On 27 July 2026, the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) of DOS issued a special event sheet to commemorate its seventy fifth anniversary. Since 1951, UNPA’s New York office has been at the heart of UN philately, creating stamps that tell the story of the United Nations and its mission to promote peace, human rights, sustainable development, and international cooperation. This special 75th Anniversary issue honors the rich history and enduring legacy of the only postal administration in the world that issues stamps in the name of the United Nations. From its headquarters in New York, UNPA has produced thousands of stamps that commemorate global achievements, raise awareness of important international issues, and celebrate the diverse cultures and peoples of the world. The stamps featured in this anniversary collection highlight the evolution of UNPA's artistic and philatelic excellence over the past seven and a half decades. As we mark this milestone, we celebrate not only 75 years of stamp production, but also 75 years of connecting people worldwide through the shared values and ideals of the United Nations. The United Nations has taken an important step in strengthening trauma care with the completion of the Damage Control Surgery (DCS) Working Group, led by the Office of Supply Chain Management (Department of Operational Support). In high-risk and remote environments, the “10-1-2” timeline defines survival: lifesaving first aid within 10 minutes, advanced resuscitation within one hour, and lifesaving surgical intervention within two hours to preserve life, limb and function. Meeting this standard in austere settings can be challenging, particularly where evacuation is delayed. Bringing together over 60 medical experts from 18 Member States and partners, including The Global Surgery Foundation, the working group has developed a standardized, modular DCS capability framework designed for rapid deployment. The model integrates pre-operative care, surgical intervention and post-operative intensive care, ensuring continuity from stabilization to evacuation. Aligned with operational realities, the recommendations prioritize mobility, durability and interoperability, and incorporate innovations such as the UN’s Walking Blood Bank Kit. DCS is one of three complementary lifesaving initiatives supporting the UN’s application of the 10-1-2 framework, alongside aeromedical evacuation and the Walking Blood Bank Kit. Together, they strengthen the UN’s ability to deliver timely, effective care in complex environments. On 1 July 2026, the New York Secretariat officially inaugurated the Common Administrative Platform (CAP) within the Department of Operational Support (DOS) at a Town Hall. With the creation of the New York CAP - known as "OneEO" - eleven Executive Offices (those of CTED, DCO, DESA, DGC, DOS, DGACM, DMSPC, DPPA-DPO, EOSG, ODA and OLA) were consolidated. In his remarks, the Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support, Mr. Atul Khare, highlighted this important milestone in advancing the UN80 reform agenda through more integrated and efficient administrative services, reduced fragmentation, and greater consistency across the Secretariat. With the introduction of a Client Relationship Management (CRM) portal, OneEO is creating a simplified, integrated and transparent approach to provide administrative support to those who serve the world - improving efficiency and enhancing accountability through streamlined request management and status tracking. In coming together, the OneEO provides administrative services and operational support to more than 38 United Nations Secretariat entities, Special Political Missions and Resident Coordinator Offices, serving a total of approximately 6,300 colleagues. The official launch concludes the six-month transition period following the approval by the UN General Assembly on the Secretary-General’s proposal to create the New York CAP. On 26 June 2026, the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) of the Department of Operational Support issued a souvenir sheet entitled “Blue and White Porcelain — Macao 2026 Specialized World Stamp Exhibition”, featuring three stamps to commemorate the exhibition in Macao, China, held from 26 June to 1 July 2026. Macao was a key port for the export of porcelain during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), serving as a major hub through which the Portuguese transported large quantities of ceramics. This souvenir sheet highlights a classic category of Chinese export porcelain known as Kraak porcelain. The term “Kraak” originates from the name Europeans used for Portuguese ships that carried these wares to Europe. Popular in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, Kraak porcelain was produced primarily in Jingdezhen (Jiangxi province) and Zhangzhou (Fujian province). Typical forms include plates, bowls, vases and ewers. During this period, Chinese export porcelain supplied tableware and decorative objects worldwide, reflecting Eastern aesthetics and influencing global tastes. As such, the porcelain trade became an important channel for cultural exchange between East and West. The souvenir sheet includes three stamps: 🔹 New York ($1.70): Melon-shaped vase with seahorse and floral and fruit patterns (Wanli reign, 1573–1620, Palace Museum, Beijing collection) 🔹Geneva (CHF 2,50): The four occupations plate (Wanli reign, 1573–1620, Palace Museum, Beijing collection) 🔹Vienna (€2,00): Water vase (circa 1600–1683, Macao Museum collection) The background features the Macao Peninsula in the style of blue-and-white porcelain, showcasing the Ruins of Saint Paul’s and the surrounding historic centre, both iconic World Heritage landmarks. The stamp sheet was designed by Lam Chi Ian (Macao, China) and Wu Di (China). On 6 July 2026, DOS and CANADEM signed a Memorandum of Agreement to provide specialized expertise in support of the United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) as it establishes its operational footprint.    Through this agreement, CANADEM will provide specialized gratis personnel in water and sanitation engineering and environmental management. This expertise will be critical to embedding environmental safeguards, strengthening public health protection and supporting sustainable infrastructure practices from the outset.    DOS also welcomed Ambassador Michael Gort, Deputy Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations, as an observer to this milestone event, recognizing CANADEM’s longstanding partnership and its early roots with the Government of Canada, as well as Canada’s continued support to international efforts in Haiti.    For DOS, the establishment of UNSOH represents an important milestone in the efforts of the United Nations to deliver agile, responsive and effective operational support in challenging environments. Two weeks ago, the DOS Triangular Partnership Programme (TPP) conducted its annual Stakeholders’ Workshop in Hanoi, the first to take place in the ASEAN region. Hosted by the Government of Viet Nam and co-Chaired by the Governments of Australia and Japan, the workshop gathered over 80 participants from 26 Member States and United Nations partners including DOS, the Department of Peace Operations, the Department of Safety and Security and the United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology.   Over three days, participants discussed key themes surrounding future-proofing the TPP, including peacekeeping training impact, performance, regional partnerships, innovation and emerging capability areas such as counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS). Together, the workshop discussions will directly inform TPP’s strategic plans for 2027 onwards. As part of the workshop, the Viet Nam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VNDPKO) of the Ministry of National Defence of Viet Nam, also hosted a site visit to its Engineering Command, showcasing Viet Nam’s expertise in UN peace operations and highlighting the impact of TPP training for past and future Vietnamese personnel.    The workshop comes eight years after Viet Nam hosted TPP’s first heavy engineering equipment training in the region, initiating TPP’s significant momentum in the ASEAN region. With marking 50 years from Viet Nam’s accession to the UN, the TPP stakeholders’ 2027 workshop represents the Government of Viet Nam’s continued strong support to UN peacekeeping, and the importance of partnerships for effective global peace and security efforts. The United Nations Global Service Centre in DOS is supporting the start-up of the United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) through advanced geospatial capabilities that integrate analytics, remote sensing, modelling and real-time tracking. These capabilities are complemented by extra-budgetary contributions from Member States, including France, helping strengthen operational planning, infrastructure resilience and duty of care. Today marks the International Day of Women in Diplomacy. Ensuring women’s full, equal and meaningful participation in decision-making – including in negotiations, conflict resolution and the pursuit of global peace – remains a longstanding priority of the United Nations. Within the UN system, important progress has been achieved. However, significant gaps persist in certain areas of the organization, particularly in UN field missions, where women remain underrepresented at senior levels. The Department of Operational Support (DOS) is home to the Senior Women Talent Pipeline (SWTP) – the UN’s flagship program dedicated to advancing women’s leadership and inclusion in decision-making roles. Since its establishment, more than 90 women from the SWTP pool have been selected for senior-level positions, contributing concretely to strengthening gender parity across the organization. Earlier this year, DOS launched a video highlighting the SWTP and the capacity development it provides, focusing on a recent training initiative conducted in collaboration with Portugal. The video depicts how the SWTP serves as a best practice model, both within the UN system and externally, for promoting women’s leadership and accelerating progress toward gender parity. On this International Day of Women in Diplomacy, we celebrate the important contributions of women advancing diplomacy around the world. As part of UN80 reform, the United Nations Secretary-General has emphasized the need for the Organization to be ready to adapt by becoming more efficient and better positioned to deliver on its mandates. Approved by the UN General Assembly, Common Administrative Platforms (CAPs) are reshaping how administrative services are delivered across the UN Secretariat. In New York, the CAP has been established under DOS since 1 January 2026 and is being rolled out in phases. Already, 11 Executive Offices have come together to support 35+ UN Secretariat entities and 30+ additional clients - serving around 6,300+ colleagues across the UNHQ. The CAP will be operationally launched on 1 July 2026. Through the New York CAP - referred to as the “OneEO” - teams with diverse experience and complementary strengths are now working side by side, united by a shared goal: to better support mandate delivery for clients and business partners. OneEO is improving its way of working by streamlining processes, leveraging shared expertise, ensuring consistent application of rules and regulations, and implementing best practices. As part of the UN80 reform, CAPs aim to reduce fragmentation, create economies of scale, and enhance service quality. In conjunction with other UN80 global initiatives, CAPs enable the UN Secretariat to engage in collective efforts to improve administrative and operational effectiveness across the UN system.
