Every day, we see headlines asking whether AI will replace humans. It’s an understandable question—but I think we’re asking the wrong one. What if, instead, we asked how AI can help us build a healthcare system where humans and technology work together to deliver better care? The reality is that healthcare isn’t perfect today. Patients often wait too long, struggle to access care, or don’t receive the education and support they need. At the same time, nurses and other clinicians spend countless hours on tasks that pull them away from what only they can do: think critically, build trusting relationships, comfort families, advocate for patients, and provide compassionate clinical care. AI shouldn’t be measured by how many jobs it can replace. It should be measured by how many people it can help, how much unnecessary work it can remove, and how much more time it can give clinicians to be fully present with their patients. The future of healthcare isn’t human or AI. It’s human and AI—each contributing what they do best. As nurses, we have an incredible opportunity to shape that future. If we lead with compassion, safety, and thoughtful design, we can create care models that are more accessible, more equitable, and more human than ever before. Listen to Munjal Shah's conversation below to learn more about how we are building that future at Hippocratic AI and co-designing with clinicians to make it happen!
When people hear about AI making patient calls, they often assume a nurse or clinician would have been doing that work instead. During his conversation with Seth Sternberg, Co-Founder and CEO, Honor, our CEO Munjal Shah offered a different perspective. Many of those calls never happen. Why? Because there simply aren't enough clinicians to keep up with growing demand. As our population ages and demand for care continues to grow, nearly every healthcare organization is facing the challenge of building and supporting the workforce it needs. The goal isn't replacing nurses. It's helping nurses spend more time doing what only they can do while expanding support for patients who otherwise might not receive it. That's what AI for healthcare, by healthcare looks like. What role do you think AI should play in helping healthcare teams deliver better care and reduce burnout? The interview really highlights how AI can enhance patient comprehension, but there’s a bigger governance opportunity. Beyond informed consent, healthcare leaders must ensure multilingual communication—across all patient interactions—is governed. That means reliably identifying needs, addressing them, verifying understanding, and auditing outcomes. AI is powerful—but it needs to be part of a system that ensures safe, equitable communication for every patient.
Digitizing a signature is easy. Ensuring comprehension gets complex. As AI becomes more embedded in clinical workflows, healthcare leaders are rethinking how informed consent is delivered, documented, and understood. We connected with Dr. Helen Dao, DrPH, MHA, President and CEO of Dao Consulting Services Inc. to discuss how technology is reshaping patient-centered care. AI in healthcare isn’t most valuable when it replaces clinicians. It’s valuable when it gives clinicians time back for the part only humans can do. In this episode of Narratives of Purpose® Podcast (recorded at HIMSS Europe 2026), host Claire Murigande, PhD EMBA speaks with Dr Hannah Allen, Chief Medical Officer at Heidi, about building an AI Care Partner that supports care delivery end-to-end. This isn’t just “AI scribe” talk. It’s a bigger, more practical vision, combining documentation support with trusted research at the point of care and better team coordination, all while navigating the real barriers like interoperability and regulatory differences across markets. Dr. Hannah frames the future of healthcare AI as an enabler of more human medicine and a shift from patient-centered to person-centered care. That distinction matters. ----------------------------------------------------------- 👾 AI helped to write this post
🎙️ In the second episode of our 2026 HIMSS series, host Claire Murigande, PhD EMBA sits down with Dr Hannah A., a GP-turned-#DigitalHealth pioneer and the Chief Medical Officer at Heidi — an AI care partner revolutionizing clinical workflows. Together, they explore: 🔸 how AI ambient documentation is giving doctors back the time and presence to truly connect with patients 🔸 the challenge of #healthcare interoperability and how Heidi navigates global data regulations 🔸 why the future of medicine is less about electronic records and more about treating people as people — not patients 🎧 Listen NOW to their conversation 👉 https://lnkd.in/eEXzeABv ✅ Subscribe to Narratives of Purpose® Podcast to catch the full series #HIMSS26Europe #SocialImpact SwissCast Podcast Network

6,000 clinicians. Ambient AI scribing. And a governance framework that was built before the deployments — not after. Dr. Andy McWilliams of Advocate Health doesn't theorize about clinical AI. He builds it, governs it, and still sees patients. New episode of The ASHHRA Podcast is live. AI agents are transforming coding workflows. Allon Bloch, Co-Founder and CEO of K Health, sees the same shift coming to healthcare. The opportunity: AI agents that orchestrate patients across the continuum of care. These agents handle the work that consumes hours every day: collecting information, pulling medical records, and coordinating handoffs between care settings. This goes beyond just helping doctors with triage, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. These tasks are time-consuming, difficult to do well, and harder to manage at scale. High-quality, trusted AI agents change the equation. They become part of the care team, not a tool sitting outside it. The companies building this are not replacing clinicians. They are removing the operational burden that keeps clinicians from practicing at the top of their license. Hear the full conversation on the newest episode of Care Shift.
