Our unique diazoxide quality of life study has already informed patients and caregivers. One hyperinsulinism (HI) nurse shared with us that some of her patients brought the article with them to appointments, sparking new discussions about HI management with their care team. The study combined more traditional quantitative data on diazoxide use from HIGR with the richness of qualitative data from one-on-one interviews with people with HI and their caregivers. This creates a more thorough picture of what life taking diazoxide looks like for both patients and caregivers. Endometriosis, PMOS (formerly known as PCOS), and Primary Ovarian Insufficiency have little in common clinically. Different mechanisms, different specialists, different treatments. What they share is that women often wait years, sometimes more than a decade, to be diagnosed with any of them. Here's what often gets missed in that conversation: it's usually not that any single clinician is acting in bad faith. A primary care doctor, a gynecologist, and an endocrinologist can each do exactly what their role asks of them, and a woman can still spend years without an answer. Her symptoms get evaluated in fragments, across different visits, by different people, none of whom sees the full trajectory. The delay lives in the spaces between appointments and between specialties, and sometimes in the normalization of symptoms that deserve a closer look. That reframing matters. If the problem were simply individual error, better training alone would fix it. But when the gap is structural, the fix has to be structural too: better continuity, better shared data, and a fuller picture of how symptoms evolve over time. It's one of the harder and more important problems in women's health, and it's the problem OvaWise exists to help solve. High-risk and rare diseases often challenge one of healthcare’s most critical assumptions: that identifying the“right patient” is straightforward. In reality, patient selection is rarely defined by a single marker or diagnosis. Biology may guide the first step, but meaningful decisions often require a broader view, combining clinical phenotype,progression risk, comorbidities, treatment history, and the realities of day-to-day practice. Two patients with the samediagnosis can follow very different paths, with very different needs. This is especially relevant in complex and underserved disease areas, where time to intervention, access to expertise, andindividualized assessment can significantly influence outcomes. As precision medicine evolves, so must our understanding of precision itself.
