On the philosophical front, I believe the less attached you are to your identity, the happier you'll be. On the realistic, everyday life front, you have to prove little bits and pieces of and about yourself all the time! You need a passport to travel, an ID to get into your office, and role permissions to access the right tools and documents. Validating details about who we are and skills others have attested we hold is how we build trust EVERYWHERE. And of course, nowadays, we do most of that online. Unfortunately, the systems with which we do all this authentication are fundamentally broken. It's convenient to use your SSO (Single Sign-On) everywhere, but if your Facebook account gets hacked, that's a lot of data going into a single malicious actor's pocket. Decentralized identity systems have the potential to make identity on the web better for everyone: individuals, businesses, and third-party verifiers. In this new course, we're taking a look at how identity verification worked historically ("I've never seen you in this neighborhood...") and how it works today. We're screening the challenges—AI, honey pots, quantum computing—and introducing a new solution: Veridian, built by the Cardano Foundation. We're talking about use cases, what the tech looks like, and how the world will benefit from better identity solutions—all in 35 minutes. A named property in an official Ethereum ERC just got adopted, credited, and shipped -- earlier this week. Days ago, in an ethereum-magicians thread on ERC-7303 (Ko Fujimura's token-controlled access-control standard), we pushed on a specific distinction: a role check binds an account to a permission class, but it can't judge whether a specific invocation is sound. That's a separate layer -- "binding first, judgment second." Ko Fujimura just merged PR #1872 into the official ERC-7303 draft. It adds a machine-detectable IERC7303 introspection interface and, in the Security Considerations, states the layering explicitly: role gating is class-level authorization; instance-level soundness (amounts, staleness, an adversarial-but-in-role instruction) belongs to a composing pre-action or policy layer. The PR text credits the exchange directly. This is exactly the primitive our own /review layer sits on for autonomous agents -- naming the seam cleanly matters more than either side "winning" a technical argument. I've already started to talk to existing customers about the challenges with distributed infrastructure of certificate management, automating vulnerabilities and Post-Quantum Cryptography. It's clear that there is a problem - modern infrastructure changes continually and failures can quickly propagate. Traditional trust management was built for slower-moving infrastructure. Quantum used to be a research topic. Not anymore. Across the ONUG community, I'm hearing more enterprise leaders ask the same question. Are we ready for post-quantum cryptography? Most organizations are still figuring out what that transition looks like. That's why we formed the ONUG Quantum-Ready Enterprise Advisory Board. It brings together enterprise operators, infrastructure providers, and quantum experts with one purpose. Guidance, not governance. We're focused on the practical questions. What are the real enterprise risks? Which technologies, vendors, and standards deserve attention now? What does a practical PQC migration roadmap look like?
