beginning a collaborative study of pilot programs to provide cash assistance to low-income renters in place of traditional housing vouchers. - Affordable housing analysis: We are conducting an analysis of the first round of Los Angeles County Affordable Housing Solutions Agency funding awards, with the goal of understanding how the suite of financial products the agency offered influenced affordable housing project design and costs. - Quantitative data wrangling to understand the impact of ADUs on household wellbeing: We are conducting a sweeping study of ADUs in California and their effect on long term housing supply as well as homeowner and renter financial metrics. - Seasonal farmworker housing assessment: We are leading a collaborative assessment of physical conditions and renovation needs of migrant farmworker housing sites across California. Applications are due by Friday, August 7, 5:00pm PT Learn more and apply: https://lnkd.in/g2RqMzh

It has been such an honor to work with Terner Labs over the last several years to serve as a mentor for innovative early-stage start-ups who are focused on making housing more affordable across the country. The alumni list from past cohorts is pretty impressive: PadSplit, Esusu, Housing Connector, Pronto Housing, Infilla, BuildCasa, Kit Switch, Blackstar Stability, Trust Neighborhoods.... just to name a few. Looking forward to the same level of excellence with this year's cohort!

Our next chapter starts at Terner Labs 🎊 We’re proud to announce that Keyway Homes has been selected for the 2026–27 Housing Venture Lab. Keyway was created to replace the maze of disconnected applications, phone calls, documents, and handoffs that too often stands between rental assistance and a signed lease. We’re honored to join a national cohort of companies developing bold solutions to make housing more affordable, accessible, and equitable. Through the Housing Venture Lab, we’re excited to strengthen our model, learn alongside leaders across the housing ecosystem, and build new partnerships with public agencies, housing providers, investors, and innovators working to improve how housing gets delivered. We’re especially interested in connecting with and partnering alongside: • Public housing agencies looking to improve voucher lease-up • Landlords and housing providers seeking a better participation experience • Community organizations supporting families through the housing process • Funders, researchers, and technology partners focused on housing access If your organization is working to help more people move from housing assistance to housing stability, we would love to hear from you. A housing voucher is only as powerful as the system that turns it into a front door. Thank you to the families, landlords, public housing agencies, community partners, and supporters who have helped shape Keyway. We’re proud to bring this work into the Terner Labs community. See the full announcement including the full cohort in the comments. 👇🏾 #HousingVentureLab #TernerLabs #AffordableHousing #HousingTechnology #HousingAccess #PropTech
