The only battles we lose are the ones we don’t fight. ❤️🔥 We are looking for several people to whom we can entrust 1 million euros. Somewhere in the world, an innovation capable of having a decisive impact on climate change may already exist. In a quiet laboratory. In a small company. In an engineer’s workshop. In a researcher’s work. In a country where no one thinks to look. But if no one spots it, it may never be funded. Never be deployed. And disappear without anyone noticing. To prevent this, we are launching 1 Million for the Planet: a global call for climate innovations. At Team for the Planet, 130,000 citizens have already raised nearly 50 million euros to identify, fund, and deploy the most powerful innovations against greenhouse gas emissions. The principle is simple: any innovator, anywhere in the world, can present their solution. If it is selected by our citizen evaluators, and then by our scientific and market committees, it could receive funding of at least 1 million euros to accelerate its development. Phenomenal talk on the need to add a little more TLC to how we talk about climate solutions from the guru of data driven solutions for climate himself Jonathan Foley. Speaking to the co-benefits, not just the carbon benefits of these solutions is critical for getting the message across because mitigation is often to far in the future and the effects often felt too far away to have that needed sense of urgency.

Can we make more progress on climate change — by using our limited resources more effectively? Heck, yes! We can be far more effective by focusing climate solutions through the lenses of time, location, and co-benefits or “TLC”. 🌍 Understanding Equilibrium Climate Sensitivity (ECS): Why It Matters for Our Climate Future How much will Earth warm if atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO₂) doubles? This question is answered by Equilibrium Climate Sensitivity (ECS)—one of the most important concepts in climate science. ECS measures the long-term increase in the Earth's average surface temperature after atmospheric CO₂ concentrations double and the climate system reaches a new equilibrium. Since the oceans absorb and release heat slowly, this equilibrium can take centuries to achieve. Climate scientists estimate ECS using advanced Atmosphere–Ocean General Circulation Models (AOGCMs), typically running simulations for 100–200 years under doubled or quadrupled CO₂ scenarios. 🔍 Why is ECS important? ✅ Helps project future global warming. ✅ Improves climate model accuracy. ✅ Supports evidence-based climate policy. ✅ Guides adaptation and mitigation strategies. ✅ Informs carbon budget and net-zero planning. The climate sensitivity parameter (λ) further explains how much global temperature changes for each unit of radiative forcing, helping scientists quantify Earth's response to greenhouse gas emissions. As climate risks continue to grow, understanding ECS is essential for policymakers, researchers, development practitioners, and sustainability professionals working toward a resilient, low-carbon future.
