The significance of socially responsible consumption as well as the question of the knowledge and information that consumers may have about producers of consumer product are increasingly appearing in the literature. In the case of companies, responsible corporate operation and to examine how information could be transferred to consumers from companies have become key issues especially in the last decade. Socially responsible consumption, which is the incorporation of social and environmental concerns by individuals in their consumption choices, is growing. The aim of this research is to verify the existence of different profiles of socially conscious consumers and to study their social representation of consumption.

Sustainable development is the most significant problem discussed by intellectuals of many disciplines in the world. Max Horkheimer and Adorno in their magnum opus, Dialectic of Enlightenment (2002) discuss the problems of wellbeing of humanity related to sustainable development from History of Western world in general and Enlightenment period in special. The thinkers of Frankfurt School elaborately study causes for problems for wellbeing of humanity and analyze the effects of positivistic scientific enlightenment of the Western world on ordinary human beings. On the one hand, the analysis of Max Horkheimer and Adorno reveal the causes for the problems of wellbeing of humanity and identify root cause for the problems as the dominating attitude of human beings from Jewish & Greek mythologies, one the other hand, Buddhist metaphysics, ethics and psychology are against the causes for the problems of sustainable development. Buddhism, one of the successful religious and philosophical systems has contributed a lot to wellbeing of humanity in the past in Asia and its contributions are felt relatively very small from Modern period in the Western world. The enlightenment of Max Horkheimer and Adorno sheds light on understanding of problems of sustainable development in full scale. This Paper examines feasibility of the solution for the problems of sustainable development embedded in Buddhism with assistance of the Dialectic of Enlightenment.

Fashion is a reflection of political, social, and cultural changes. Its study requires adapting analytical tools to each historical period. In this work, the objectives are divided into two phases: first, to reconstruct the
discourse of fashion through a qualitative analysis of the local press during the Spanish Transition, identifying gender stereotypes and aesthetic pressures characteristic of that era; and second, to explore how the
democratization of fashion, social media, and the rise of sustainability shape the current construction of femininity, through semi-structured interviews with actual experts in communication and fashion.
The results reveal the persistence of gender stereotypes, the popularization of fashion through influencers and social media, and the growing importance of sustainability and conscious consumption. Fashion emerges as a platform for identity, but it also faces significant challenges in the digital age in balancing ethical and sustainable practices. Although there have been advances in inclusion, aesthetic
pressure remains strong, often fueled by the rapid spread of content on social media. In conclusion, although the discourse of fashion has evolved since the Transition period, it is crucial that it continues
to adapt to cultural and technological changes.

In rapidly changing world and in growing development street children involvement in drug addiction is a very alarming state that attributes tremendous despair to our society. This paper examines how the super shop culture influences consumer behavior in urban life. It also delineates the process of westernization in super shop culture examining empirical data from Chittagong city. Finally, it explores how western super shop culture is transmitting in the urban corporate life in Bangladesh.

Despite the significant growth in consumer boycotts, research has devoted insufficient attention to the institutional factors that may motivate consumers to engage in such behaviour. This article aims to address this research gap. The main objective is to analyse the factors that affect consumer boycotts from an institutional sustainability perspective, by focusing on a specific dimension of institutional sustainability: institutional trust. Information and data came from the 2023 round of the European Social Survey, a cross-national survey covering 25 Countries. The article applies a binomial univariable logit model to test the influence of institutional trust and other potential drivers on boycott decisions and a multivariable binomial logistic regression to explore possible interrelationship between independent variables. The results confirm that boycotts are affected by institutional trust and other factors including demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the consumers, consumers' perception of ICT, satisfaction with public institutions, and consumers' evaluation of personal well-being. This article contributes to political consumerism literature by focusing on the impact of institutional trust in boycotting behaviour. This relationship is underexplored in existing literature, since most literature researches consumer boycotts from a triple-bottom perspective and neglects the effects of the institutional dimension of sustainability in consumer behaviour. The article brings new insights into the motivations of consumers at the political and institutional levels and opens new directions for future research to explore institutional sustainability related to the good practices of governance.

The goal of this study is to create the Zero Waste Attitude Scale, which will be used to determine the zero-waste attitude of social studies teacher candidates and to conduct validity and reliability studies. The data for the study were collected with a 5-point Likert-type form from pre-service teachers studying in the social studies teaching department of some universities in Türkiye. Explanatory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and reliability studies were performed on the collected data. Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's Omega methods were used for reliability analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the scale consisted of 27 items and 3 factors. In total, the factors explained 50.09% of the common variance. As a result of the analysis, the fit index values of the scale χ2/sd =1.

Originality/Relevance: As the concern for sustainability becomes a universal phenomenon, the profile of the ecologically conscious consumer evolves. The ecological fashion movement gained strength and several companies began to realize the importance of sustainability and ethical conduct as indispensable factors in fashion. Brazil is the largest complete textile chain in the West, with more than 9.5 million jobs.

Results: The predominance of the sample was female, education, there was a balance between the number of respondents between undergraduate and secondary education, with an average age of respondents of 36.74 years. An interesting point of the study, which proved to be quite significant, was the positive influence of the attitude toward the purchase of ecological products on the ecological purchase intention. The increase in ecological awareness greatly interferes with consumer behavior. The theory of planned behavior can explain this phenomenon, as an individual's attitude, their beliefs concerning a certain aspect, can influence their consumption intention.

Theoretical/methodological contributions: The contribution of this study is to provide the profile of the Brazilian consumer in their intention to purchase ecological clothing. The positive influence of the attitude towards the purchase of ecological products remained evident. Increased awareness of consumer behavior. Exact reporting of the Low Birth Weight (LBW) is important for monitoring the health of a population. LBW is often underestimated in developing countries due to heaping of the data at 2500 grams. The main objective of reaserch was: to study the prevalence of LBW with adjustment of weight heaping and its association with various covariates in India. In this study, data was taken from the third round of National Family Health Survey (NFHS-3), conducted during 2005-2006. Ratio Method was used to give revised estimate of low birth weight and 95% confidence interval calculated for adjusted low birth weight. Data was analyzed for sociodemographic determinants of states and country (India) level. It was concluded that unadjusted prevalence of LBW in India was reported 21.5% and adjusted prevalence of low birth weight in India was obtained 27.1%.

O presente estudo objetiva comparar e avaliar a adequação de duas escalas, para mensuração da consciência ambiental: New ecological paradigm (NEP) e Ecologically conscious consumer behavior (ECCB). O exame da literatura indicou que uma decorrência da consciência ambiental é a intenção de comportamento de consumo ambiental (ICCA). Para a operacionalização do estudo, foi aplicado um survey on-line com 538 consumidores brasileiros. Foram utilizadas técnicas estatísticas multivariadas para verificar a dimensionalidade das escalas, bem como para avaliar sua associação com a ICCA. Os resultados indicam que a escala ECCB é mais adequada para medir a ICCA. 

INDICADORES DE CONSUMO CONSCIENTE: UMA AVALIAÇÃO DO RECIFENSE SOB A ÓTICA DO CONSUMO SUSTENTÁVEL 1 RESUMO Diante das modificações socioambientais observadas, mudanças nos comportamentos têm demonstrado uma nova perspectiva de atuação tanto individual quanto coletiva. Assim sendo, focando na atuação do indivíduo enquanto consumidor, o presente artigo tem por objetivo articular um conjunto de indicadores de consumo consciente para a identificação do comportamento da população de Recife/PE, sob a perspectiva do consumo sustentável. Com abordagem quantitativa, realizou-se uma pesquisa do tipo survey com 601 recifenses a partir dos 40 indicadores de consumo consciente identificados na literatura. Como apresenta os resultados, existe um direcionamento considerado 'suave' para uma prática consciente de consumo, entendendo serem necessárias interações com outros atores sociais. Além disso, se observa com a realização dos testes que a variável escolaridade apresenta maior influência sobre o comportamento, pela grande quantidade de diferença de médias. Com isso, o conjunto de indicadores agrupados para a realização dessa pesquisa a partir do Greendex, do Instituto Akatu e do Ecological Footprint Method, apresenta uma contribuição positiva para o estudo do consumo consciente de uma população sob a perspectiva do consumo sustentável. O presente artigo teve como objetivo identificar os fatores influenciadores do consumo de cosméticos sustentáveis. Este tipo de produto engloba produtos de beleza, perfumaria e higiene com preocupação na formulação, descarte, meio ambiente e vertente social. Este setor é um dos mais rentáveis do Brasil, destacando-se como o quarto maior do mundo e chegando a cerca de R$ 102,3 bilhões ao ano (ABIHPEC, 2019). Os cosméticos sustentáveis devem possuir componentes naturais, orgânicos e livre de matérias-primas não renováveis. Nesta pesquisa exploratória-descritiva, de natureza quantitativa, foram aplicados 529 questionários online com consumidores de cosméticos sustentáveis brasileiros. Os métodos utilizados foram a análise fatorial e alfa de Cronbach. Com 68,04% de variância explicada, 7 fatores foram identificados na fatorial e agregados num modelo final: Saúde (α = 0,864), Vaidade e bem-estar (α = 0,857), Meio ambiente e consciência ética (α = 0,855), Família e amigos (α = 0,798), Embalagem (α = 0,744), Comunicação e distribuição (α = 0,722) e Pessoas próximas e conveniência (α = 0,569). A maioria dos respondentes possui ensino superior, são mulheres adultas jovens e se preocupam com a qualidade, com a melhoria na saúde e com o compromisso dos cosméticos com o meio ambiente e animais.

Resumo: Este texto tem como objetivo oferecer um conjunto de problematizações acerca do "consumo consciente". Trata-se de um ensaio de natureza bibliográfica cuja tese central consiste em afirmar que, sob a prevalência do mundo mercantil, não se institui, de fato, o consumo consciente como afirmação do princípio da sustentabilidade socioambiental. Procura-se revelar o caráter ideológico desta formulação, que associa o consumismo e a possibilidade de sua superação apenas à necessidade de mudanças comportamentais sem que se explicitem suas dimensões socioeconômicas e sua funcionalidade como mecanismo de reprodução da lógica destrutiva do capital. This study aimed to verify the level of environmental awareness of future opinion makers of the Federal University of Paraná at the moment of consumption. The data were obtained through the application of a structured questionnaire with 180 students from an. After initial analysis to test multicollinearity and existence of multiple outliers, the variables were submitted to Exploratory Factor Analysis. By Kaiser's criterion, combined with the sediment plot, the variables were grouped into 4 factors, submitted to reliability analysis by the calculation of the Crombach's Alpha. The results present a robust scale for the measurement of the desired behavior, identifying relevant differences of results between the factors, suggesting the existence of differentiated behaviors for specific situations.

This study attempts to explore the impact of street hawking on the urban spaces of Dhaka city based on the users' perception and the influence of physical attributes to such activities. This study used case study approach to make a comprehensive understanding of the current condition of this activity. This research used multiple sources of evidences, like, the questionnaire survey and physical observation in order to find the answer to the research focus in the two selected places of Dhaka city. The findings revealed that dominant street hawker groups have mostly migrated from rural areas and have low skills. Apart from that, the undesirable effects of street hawking, the type of goods selling, nature and pattern of street hawking and their physical layout have an imposed constructive impact on the social and urban environment. Results revealed that, poor accessibility, insufficient walkway, safety and security issues, traffic congestions and disorganized spaces for street stalls has impeded the features of the urban spaces. This has led to four emerging thematic, known as, sociability, uses and activities, access and linkage and physical safety, comfort and image, that could be used as a criteria of recommendation in improving the current condition and issues for a betterment of the street hawker and community in Dhaka city. It is hoped that this study would informed the stakeholders on the importance of this informal natural business for sustainable city community economy and environment.

Con l’aggravarsi delle condizioni dell’intero Pianeta, conseguenza degli effetti sempre più manifesti e intensi dei cambiamenti climatici in atto, le pratiche discorsive intorno ai temi ‘green’ e ‘sostenibilità ambientale’ sono sempre più diffuse a livello planetario negli ambiti più disparati. Parimenti, si assiste alla proliferazione di un fenomeno in crescita - e sempre più sofisticato - riconosciuto come “greenwashing”, un modello di business aziendale in cui le imprese, attraverso strategie di marketing e campagne pubblicitarie, esplicitano una sensibilità e un’attenzione per l’ambiente che non corrispondono alla realtà. L’attenzione e la preoccupazione nei confronti di tale fenomeno emergono anche dai molti recenti studi accademici che fanno riferimento al greenwashing. Tale complessa realtà richiede non solo un richiamo alla responsabilità da parte delle imprese che si avvalgono di tali strategie ingannevoli di marketing, ma implica una forte responsabilità da parte dei soggetti, non solo in qualità di consumatori, ma anche in quanto chiamati alla salvaguardia dell’ambiente. Si rende necessaria un’educazione allo sviluppo di una profonda consapevolezza del fenomeno, di attenzione e ricerca che conduca i soggetti a un consumo sempre più responsabile, nonché alla volontà di esercitare pressioni sulle imprese affinché le strategie produttive e i prodotti corrispondano a una reale attenzione nei confronti dell’ambiente.

Atualmente muitas empresas vêm realizando ações de cunhos sociais sob a crença de que a sociedade atribui a ela um papel que vai além do seu comportamento ético e legal, e de que isso possa ser valorizado pelos seus públicos-alvo, e até se reverter em algum tipo de preferência por ela e seus produtos. Assim, este trabalho teve por objetivo verificar se a Responsabilidade Social Empresarial é importante nas decisões de compra dos consumidores, e o quão importante ela é frente a outros fatores. El consumo de productos organicos reporta algunas caracteristicas comunes a los consumidores de estos productos, tales como la ubicacion –residen en zonas urbanas, en ciudades normalmente grandes–; el comportamiento de compra –teniendo en cuenta factores como la calidad, origen y metodo de produccion–; algunos factores demograficos –por lo general bien educados, de clase media alta– y el poder de compra –que varia de medio a alto–. INDICADORES DE CONSUMO CONSCIENTE: UMA AVALIAÇÃO DO RECIFENSE SOB A ÓTICA DO CONSUMO SUSTENTÁVEL 1 RESUMO Diante das modificações socioambientais observadas, mudanças nos comportamentos têm demonstrado uma nova perspectiva de atuação tanto individual quanto coletiva. Assim sendo, focando na atuação do indivíduo enquanto consumidor, o presente artigo tem por objetivo articular um conjunto de indicadores de consumo consciente para a identificação do comportamento da população de Recife/PE, sob a perspectiva do consumo sustentável. Com abordagem quantitativa, realizou-se uma pesquisa do tipo survey com 601 recifenses a partir dos 40 indicadores de consumo consciente identificados na literatura. Como apresenta os resultados, existe um direcionamento considerado 'suave' para uma prática consciente de consumo, entendendo serem necessárias interações com outros atores sociais. Além disso, se observa com a realização dos testes que a variável escolaridade apresenta maior influência sobre o comportamento, pela grande quantidade de diferença de médias. Com isso, o conjunto de indicadores agrupados para a realização dessa pesquisa a partir do Greendex, do Instituto Akatu e do Ecological Footprint Method, apresenta uma contribuição positiva para o estudo do consumo consciente de uma população sob a perspectiva do consumo sustentável.
