Entrepreneurship is often theorized as a process of opportunity recognition, resource mobilization, and value creation. Yet entrepreneurial action also raises important ethical questions because opportunity pursuit can redistribute power, impose costs on stakeholders, and reshape the institutional conditions under which markets and communities operate. This research note argues that the ethical study of entrepreneurship should move beyond individual-level accounts of moral decision-making and toward a broader examination of openness, collaboration, ecosystem governance, and entrepreneurial capacity building. The note identifies several interrelated themes: the ethical ambiguity of entrepreneurial opportunity pursuit, the role of open strategy in stakeholder-centered innovation, the relational governance of entrepreneurial ecosystems, the importance of entrepreneurship education, and the use of cross-sector partnerships to address complex social problems. Together, these themes suggest that ethical entrepreneurship is not only a matter of founder intent, but also a function of how ventures, partnerships, and ecosystem's structure participation, accountability, learning, and value distribution.

This study analyzes the characteristics of 7,598 companies that achieved B Corp certification from the certification’s inception in 2007 through 2022, including 1,849 that later decertified. Results show increasing international adoption, particularly among smaller firms and service-sector companies, alongside a decline in decertification. Younger firms are more likely to decertify, though most remain in business. Despite lacking regulatory backing, B Corp is overcoming early adoption barriers and gaining legitimacy, suggesting it is on a trajectory similar to established certifications, such as LEED. These findings offer critical insight into the evolution and durability of values-driven certifications in today’s global business environment.

Граѓанското содружништво афирмира самоорганизирање на граѓаните, во различни форми на здружување заради остварување на одредени интереси или за задоволување на одредени потреби. Улогата на граѓанското содружништво во развојот на демократско општество ужива растечки тренд на одобрување, но постојат и многу недоречености во однос на неговото постоење. Она што го дефинира граѓанското содружништво е фактот дека тоа е просторот каде што граѓаните можат слободно да се здружуваат и организираат во групи и организации на различни нивоа во согласност со нивните интереси и потреби и помалку или повеќе независно од државата или другите јавни власти и од економијата. Сепак, граѓанското содружништво не може да се перципира како опозиција на државата и стопанството. Денес, особено под влијание на новите парадигми за организација на општествениот живот учеството на граѓанските здруженија во процесите на креирање јавни политики е се почест предмет на интересирање веќе подолг временски период. Во последните три децении од развојот на македонското опшетство граѓанското здружување и со него поврзаните поими како, на пример, граѓанско содружништво, невалдин сектор, цивилно општество, граѓанско опшетство, непрофитен сектор итн, зазема се поистакната место. Тоа е присутно во сите сфери на опшетствеото живеење. The civil sector sector is often determined by a few more or less precise differences. It differs from the state and the market in its specific qualities. Referring to the originality of the civic world, dilemmas arise: Are associations really places of politicization, democracy and its learning?-Or are the associations a place of solidarity where labor is renewed? In a word, are they the iron of social change? In such a connotation that connects the civil sector with the idea of counter-power, it should not be equated with either the Government or its administration. As different from the state, the civil society sector could be confused with the wider sphere of politics. Today, significant values are attributed to the civil society sector, for example as a potential reservoir of political elites or as a facilitator of public regulation. The interest in the civil sector today is part of the reassessment of the relations between the citizen and the state, of the political power of the common man. What defines the civil sector is the fact that it is the space where citizens can freely associate and organize in groups and organizations at different levels in accordance with their interests. The relations between the civil sector and the state have been the subject of interest for a long time. In this paper, we focus on the changing relations between public authorities (the state but also others such as local governments or supranational governments such as the institutions of the European Union) and the civil society sector by analyzing current research in some European Union countries. and the Republic of Northern Macedonia.

Raport przedstawia wyniki ogólnopolskiego badania (metoda mieszana: CAWI, N=6093 oraz FGI) dotyczącego postaw i potrzeb pracowników polskiej administracji publicznej wobec wdrażania sztucznej inteligencji. Analiza ujawnia znaczną otwartość na technologię – 59% urzędników deklaruje częsty kontakt z informacjami o AI, a 87% wyraża chęć udziału w szkoleniach. Choć 46% badanych korzystało już z narzędzi GenAI w pracy (głównie do wyszukiwania informacji i edycji tekstów), kluczowymi barierami pozostają niejasne regulacje prawne (73%) oraz brak wewnętrznych procedur (70%). Respondenci dostrzegają potencjał AI w automatyzacji rutynowych zadań, przy jednoczesnym silnym sprzeciwie (94%) wobec zastępowania człowieka w podejmowaniu decyzji.

AI in Public e-Administration – Perspective of Officials and Institutions.
This report presents the findings of a nationwide study (mixed methods: CAWI, N=6093 and FGI) regarding the attitudes and needs of Polish public administration employees towards the implementation of artificial intelligence. The analysis reveals significant openness to the technology: 59% of officials report frequent exposure to AI information, and 87% express a desire for training. While 46% of respondents have already used GenAI tools for work (primarily for information retrieval and text editing), unclear legal regulations (73%) and a lack of internal procedures (70%) remain key barriers. Respondents see AI's potential in automating routine tasks, while strongly opposing (94%) the replacement of humans in decision-making processes.

This paper presents a hybrid strategic management framework designed to guide nonprofit organizations through post-founder leadership transitions while strengthening organizational performance and mission impact. Integrating the foundational models of Bryson’s Strategy Change Cycle, the SOAR framework, and La Piana’s Real-Time Strategy, the approach combines structured analysis, strengths-based envisioning, and adaptive decision-making. Using The Possibility Place as a case study, the paper outlines a six-month strategic management process, stakeholder engagement model, and performance measurement system. The framework reframes strategy as a continuous leadership discipline rather than a static planning event, positioning organizations to close mission gaps and maximize social impact in complex and evolving environments.

Entrepreneurship education supports career readiness in high schools, yet its integration as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway remains inconsistent. This study examines how high school principals interpret the challenges and opportunities of integrating entrepreneurship education within CTE. Using constructivist grounded theory, I conducted in-depth interviews with ten public high school principals in a southeastern U.S. district and analyzed the data through iterative coding and constant comparison. The analysis produced Entrepreneurship Integration Theory (EIT), a grounded model with three interdependent dimensions that shape implementation: Relevance, Equity, and Network. Principals described relevance as connecting entrepreneurial learning to students’ goals and lived experiences while also fitting school accountability structures. They defined equity as ensuring access and belonging through inclusive, student-centered design. They emphasized network as partnerships and community relationships that provide resources, legitimacy, and long-term sustainability. EIT explains how principals move entrepreneurship education from an elective concept to a durable CTE pathway by aligning meaning, inclusion, and relational support. These findings offer a practical framework for school leaders, program designers, and policymakers who aim to strengthen entrepreneurship education as a credible and scalable pathway within secondary CTE systems.

In 2016, the MiSTEM Advisory Council launched a statewide restructuring of Michigan’s STEM education infrastructure to address fragmentation and limited cross-sector coordination. This report presents findings from the first year of a social network intervention designed to support the development of the MiSTEM Network as a cohesive, cross-sector STEM ecosystem. Using whole-network survey data collected in summer 2018 (baseline) and spring 2019 (follow-up), we analyze changes in network size, composition, and structure to assess growth in trust, collective knowledge, and adaptive capacity.

Results indicate substantial expansion of the network from 346 to 1,327 actors (286% growth), accompanied by a 342% increase in ties and higher overall connectedness, suggesting strengthening trust and cohesion. The network also diversified significantly, with marked increases in participation from business, nonprofit, workforce development, and government sectors. The ratio of educational to non-educational actors was reduced by half, and actors from outside education increasingly occupied central leadership positions. Structurally, the network evolved from a core–periphery model dominated by educational intermediaries to a more integrated and diffuse configuration, enhancing reachability and cross-sector brokerage.

Findings demonstrate the value of applying formal social network analysis as a strategy for guiding multi-institutional policy implementation. By coupling network measurement with targeted feedback to regional leaders, the intervention supported the rapid development of a more diverse, collaborative, and adaptive statewide STEM ecosystem.

Communities across North America are developing integrative responses to complex health and social challenges, including homelessness, addiction, and emerging infectious disease threats. These initiatives frequently arise where traditional bureaucratic systems struggle to resolve cross-sector problems at meaningful scale. While such community-based innovation is often structurally necessary and adaptive, governance risk emerges when formal authority, financial clarity, and dispute-resolution pathways are underdeveloped. This paper examines how ambiguity in emergent initiatives can redistribute influence and create conditions in which informal coercion-by institutions or individuals-becomes possible. Drawing on governance theory and the literature on "wicked problems," it argues that proportionate administrative scaffolding is essential to protect vulnerable participants, innovators, and institutional legitimacy. Recent community-level initiatives across multiple jurisdictions illustrate that these dynamics are not hypothetical; they are already surfacing in practical settings. The goal is not to suppress experimentation, but to stabilize it. Preventive governance design can reduce foreseeable legal escalation and allow innovation to mature safely and sustainably.

This paper concerns the nature of the factors that influence donations to private nonprofit organizations. We estimate the demand functions facing private, nonprofit, collective-goods providers of a number of commodities, such as library and museum services, hospital care, and disease research. We test the hypothesis that voluntary giving--donations of money--is responsive to price and to advertising (fund-raising) expenditures, as is the case with "ordinary" private goods. The responsiveness of donations to conventional market variables is of broad theoretic relevance because it relates to the severity of free-rider behavior. Our empirical work, using IRS data, indicates that as with private goods, revenues do respond positively to advertising expenditures and negatively to price. These findings suggest that freerider behavior can be overcome.

Globally, in the last four decades, the number of women in the job market has increased significantly. More women are entering into positions of managers and leaders. However, despite the laws in many countries aimed on advancing women to the top positions of the companies, the "glass ceiling" phenomenon still continues. Research in the direction of women in leadership positions shows a series of challenges that women face during the process of advancing into higher positions. Research on the attitudes towards a woman as manager shows that male subordinates have negative attitudes and stereotypes towards a woman leader and that successful leaders and managers are still imagined as men. Stereotypes are even more pronounced in patriarchal and traditional societies. As a result, because of these attitudes and prejudices women face obstacles in dealing with their male counterparts, which contributes to being perceived as being less effective in the role of a leader. The aim of this research is to see the differences between men and women in the Republic of Macedonia in attitudes toward a woman manager. The results taken from ae survey showed that there are differences in attitudes towards a woman manager between men and women, where women are somewhat positive, while men are neutral. What is worth noting is that the attitude of the women themselves towards the manager is not completely positive.

In Mexico, 6 million people have a disability and only 38.5% in a working age have a job. The present literature review examines the main factors in companies for hiring and rejecting people with disabilities, as well as the main business initiatives that have been developed in favor of socio laboral inclusion in recent years in Mexico. In our findings, we noticed differing opinions about not hiring people with disabilities, such as inexperience, fear of facing costs and legal matters. Multi-stakeholder partnerships in Mexico that promote hiring people with disabilities might be a channel for employment and information for business that intends to promote socio laboral inclusion in their companies.

PurposeThis paper aims to introduce this special issue of ITP on systems for human benefit (S4HB), to develop and promote the idea of S4HB, and advocate that more research be conducted on the design and diffusion of S4HB.Design/methodology/approachThis conceptual paper argues that S4HB are systemically under‐researched based on a historical perspective on IS research and proposes an agenda for research on the design and diffusion of S4HB.FindingsThe paper identifies extant areas of S4HB, such as health and education, but also advocates that new areas of S4HB be identified and new kinds of S4HB be designed. It further discusses how diffusion is a key issue to the realisation of human benefits and contrasts diffusion of S4HB with more commercial business systems as a motivator for further research. We investigate how households from migrant communities in Australia deal with conflicting claims on their resources for charitable giving in various forms, using household survey data. We examine financial donations, volunteering and remittances among the competing claims on migrants' resources and the effect of secular consumption on giving. We control for the wide range of religious denominations and the metropolitan and regional locations represented in our sample. We find increases in income lead to more financial donations and remittances. Contemporaneous increases in secular spending appear to be associated with reductions in giving except in the case of remittances. It is suggested that the investment and altruism motives associated with remittances could make it rather more resilient to competing pressures. Overseas donations are more susceptible to secular expenditure than donations in the host country; the latter may be more susceptible to community pressures. Indeed, we find evidence of members of home country community groups in the host country giving more to all claimants. These households may face particular conflicts in meeting all claims on their resources as prior evidence has suggested. Time donations to social organizations are particularly susceptible to discretionary spending, which could impact on integration into the wider community.
