SUMMARY: The Business Development Executive is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities within the transportation and logistics industry. This is a business development-focused role centered on prospecting, relationship building, and closing new customer accounts.
The ideal candidate for the Business Development Executive position a proven strong sales professional with experience specific to transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, or 3PL.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Identify, prospect, and secure new customer accounts
Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified opportunities through outbound prospecting, networking, referrals, and other business development activities
Build relationships with transportation, logistics, procurement, and supply chain decision-makers
Understand customer transportation requirements and present appropriate asset-based transportation and logistics solutions
Prepare proposals, negotiate pricing, and secure service agreements
Consistently achieve or exceed established sales objectives and performance goals
Maintain accurate records of sales activities, opportunities, and customer interactions within CRM systems
Collaborate with operations and customer support teams to facilitate successful customer onboarding
Represent the company professionally in all customer interactions
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
Proven experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, supply chain sales, or a related business development role
Demonstrated success in prospecting, pipeline development, and closing new business opportunities
Strong phone, verbal, and written communication skills
Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building abilities
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain a results-oriented approach
Proficiency with CRM systems and standard business software applications
Preferred
Experience selling transportation, truckload, dedicated, brokerage, or logistics services
Existing professional relationships within transportation, logistics, manufacturing, distribution, retail, or related industries
Knowledge of transportation markets, pricing, and supply chain operations
WORK AUTHORIZATION & LOCATION REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires full-time, on-site presence at our Wilmington, NC offices (28403).
Work hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
Some travel may be required as part of client relationship building, not to exceed 10% of the time.
