2026 Theme: Post consensus
This year’s theme, “Post consensus”, reflects a marketplace where many of the assumptions that shaped the past several decades are being reconsidered or overturned altogether. The global order that once relied on relatively open trade, coordinated monetary policy, and a shared belief in the benefits of globalisation is now giving way to a more fragmented, contested environment.
We are seeing the pillars underpinning the economic and financial system come under strain. Deglobalisation is reshaping supply chains and capital flows, as nations prioritise security, resilience, and domestic investment. Free trade, once taken as the default, is narrowing as regional blocs and bilateral agreements replace broad-based multilateralism.
In this post-consensus world, there is no single playbook. Instead, competing economic orders are emerging, each with its own rules, risks, and opportunities. For investors, the result may be heightened uncertainty, greater dispersion in outcomes, and the need to navigate markets without the anchor of broadly shared policy direction.
As asset owners navigate new and unpredictable challenges across the investment landscape, broader perspectives and collective thinking can help the investment community achieve more, together. Our Global Investment Forums convene asset owners, asset managers and colleagues, building partnerships that power portfolios.
