Our partners are the reason youth can experience a Summer to Remember. Please join us in thanking the Allegany County Area Foundation for their meaningful contribution. Their support means children can build lifelong memories through summer camps, trips to zoos and fairs, and more. Beyond experiences, these funds are critical to ensuring youth and their families have consistent access to nutritional meals, clothing, and household essentials. We empower youth and families to live safely, independently, and productively in their communities.
About us
For nearly 140 years, Together for Youth (formerly Berkshire Farm Center) has remained committed to a mission of empowering youth and families so they can live safely, independently, and productively within their communities. Our history is long and our commitment to our mission has not wavered, but the way we help families has evolved to meet their unique challenges. Our 600+ staff across NYS bring their authentic selves to work each day as they serve over 2,000 children and families daily. Learn more about our mission, our commitment to DEI, and ways to get involved by visiting our website at: www.berkshirefarm.org or following us on social media. TFY's Equity Statement: The Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth community stands committed to embracing and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. We vow to begin our journey by looking inward – by examining all biases and judgements while acknowledging both privilege and power. We are committed to better understanding privilege whether it be through race, gender, sexual identity, religion, ability, or other forms. Once fully acknowledged, we pledge to use the identified privilege to advocate for others. We understand that the work we do fosters change that will create a positive, ripple effect within our agency and in the community. We at TFY stand committed to becoming an all-inclusive, anti-racist, multicultural organization that encompasses a sense of belonging for all staff members, children and families, and community partners who join us in our mission. We are committed to dismantling barriers and ideology that reinforce a non-inclusive environment. We are dedicated to remaining open-minded, respectful, and actively choose learning over comfort. We acknowledge that everyone is on their own journey, and we strive to cultivate a culture of non-judgment, to choose words carefully, show compassion, extend grace, and consistently strive to become an advocate and ally for others.

💜 Grateful is an understatement We recently celebrated our 25+ Club, a group of team members who have been living our mission, and serving our communities, for decades. Whether working directly with families, keeping things running behind the scenes, or anything in between, each has a vital role in the work we do. Not all were able to attend this event, but all have poured their skills and heart into our mission. Thank you. 25+ Club members: Dave Teal – 50 years Steve Campbell – 45 years Marka O’Connell – 35 years Daniel Molleur – 30 years (not shown) Alida Bunk – 25 years Jenifer Gilmore – 25 years (not shown) Colleen McKeever Hamilton – 25 years (not shown) Donna Savino – 25 years Horace Thomas – 25 years (not shown) Ray Wilcox – 25 years #TogetherForYouth #Nonprofit

💜 Partnership in action We are so grateful for the time (10-plus hours!), energy, compassion, and care this group from New Hope Community Church put into revamping two visit rooms in our Hudson Falls location this month as part of their New Hope Loves the North Country community service series. More than updates to a space, this group has changed how kids experience these rooms and how families can engage. This is only the latest chapter for a partnership that is five years strong. Adam, a Pastor at New Hope, and his wife Hannah became Foster Parents in 2021. Beyond welcoming children into their lives, they've hosted Trauma Informed Training sessions, quarterly Foster Parent Night Out events, and launched a community-based Foster Parent support group. Please join us in thanking Adam, Hannah, and the entire New Hope community for their ongoing support. #TogetherForYouth

Together for Youth is proud to support and celebrate Tahira Gilyard as she competes this week for the title of Miss New York. Tahira's journey reflects the resilience and potential we see in so many young people connected to the foster care system. A former foster youth, she overcame significant obstacles to become a first-generation college graduate and her family's first attorney. Today, she serves families throughout New York City as a family defense attorney, helping parents and children navigate some of life's most difficult challenges. Her commitment to this work is deeply personal. Having witnessed the long-term impact that trauma and system involvement had on her own family, Tahira has dedicated herself to ensuring that children and families receive the support, advocacy, and opportunities they deserve. At Together for Youth, we believe that every young person deserves the chance to thrive, and we are inspired by leaders like Tahira who use their experiences to create positive change for others. Her story is a powerful reminder that foster care experiences do not define a person's future, and that with support, opportunity, and determination, extraordinary things are possible. We are grateful for the opportunity to support Tahira and the Empire Stars and wish her the very best as she takes the stage this week. People's Choice voting is open, and we'd be honored if our community would help support her journey. Votes are $1 each and unlimited. Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of both the progress made and the work still ahead. As we commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, Together for Youth honors the resilience and cultural contributions of Black communities that continue to shape our nation. Our ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging calls us to listen, learn, and act - today and every day. We encourage you to take time to reflect on the meaning of Juneteenth and engage with celebrations and learning opportunities in your area. Together, we can build a future rooted in understanding, equity, and shared humanity. #TogetherForYouth #Juneteenth

The most meaningful organizational growth does not begin with a strategic plan, a policy update, or a new initiative. It begins when the person at the top is willing to pause, look inward, and honestly examine themselves; their leadership, their assumptions, their blind spots, and their impact on the organization around them.
