The City of Knox asked for an independent heritage
assessment of the above 1970s religious complex and site to allow assessment of a subdivision application-this is a heritage review of the application submissions, dealing with cultural elements (planted trees, buildings, objects, etc.), using historical, architectural or aesthetic, and horticultural
expertise (Graeme Butler, Francine Gilfedder) and based
on the material provided by the applicant with no further
research. Criteria used are those of the Australian Heritage Commission. Objectors to the development have also suggested that the dam on the site may have environmental significance, in terms of flora and fauna so an assessment by environmental scientist, Steve Mathews, has been provided under separate cover.

The following extracts from the Biosis P/L project brief provide the basis for the commission of Graeme Butler & Associates to document costed works to reinstate the place. Biosis described the complex as: Creeds Farm comprises a four room bluestone cottage, Bluestone barn/stable, a roofed bluestone cistern, timber dairy and other minor timber outbuildings. Major structural faults are obvious such as large cracks in stone work, and one corner of the cottage which has collapsed. It is proposed that URLC will repair the building to a basic sound condition so that Catholic Education can incorporate it as part of a new school campus.

In reassessing the excavation in 1958 and 1959 of two 19th century sealer's refuges on Antarctica’s Livingston Island this paper considers how Antarctic scientists in the mid twentieth century saw potential in archaeological data for contributing to scientific questions of global significance, specifically dynamics of repopulation at former, historically exploited seal colonies. In light of this, how may archaeology contribute to Antarctic science today?

This article is part of a broader research project on cultural heritage management in the Nuba Mountains. The study was prepared and submitted in both Arabic and French in order to make its findings accessible to different audiences and stakeholders. The publication of the study in two languages reflects the authors’ commitment to disseminating the results of the survey among local communities, cultural practitioners, heritage managers, and researchers who are directly concerned with the future of cultural heritage in the Nuba Mountains. Both versions are based on the same research data and survey results, while minor differences in presentation and formatting reflect the editorial requirements of the respective journals.

En cuanto a Ias enfermedades, el hongo Ciborinia camelliae, de reciente detección en Ia Península Ibérica, se observo en todas Ias zonas de muestreo y presentó Ia patologia más alta con un índice médio dei 100%. The intricate relationship between Cultural Heritage, Landscapes, Cultural Identities, and Local Communities requires a deeply interdisciplinary approach. By fostering a sense of place and community, Cultural Heritage strengthens social bonds, enhances well-being, and supports civic engagement. In fact, individual disciplines often struggle to establish a common framework. Thus, this study aims to bridge perception-based methodologies from social psychology and Heritage Studies with spatial approaches from Landscape Studies. The research explores the intersection between the visible and the perceived, recognising it as a crucial factor in cultural identity formation. Additionally, 3D data are examined as a pivotal tool for analyzing these dynamics. This study integrates a quantitative survey assessing Place Attachment, Community Attachment, Historical Place Identity, Place Social Bonding, and Perceived Visibility with 3D visibility analysis to examine the relationship between psychological and spatial dimensions. The findings address key questions on how perceived and physical visibility influence cultural significance, identity formation, and emotional responses to heritage landmarks. This interdisciplinary approach challenges static notions of Heritage by emphasizing its evolving nature, shaped by contemporary societal interactions.

This document describes a critical architectural change in the Odra 1305 AI project concerning the audio processing pipeline. Version v0.1 implemented a local speech-processing chain on a Dell Optiplex 780 (Core 2 Duo, 2009) using the Whisper (tiny) and pyttsx3 libraries. Testing revealed two unacceptable limitations: transcription latency of 4–12 seconds and Polish speech recognition accuracy below 70%, disqualifying the system for operational use.
The proposed v0.2 architecture reduces the Optiplex 780 to an operator terminal: it records audio to a WAV file, encodes it using Base64, transmits it via JSON Protocol v1.1 to an external STT+LLM service, and on the return path receives a Base64-encoded WAV file containing neural TTS audio. Response latency drops below 0.5 seconds, and transcription accuracy rises to 95–99%. An additional benefit is intent detection within the same request as transcription, eliminating a separate LLM inference step.
Advantages, limitations, and risks of the proposed solution are discussed, with particular emphasis on data privacy, offline availability, and compliance with the project's seven fundamental principles.

This article conceptualizes cultural heritage as a dynamic system of assets, practices, meanings, actors, and rules that interact across scales and through time. It also sets out the book’s aim: to move beyond object‑centred preservation toward a systemic understanding and design, in which values, governance instruments, social dynamics, and environmental forces are treated holistically and as interconnected. For this purpose, a mapping of new heritage approaches—related to values‑based conservation, critical heritage, rights‑based and participatory governance, the Historic Urban Landscape, resilience and climate adaptation, heritage futures, adaptive reuse and circularity, and digital/design‑led practices—has been conducted. It is shown how these approaches collectively advance a systemic view of cultural heritage. The article analyses how heritage as a system has evolved, how it can be described and conceptualized, and, most importantly, how this is connected to current challenges and projects. The chapter closes with a roadmap to the volume and its chapters.

For many years now, tourism has been viewed as one of the most important factors contributing to the development of economies worldwide. Tourism creates employment, provides additional sources of revenue, and promotes infrastructure development. On the other hand, fast growth of tourism poses a certain threat since it may lead to deterioration of cultural heritage and loss of identity, which serve as main attractions for tourists. The aim of this study is to investigate the idea of sustainable tourism development, which presupposes achieving the right balance between the benefits brought by economic development and protection of cultural resources. The research focuses on identifying approaches and solutions which will help maintain balance between economic development and culture preservation. Tourism development, focusing on the critical balance between maximizing economic benefits and safeguarding cultural assets. It examines how destinations can foster growth while preserving traditions, heritage sites, and community values. Drawing on global practices and case studies, the paper analyzes strategies that integrate economic goals with cultural stewardship, highlighting policies, community involvement, and responsible management as key pillars. The study concludes that sustainable tourism is not a trade-off between development and preservation, but rather a pathway where both objectives reinforce each other, ensuring long-term prosperity and cultural continuity. The contemporary international system is increasingly characterised by fragmentation, geopolitical uncertainty, institutional distrust, and the limitations of traditional powercentred diplomatic models. In this evolving environment, female diplomats are emerging not merely as participants in diplomacy but as transformative actors reshaping the conceptual architecture of power. This paper argues that the rise of female diplomats reflects a broader transition from domination-centred diplomacy towards influencebased, relational, emotionally intelligent, and collaborative models of strategic leadership. Drawing on Feminist International Relations Theory, Soft Power Theory, Emotional Intelligence Theory, and Relational Leadership Theory, the paper examines how female diplomats contribute to diplomacy through trust-building, emotional intelligence, collaborative negotiation, moral legitimacy, and relational influence. The study adopts a qualitative conceptual approach grounded in interdisciplinary theoretical synthesis and contemporary diplomatic analysis. It further explores how fragmented global environments increasingly require leadership approaches rooted in empathy, communication, cultural sensitivity, and adaptive governance rather than coercion alone. The paper concludes that female diplomats are contributing to the reconfiguration of diplomatic power in the twenty-first century by expanding the strategic foundations of leadership beyond domination towards influence, legitimacy, and relational governance.

The majority of building collapse incidents that occurred between 2021 and 2025 took place in the hottest months of the year (summer), particularly in the world's hottest regions. This indicates that the primary cause of the collapse is variations in the volumetric expansion rates of the materials that make up the building's structure. For instance, although not exactly the same, the volumetric expansion of concrete is getting close to that of the steel utilised for reinforcement. As a result, in huge buildings that use a lot of steel and concrete, the rates of expansion of the two materials differ greatly, particularly when temperatures are high. Because concrete is brittle and lacks ductility, this causes steel to expand more quickly than concrete, resulting in cracks in the concrete's microstructure that ultimately cause the building to collapse. Meanwhile, because temperature has a significant impact on chemical reactions, the rate at which water escapes from the concrete composition increases at high temperatures. This causes the concrete to become brittle, shrink excessively, and lose its original qualities. Purpose: Determine the causes of building collapses and take action to stop them. Method: gathering information on building collapse accidents, including dates and circumstances, and examining the physical characteristics of building materials to find elements that contribute to a building's longevity. Results: Since it is now evident that global warming significantly affects building safety, building designs should incorporate the need for these emergency developments brought on by exposure to hot solar radiation. Thermal insulators are one of the key components of the basic design of buildings to lessen the effects of heat transfer from the parts that are exposed to the sun on the rest of the building, as well as to prevent the disparities in the rates of expansion of the external and internal parts of the buildings.

Süleymaniye, one of the principal components of the UNESCO World Heritage property Historic Areas of Istanbul, is globally recognised through Sinan’s monumental mosque complex. Yet its Outstanding Universal Value has never depended on the monument alone. The surrounding historic urban quarter—its domestic architecture, street morphology, topographical relationships, and long-standing social organization—constitutes an essential part of the site’s significance under UNESCO criteria (ii), (iii), and (iv).

This paper argues that the principal threat to Süleymaniye is no longer simple neglect or physical decay, but the gradual transformation of a living historic quarter into an increasingly fragmented and selectively reconstructed heritage environment. Drawing on academic research, planning documents, field observations, and recent intervention projects, the study traces Süleymaniye’s transformation from a historically layered residential district into a contested renewal landscape shaped by depopulation, displacement, land-use change, urban redevelopment, and reconstruction-oriented conservation.

The analysis does not romanticize the past. Süleymaniye’s socio-economic decline long predates recent interventions, as shifts in Istanbul’s urban geography progressively weakened its residential continuity. However, historical deterioration does not in itself justify the erosion of authenticity or the replacement of historic complexity with curated historical imagery.

The paper examines this condition through UNESCO’s key evaluative concepts of authenticity and integrity, asking whether current interventions conserve a living historic urban ensemble or produce an increasingly ambiguous heritage landscape. Particular attention is given to the relationship between monumental continuity and the disrupted condition of the surrounding urban fabric.

Rather than advocating delisting, the paper calls for closer international scrutiny of Süleymaniye’s current condition within the World Heritage framework, including consideration of enhanced monitoring and a reassessment of the attributes sustaining its Outstanding Universal Value.

This paper addresses corrosion risk management for pewter objects from the Belinho I shipwreck (Esposende, Portugal). A collaborative framework was established, involving community stakeholders during the critical post-recovery phase, leading to the development of both field community and laboratory preventive conservation protocols. During the second phase of the laboratory protocol, a crowned-hammer hallmark was identified, consistent with others in the assemblage. The third phase of the laboratory protocol implemented a progressive sequence of passivation baths guided by Pourbaix diagrams and systematic monitoring of physicochemical parameters (E h , pH, conductivity, and temperature). Characterization of primary corrosion products and precipitates from the baths, using 3D digital microscopy, SEM/EDS, µ-Raman, and XRD, identified basic tin chlorides with abhurite and hydroromarchite structures. Collectively, results demonstrate that immediate preventive conservation is an effective strategy for controlling corrosion risk, underscoring the necessity of collaborative frameworks for the long-term safeguarding of underwater pewter heritage.

The rapid expansion of remote work following the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly transformed work patterns, mobility and travel behavior worldwide. Extensive studies have examined remote work and tourism in developed economies, limited empirical research exists on how remote work influences domestic tourism consumption in developing countries. This study therefore investigates the prospects and perils of remote work on domestic tourism consumption, focusing on staff of Takoradi Technical University. A quantitative research approach was adopted using a cross-sectional survey design. Data were collected from 303 respondents through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and exploratory factor analysis with the aid of SPSS. The findings reveal that remote work is gradually influencing domestic tourism behavior by increasing travel flexibility, altering travel timing and influencing accommodation choices. However, the integration of work and leisure travel remains relatively limited among respondents. Factor analysis identified five key prospects associated with remote work for domestic tourism development: destination expansion, industry development, tourism demand growth, accommodation and digital infrastructure development and long-term tourism sustainability. At the same time, six major perils were identified, including infrastructure and cultural pressure, economic and environmental concerns, cost and regulatory barriers, transport and sustainability risks, workspace suitability issues and unreliable power and internet connectivity. The study concludes that remote work presents both opportunities and challenges for domestic tourism development in Ghana. While remote work can stimulate tourism demand and diversify destinations, infrastructure limitations and regulatory gaps may hinder its full potential. The study recommends strategic investment in digital infrastructure, reliable electricity supply, transport systems, and work-friendly tourism facilities to enable Ghan remote work trends.

This paper investigates the complex intersections of historical trauma, diplomatic discourse, and postcolonial literature in shaping contemporary global political imaginaries, with a focus on African case studies. By integrating perspectives from history, international relations, and literary studies, the analysis reveals how narratives of memory operate as powerful sites of identity formation, justice-seeking, and political legitimacy. Case studies from post-apartheid South Africa, post-genocide Rwanda, and conflict-affected Nigeria demonstrate how trauma is mediated through official histories, diplomatic engagements, and literary representations, each contributing distinct yet intertwined dimensions to national and international dialogues on reconciliation and human rights. The paper argues that literary narratives provide essential affective and ethical insights often marginalized in diplomatic and historical political impact. This interdisciplinary approach advances theoretical debates on memory and power while offering practical implications for transitional justice and peacebuilding. Ultimately, the study highlights the critical role of narrative in negotiating the legacies of violence and forging inclusive political futures.

This paper explores the interdisciplinary link of history, international relations, and literary studies, highlighting how literature serves as both a product and a producer of historical and political discourse. Through the analysis of key historical events, cultural exchanges, and representative literary works, the study demonstrates that literature not only reflects but also actively forms global ideologies, public opinion, and diplomatic engagements. Case studies including Things Fall Apart Beloved Half of a Yellow Sun prevalent historical narratives and foster cross-cultural understanding. By connecting literary analysis with historical and political models, the study proposes a narrative-informed approach to international relations that enriches scholarly interpretations of global power dynamics. The findings suggest that incorporating literary narratives into diplomatic and historical analysis can deepen insights into collective memory, cultural identity, and conflict resolution. The paper concludes by outlining directions for future interdisciplinary research, especially in light of emerging global crises and shifting geopolitical paradigms.

This paper provides an overview of recent findings that came out during
work in the project of restoration, preservation, conservation and site
management of Shatby Cemetery, Alexandria (2020-2023). The paper appears as a conference contribution entitled: "Alexandria and Hellenism in Northern Egypt" on May 7th, 2023, on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the Archaeological Society of Alexandria.

Film tourism has been attracting the interest of researchers in academia due to evidence of this phenomenon in destinations such as New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, and South Korea, thus creating a need to understand international scientific developments on this topic. Therefore, the objective of this research was to analyze international scientific production involving film tourism, covering the period from 1990 to 2019. The time frame is justified by integrating research that began in a master's thesis, which systematized international scientific production on the topic, allowing for a longitudinal analysis over three decades and ensuring methodological consistency in the present study. To achieve the proposed objective, exploratorydescriptive research was adopted, making use of bibliometric study, through the application of the three laws: Lotka, Bradford, and Zipf in 129 articles in English published in 56 international journals. In addition to the quantitative data, it was possible to observe that the literature on film tourism shows positive growth, albeit not linear, and that, as most studies on this topic deal with demand, there is a theoretical gap in studies that discuss supply and residents' perceptions.

This study analyzed the performance indicators adopted by all-inclusive resorts in the state of Alagoas, based on the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) perspective. Considering the growth of tourism in the region and the strategic relevance of hospitality for the local economy, the research sought to understand how these enterprises monitor their performance and use metrics to support managerial decision-making. The field investigation was carried out through a structured questionnaire sent to managers of resorts registered in CADASTUR. Of the seven enterprises identified, three participated in the survey, representing 42.86% of the population analyzed. The results indicate that financial indicators such as revenue, profitability, occupancy rate, ADR and RevPAR are widely used. Non-financial indicators, especially related to customer satisfaction and operational efficiency, are also frequently applied. However, the perspective of learning and growth presents less structuring. The Balanced Scorecard shows potential to align strategic objectives with daily operations, although challenges such as resistance to change, technological limitations and difficulties in data collection still persist. The conclusion is that the integration between financial and non-financial indicators strengthens strategic management and competitiveness in the hotel sector.

The state of Paraíba has become one of the most sought-after tourist destinations among Brazilians. Although it is widely known for sun-and-beach tourism, some regions of the state have gained prominence among visitors seeking alternative tourism experiences. One such region is the Brejo Paraibano, particularly the cities of Areia and Bananeiras, which are the focus of this study. These cities present climatic conditions that differ from those found in most parts of the state. Located in mountainous areas, they experience milder temperatures compared with much of Paraíba, where high temperatures prevail throughout the year. In addition, Areia and Bananeiras are known for their rich natural and cultural heritage, including Atlantic Forest reserves, waterfalls, and hiking trails, as well as important historical landmarks such as the Minerva Theater in Areia, the first theater built in the state of Paraíba. The selection of these cities is related to their distinctive climatic characteristics, which attract older visitors. Due to their milder temperatures, in contrast to the hotter conditions typical of many cities in northeastern Brazil, older tourists often seek these destinations in search of more comfortable climatic conditions. In this context, the main objective of this study is to analyze the accessibility conditions of tourist attractions and food and beverage establishments in the cities of Areia and Bananeiras, Paraíba, in order to assess whether they meet the needs of older adults.

This study analyzes the significance of the São Francisco Cultural Center (CCSF) for domestic tourism in João Pessoa, emphasizing its historical and cultural value as a tourist attraction. The research adopts a qualitative and descriptive approach, drawing on bibliographic and documentary sources as well as photographic records collected between 2023 and 2026. The findings indicate that visits to the CCSF can contribute to the development of local tourism by strengthening cultural identity and promoting heritage education. The study also highlights the importance of effective planning and management to ensure the preservation and sustainable use of cultural heritage.

ÖZET: Mısır’da, Kavalalı Mehmed Ali Paşa’nın torunu Abdülhalim Paşa tarafından annesi Nam Şah Kadın adına Kahire’de inşa ettirilen Memlûk üslûbundaki tarihî türbenin imâr ve otoyol projeleri gerekçesiyle yıkılması, kültürel mirasın siyasî ve idarî tasarruflar vasıtasıyla ortadan kaldırılmasının güncel bir örneği olup; bu fiil, yalnızca fizikî bir tahribat değil, aynı zamanda tarihî hafızanın silinmesine yönelen bir “devlet vandalizmi” ve “kültürel kırım” teşebbüsüdür. Kültürel miras yalnızca belirli bir devletin mülkiyet alanına indirgenemez, aksine milletlerin kolektif hafızasını ve insanlığın müşterek tarihini temsil eden evrensel bir değer niteliği taşımaktadır. Bu sebeple tarihî eserlerin yok edilmesi, yalnızca geçmişe ait maddî kalıntıların ortadan kaldırılması anlamına gelmemekte; toplumların tarihî sürekliliğini, kültürel aidiyetini ve medeniyet hafızasını da hedef almaktadır. Zira geçmişi inkâr ederek veya tarihî çevreyi ortadan kaldırarak gerçekleştirilen bir kalkınma anlayışı, toplumların kendi tarihsel varoluşlarını anlamlandırma imkânını da zedelemektedir. Devletlerin kültürel miras üzerindeki egemenlik hakları mutlak olmayıp, bu mirası gelecek nesiller adına muhafaza etme yükümlülüğü ile birlikte değerlendirilmek durumundadır. UNESCO’nun dünya mirası anlayışı ile John Stuart Mill’in zarar ilkesi çerçevesinde düşünüldüğünde, kültürel mirasa yönelik bilinçli tahribat yalnızca belirli bir topluma değil, insanlığın ortak hafızasına yönelmiş bir müdahale niteliği taşımaktadır. Balkan Savaşları sonrasında Balkan coğrafyasında Türk eserlerinin sistemli biçimde ortadan kaldırılması, Tibet’te tarihî ve dinî yapıların modernleşme politikaları adına tahrip edilmesi yahut Mekke’de tarihî İslâm mirasının büyük ölçekli inşa faaliyetleri uğruna yok edilmesi gibi örnekler, kültürel mirasa yönelik müdahalelerin yalnızca mahallî değil, küresel ölçekte benzer zihniyet kalıplarıyla ortaya çıktığını göstermektedir. Bu bağlamda Türkiye’nin ve Türk dünyasının, yalnızca kendi sınırları içerisindeki kültür varlıklarının değil, sınır ötesindeki Türk kültürel mirasının korunması hususunda da tarihî ve medenî bir sorumluluğu bulunmaktadır. ABSTRACT: The demolition in Egypt of the historic Mamluk-style mausoleum built in Cairo by Abdülhalim Pasha, grandson of Kavalalı Mehmed Ali Pasha, in memory of his mother Nam Shah Qadin, under the pretext of urban development and highway construction projects, constitutes a contemporary example of the destruction of cultural heritage through political and administrative interventions; this act represents not merely a form of physical devastation, but also an attempt at “state vandalism” and “cultural genocide” directed toward the erasure of historical memory. Cultural heritage cannot be reduced solely to the sphere of ownership of a particular state; rather, it possesses a universal value embodying the collective memory of nations and the shared history of humanity. For this reason, the destruction of historical monuments signifies not only the elimination of material remnants of the past, but also an assault upon the historical continuity, cultural identity, and civilizational memory of societies. The legitimization of such destruction in the name of modernization, urbanization, and infrastructural development gives rise to a profound debate concerning the relationship between past and future. A conception of development grounded in the denial of history or the eradication of the historical environment ultimately undermines the ability of societies to comprehend and sustain their own historical existence. The sovereign rights of states over cultural heritage cannot be regarded as absolute; they must be evaluated alongside the obligation to preserve this heritage for future generations. Considered within the framework of UNESCO’s conception of world heritage and John Stuart Mill’s harm principle, the deliberate destruction of cultural heritage constitutes an intervention directed not merely against a particular society, but against the shared memory of humanity itself. The systematic destruction of Turkish monuments in the Balkans following the Balkan Wars, the devastation of historical and religious structures in Tibet in the name of modernization policies, and the demolition of Islamic historical heritage in Mecca for large-scale construction projects collectively demonstrate that interventions against cultural heritage are not merely local phenomena, but manifestations of similar ideological patterns on a global scale. In this context, Türkiye and the wider Turkish world bear a historical and civilizational responsibility not only for the protection of cultural assets within their own borders, but also for the preservation of Turkish cultural heritage beyond them. The development of a common consciousness against acts of vandalism and cultural genocide targeting both tangible and intangible cultural heritage, the establishment of shared cultural policies, and the articulation of stronger international responses appear indispensable for the preservation of historical memory.

АННОТАЦИЯ: Снос в Египте исторического мавзолея в мамлюкском стиле, построенного в Каире Абдюльхалим-пашой, внуком Кавалалы Мехмеда Али-паши, в память о своей матери Нам Шах Кадын, под предлогом градостроительных и дорожных проектов, представляет собой современный пример уничтожения культурного наследия посредством политических и административных вмешательств; данный акт является не только формой физического разрушения, но и попыткой «государственного вандализма» и «культурного геноцида», направленной на стирание исторической памяти. Культурное наследие не может быть сведено исключительно к сфере собственности определённого государства; напротив, оно обладает универсальной ценностью, воплощающей коллективную память народов и общую историю человечества. По этой причине уничтожение исторических памятников означает не только ликвидацию материальных остатков прошлого, но и посягательство на историческую преемственность, культурную идентичность и цивилизационную память обществ. Легитимация подобных разрушений во имя модернизации, урбанизации и инфраструктурного развития порождает глубокую дискуссию о характере взаимоотношений между прошлым и будущим. Концепция развития, основанная на отрицании истории или уничтожении исторической среды, в конечном итоге подрывает способность обществ осмыслять и сохранять собственное историческое существование. Суверенные права государств в отношении культурного наследия не могут рассматриваться как абсолютные; они должны оцениваться наряду с обязанностью сохранять это наследие для будущих поколений. В свете концепции всемирного наследия ЮНЕСКО и принципа вреда Джона Стюарта Милля преднамеренное уничтожение культурного наследия представляет собой вмешательство, направленное не только против конкретного общества, но и против общей памяти человечества. Систематическое уничтожение турецких памятников на Балканах после Балканских войн, разрушение исторических и религиозных сооружений в Тибете во имя политики модернизации, а также уничтожение исламского исторического наследия в Мекке ради масштабных строительных проектов в совокупности демонстрируют, что вмешательства против культурного наследия являются не просто локальными явлениями, но проявлениями сходных идеологических моделей в глобальном масштабе. В этом контексте Турция и более широкий тюркский мир несут историческую и цивилизационную ответственность не только за защиту культурных ценностей в пределах собственных границ, но и за сохранение турецкого культурного наследия за их пределами. Формирование общего сознания против актов вандализма и культурного геноцида, направленных как против материального, так и нематериального культурного наследия, разработка совместной культурной политики и выработка более сильной международной реакции представляются необходимыми условиями для сохранения исторической памяти.

ABSZTRAKT: Az Egyiptomban lebontott, mamlúk stílusú történelmi mauzóleum esete a kulturális örökség politikai és adminisztratív beavatkozások révén történő megsemmisítésének kortárs példáját jelenti. A tanulmány szerint ez a cselekmény nem csupán fizikai rombolás, hanem a történelmi emlékezet eltörlésére irányuló „állami vandalizmus” és „kulturális genocídium” is. A kulturális örökség egyetemes értéket képvisel, amely a nemzetek kollektív emlékezetének és az emberiség közös történelmének része; ezért megsemmisítése a társadalmak történelmi folytonosságát és kulturális identitását is veszélyezteti. A Balkánon, Tibetben és Mekkában tapasztalt hasonló pusztítások azt mutatják, hogy a kulturális örökség elleni beavatkozások globális jelenségek. Ebben az összefüggésben Törökország és a tágabb török világ történelmi felelősséggel tartozik a határain belül és kívül található török kulturális örökség védelméért, valamint a kulturális vandalizmussal és kulturális genocídiummal szembeni közös fellépés kialakításáért.

Games are far more than mere entertainment. They are living records of culture, society, and human imagination across centuries. This volume presents the proceedings of the International Academic Game-a-thon, Playing with Memories: The Journey of Games, held online from 14th to 20th December 2020. Organised by INSTUCEN (India Study Center) Trust in collaboration with the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Maharashtra, the conference brought together scholars, researchers, and enthusiasts from across the world to explore the rich and varied history of games. This volume explores the origins and evolution of games from ancient and medieval times, examining how they reflect the social, political, and cultural worlds in which they were played. It further highlights the global connections between gaming traditions, with nine out of twenty presentations contributed by international scholars, covering topics ranging from the origins of chess and the archaeology of game boards to the use of artificial intelligence in reconstructing ancient games. It aims to demonstrate that games are not simply pastimes but powerful historical documents that deserve serious academic attention, and that documenting and reviving them is an urgent cultural responsibility.

The epic has constantly inspired various forms of artistic expression over the ages. The wall decorations of the terracotta temples of West Bengal can be considered as one of the finest examples in this context. Representations of scenes from the epic embellish the walls of the terracotta temples of West Bengal. It has been observed that, in contrast to the extensive depictions of the Ramayana, terracotta artisans paid relatively less attention to visually representing the events of Mahabharata. The study intends to ascertain the underlying reason for this issue. Furthermore, the study aspires to conduct a thorough analysis of the portrayals of the Mahabharata by exploring the thematic interpretations, narrative framework, and character development employed by the terracotta artisan. The study also attempts to comprehend the impact of Kashidasi Mahabharata, a popular and influential Bengali translation of the Mahabharata, on the concerned portrayals. The primary data for the research comprises the Mahabharata representations that are found in the temples. The Prose English translations of the Mahabharata by Krishna Dwaipayana Vyasa have been followed while identifying and explaining the portrayals. However, in certain instances, quotations from the Kashidasi Mahabharata are mentioned while describing the plaques. The study concludes that these portrayals could be considered as a significant visual archive in which artisans have skillfully translated a complex literary work into an easily comprehensible visual narrative.

After the revolution of 1848/49 a fortress building programme was launched in the Habsburg Monarchy which was designed to suppress further rebellions and to keep the state together. Most of the realised fortifications are still existent today and constitute a difficult heritage for the respective local population. By looking at the cities of Cracow (Kraków, Poland) and Lviv (L'viv, Ukraine), it will be examined how the material remains of the former Habsburg policy of suppression are treated today and what role they play in urban and regional identity discourses in the 21st century. The comparison between these two biggest cities of the former Habsburg province of Galicia is high in contrast due to the different sizes of the fortifications, they importance for the urban development of the respective city in subsequent decades and the meaning of the political system of the Habsburg monarchy, with which the buildings were tightly connected, for the history of today's national majority inhabiting the city. Therefore, this paper seeks to analyse the dynamic interaction between the concrete conditions of the material remains in historical and topical perspective and the heritage discourse around them. Furthermore, this paper will illustrate the regional limits of these discourses in opposition to the historical embeddedness of the initial fortification projects into wider trans-regional considerations. Accordingly, it will be analysed how the meaning of architectures, once trans-regional in their meaning and creation process, is reduced to a regional or even local level.

Urban economic regeneration has become one of the defining policy challenges of postindustrial Britain. Cities that once depended on manufacturing, fishing, and heavy industry have been compelled to reinvent their economic identities in response to deindustrialisation, population decline, and chronic deprivation. Kingston-upon-Hull presents one of the most instructive and underexamined cases of this reinvention. This paper examines Hull's regeneration trajectory across three interconnected phases: the legacy of post-industrial decline, the catalytic impact of the UK City of Culture 2017 designation, and the city's emerging repositioning as a hub for green energy manufacturing in the Humber region. Drawing on publicly available policy documents, economic data, and existing academic literature on culture-led regeneration, the paper argues that Hull's experience challenges simplistic narratives of culture-led regeneration by revealing both its transformative potential and its structural limitations. The paper concludes by identifying lessons for other postindustrial cities navigating similar transitions, and by situating Hull's trajectory within broader theoretical frameworks of urban economic development.
