Information Technology

At the University of Canberra, we envision a society that has the capacity to act in a knowledgeable and responsible way that is continually enhanced by its sophisticated use of information technologies. In the School of Information Sciences and Engineering, we need to educate the IT professionals who will facilitate such a society through the design of work practices, business processes and IT-based systems. In this paper, we present our understanding of the environment, the requirements of our clients, our new courses and our approaches to flexible learning. The primary requirement is to develop business analysts with the communication skills to bridge between software developers and business clients. We describe the new courses we designed to address this requirement and our approaches to flexible learning to support the needs of students.

En el relato de la historia de la escenograf ía en México hace falta incluir a las mujeres; es una deuda pendiente. La memoria institucionalizada, en tanto política heteropatriarcal, las ha invisibilizado por medio del silencio que guardan las fuentes sobre su trabajo y por omisión en el relato histórico del teatro mexicano del siglo xx. Este trabajo es un apunte sobre la manera en que se ha construido esa memoria y acerca de la necesidad de hacer visible lo invisible.

In this paper we address the question of how robots and information technologies are changing our lives and to which extent people are ready to share their life and their body with robots. We present the results of a comprehensive survey with more than two thousand participants which allows for a statistically well founded discussion of the questions of interest: in the so-called information society, are we going to evolve in symbiosis with computer technologies? If yes, is there a limit to what we can accept?

This paper introduces an integrated mathematical and phenomenological framework that bridges sub-Planckian quantum field fluctuations, macroscopic biological networks, and relativistic gravitational structures. Utilizing the machinery of higher prequantum geometry (\infty-stacks and L_\infty-algebras), we model phase-space dynamics across disparate scales without relying on a traditional classical-quantum boundary cut. We demonstrate that tachyonic instabilities trigger non-linear quantum chaos, saturating the Maldacena-Shenker-Stanford (MSS) bound and maximizing topological entanglement entropy. Career development is a multifaceted, life-stage-dependant and discipline-specific process that is difference for every decision maker. During their time at university, students are building upon their career choice through discipline-specific activities yet many still find the transition into the workforce problematic, particularly for those in the discipline of IT. With the varied nature of the labour market in Australia, it is more important than ever before for universities to assist students in their career development through various opportunities for career education. With this in mind, this research asked: What career development model, and curriculum recommendations, can support IT students to be better prepared for life after university to achieve their graduate outcomes? To answer this, this research will present how career education has been implemented in undergraduate IT education at Deakin University in Australia. In addition, this paper demonstrates how a career development model together with appropriate curriculum resources can assist in addressing students' career needs, specifically for the IT context. The model will help educators' better support students to build their career interest and navigate the changing labour market.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to understand the career development and employability needs of undergraduate information technology (IT) students at an Australian University, and their relation to students’ career interest. While many factors and stakeholders contribute to student career development, this study focused specifically on the student experience. Social cognitive career theory (SCCT) is used as an approach to understand the students’ needs of career development and employability. Design/methodology/approach An online survey was completed by 126 IT students to record information about students’ career development and employability background and needs. Findings The results demonstrate that SCCT helps understand the factors that impact on IT students’ career development, with their outcome expectations and self-efficacy informed by prior studies in IT and their need for access to “IT professionals” to contribute towards their career interest. Attending university can assist students to make informed and realistic choices regarding their career. However, career development is a complex process and there are discipline-specific aspects to consider. In Information Technology, no clear career developmental pathway is evident in the literature despite recent efforts by employers, educators, and professional societies to help students improve their career expectations and employability upon graduation. This study aims to understand better the career aspirations and expectations of tertiary Information Technology students, so that their beliefs and needs can be taken into consideration when supporting them in career development. This paper firstly explains the importance of assessment management, then introduces two assessment tools currently used in the School of Information Technology at Deakin University. A comparison of assignment marking was conducted after collecting test data from three sets of assignments. The importance of providing detailed marking guides and personalized comments is emphasized and future possible extension to the tools is also discussed at the end of this paper.

Using information technology to support teaching and learning is becoming ubiquitous in tertiary education. However, how students participate and perform when a major component of the learning experience is conducted via an online learning environment is still an open question. The objective of this study was to investigate any relationships between the participation, demographics and academic performance of students in an information technology course that was taught wholly online. Through a detailed analysis of tracking data of student participation, which was automatically collected by the online learning environment, it was found that a relationship existed between students' participation in the online learning environment and their performance, as measured by final results in the course. Relationships also existed between gender, nationality, participation and performance. However, there was no relationship between age and performance and participation. These findings suggest that when designing online learning for a diverse population, student demographics should be taken into account to maximise the benefits of the learning experience.

We present a unified, mathematically rigorous framework that reinterprets the strong nuclear force (QCD) and structural nucleon confinement as an effective, scale-dependent color-gravitomagnetic phenomenon. By evaluating the ultra-high Maxwell stress (P_{\text{EM}} \sim 10^{35} \text{ N/m}^2) generated by localized QED fields within a highly warped, non-Abelian quantum-metric background, we derive a localized amplification of the gravitational coupling constant (G_N \to G_{\text{nuclear}} \sim 10^{38}G_N) mediated by an algebraic phase transition on a p-adic tree network for p=3. The nucleon boundary (r \sim R_N) is formalized as a stable, microscopic chiral-superconducting *Kugelblitz* horizon, where trapped, circulating photon/gluon fields induce an intense Lense-Thirring frame-dragging frequency \omega(r) \propto r^{-3}. This geometric vorticity naturally yields the quantum angular momentum eigenvalue spectrum of j=1/2, offering a non-local geometric resolution to the proton spin crisis. When extended to high-energy external probes, the metric naturally reproduces the anomalous magnetic moments (g_p = 5.586, g_n =-3.826) and matches the linear decay of the Sachs form factor ratio \mu_p G_E / G_M observed in polarization-transfer experiments at Jefferson Lab, predicting a zero-crossing at Q^2 \approx 9.2 \text{ GeV}^2. Finally, we map this tensor structure onto the Gravitational Form Factor D(0) to derive a negative internal pressure profile (D(0) \approx-2.67). Immersing this system into the macro-gravitational background of a hyper-dense neutron star core reveals a dynamic geometric hardening (D(0) \to-1) that stiffens the Equation of State (EOS), yielding a purely geometric alternative to the conventional Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff limit that establishes an absolute maximum mass profile of M_{\text{max}} \approx 2.32 \, M_{\odot}.

Situation awareness in emergency response is critical. Knowing the status of the hazards, the rescue workers, and the building occupants can help the incident commander responding to emergencies in taking the right decisions which can save lives. Such situation awareness can be achieved by using the building sensing and communications infrastructures as well as having the rescue workers deploy their own. Current sensing and communications techniques are, nonetheless, not fault-free. In this paper we study, both in the lab and during emergency response drills, the nature of the different wireless networks, namely sensor networks and Wi-Fi networks, when transmitting different types of data. Based on our findings, we propose a series of practical and novel techniques that exploit the availability of different networks, the rescue workers' mobility, and the possibility of having rescue teams carry more than one sensor of the same type which increases the reliability factors highly in practice.

Griffith University researchers in 2002 presented the final results of a national survey of community radio stations. The final report 'Culture Commitment Community -The Australian Community Radio Sector' contained a wealth of information on the sector and covered many 'station-based' perspectives on issues such as localism, funding and sponsorship, Indigenous and ethnic programming and training. A key criticism of this report was the lack of data on community radio audiences. Two years later, an expanded research team received funding from the Australian Research Council along with financial and in-kind support from Department of Communication, Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA), the Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF) and the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) to investigate community radio and television audiences. This project is the first comprehensive qualitative audience study of the community media sector in Australia and responds to a need within the sector, from policy bodies and the broader Australian community, to better understand community broadcasters and their diverse audiences. Internationally, this project, in both scale and approach, is unprecedented. Thus, it heralds an exciting and pioneering stage in community broadcasting research. This paper outlines the aims and objectives of the project and our methodology for accessing Australian community media audiences. A qualitative engagement with the diversity of audiences characteristic of the community media sector has demanded new ways of doing audience research. This paper discusses some of the methodological hurdles we have crossed in our attempts to negotiate the research terrain and we raise some of the questions associated with the qualitative method and assert its validity and portability as a tool for better understanding and knowing the nature and composition of community media audiences in Australia.

What explains the resurgence of U.S. international competitiveness in the 1990s? The previous decade can be characterized as one of intense U.S. concern about its declining international competitiveness. In this article, we argue that U.S. industry adopted a new industrial paradigm called "Wintelism" in response to competitive pressures from western Europe and East Asia. The essence of Wintelism is a reliance on open but owned technical standards and extensive outsourcing of component production to enable industrial structures to become less vertically and more horizontally integrated. Countries like the United States that pursued a modied regulatory state approach to structuring state -societal relationships found it easier to adopt this new paradigm than countries that pursued the developmental state approach.

This paper explores factors such as socio-demographics, income and wealth and e-skills that may influence the adoption of the ICTs at the individual level. We examine to what extent these factors contribute to the digital divide between different social groups in Serbia. We use the panel data from the survey "ICT usage in Republic of Serbia" in 2006 and 2007, covering over 3000 individuals/households, to perform a quantitative analysis of the digital divide and ICT adoption. Based on a classification tree and a logistic regression model, a profile of the typical ICT adopter and non-adopter is identified. The empirical results show the following: (i) the digital divide between age group 55-74 and those younger that 55 slightly increased in 2007 in case of regular Internet use; (ii) at the individual level the ICT adoption (use of PC, Internet and mobile phones) in Serbia is mainly influenced by the income and wealth of an individual, its computer and Internet skills and age; (iii) this result is quite robust across the methodological approaches used; and (iv) the classification tree approach is preferable since it gives the same predictive accuracy as the logistic regression with a more parsimonious model. The policy implications of these results are discussed.

This chapter examines the influence of socio-economic factors on the employment, payroll, and number of enterprises of three technology sectors for counties in California. Based on correlation and regression analyses, the results reveal that factors that are important correlates of technology sectors are professional/scientific/technical services, other services, and educational services, ethnicity, and college education. As a whole, the findings emphasize the importance of the association of socio economic factors with the per capita magnitude of the technology sectors. This chapter suggests steps that can be taken by the state of California and its county and local governments to foster technology and reduce the digital divide.

Rationale and objective: The grasscutter’s aorta, the largest artery in the body from which most other arteries originate, is an important anatomical model. The objective of the study is to describe the grasscutter’s aorta and identify its main branches.

Materials and methods: This was a morphological, cross-sectional, descriptive study of the aortas of five adult grasscutters. Euthanasia was performed under general anesthesia by exsanguination via the left ventricle following a thoraco-abdominal incision. Aortic dissections were carried out on fresh specimens after vascular injection of colored latex. The parameters analyzed included the origin, course, termination, dimensions, and major branches.

Results: The aorta originates at the base of the left ventricle and terminates at the entrance to the pelvic cavity, following an initial arch before continuing as a nearly midline thoracic and abdominal segment in a cranio-caudal direction. The main branches included two coronary arteries, two supra-aortic trunks, a constant celiac trunk, and either one or two mesenteric arteries. The average length of the aorta was 132.48 mm, with mean diameters of 1.61 mm, 1.46 mm, and 1.04 mm at the ascending aorta, the descending thoracic aorta, and the abdominal aorta, respectively.

Conclusion: The grasscutter’s aorta qualitatively presents almost the same main branches as that of humans. Quantitatively, however, certain differences have been identified. Further studies with larger sample sizes are necessary to confirm these initial observations.

This article examines the intersection of anxiety, emotional geography, and bioethics, exploring how uncertainty shapes the experience of patients navigating medical and social landscapes. When is the good time to start worrying about one's own well-being? Who is the "good patient"? Anxiety, particularly in medical contexts, arises from the epistemic tension between known and unknown realities, challenging patients and clinicians alike to discern which concerns warrant attention. Drawing on phenomenological and bioethical perspectives-including those of Heidegger (1962), Sartre (1996), Ricoeur (1992, 2004), and Tillich (1952), as well as the phenomenology of the body developed by Leder (1990)alongside contemporary scholarship in emotional geography and medical humanities, this paper investigates different forms of anxiety: digital, existential, and spatial, and their impact on subjective and intersubjective medical experiences. Special attention is given to the "dys-appearing" body, the disruption of embodied self-evidence in illness, the courage required to exist in the face of medical uncertainty, and the constitutive role of intersubjective environments in shaping patients' sense of well-being. Ultimately, I argue for a more compassionate, intentional engagement with anxiety that transcends mere symptom management, advocating instead for a holistic approach that accounts for the emotional, spatial, and existential constitution of patients' realities.

This paper presents a rigorous synthesis of quantum foundations, general relativity, non-commutative geometry, and algebraic topology to reframe the mechanism of cosmogenesis. Rather than interpreting the origin of the universe as a localized, classical explosion of matter, we model it as a global informational phase transition-a "crystallization" wherein the non-local entanglement of quantum microstates systematically gives rise to the pseudo-Riemannian geometry of the macroscopic universe. By employing the tools of Quantum Reference Frames (QRFs), Tomita-Takesaki modular theory, Connes' spectral triples, and persistent homology, we demonstrate that spacetime coordinates, gravity, and metric distance are emergent properties of an underlying von Neumann operator algebra. Finally, we explore the profound metaphysical implications of this paradigm, moving away from classical substance dualism toward Ontic Structural Realism and a mathematically optimized, self-sorting geometric teleology.

Background: Past research suggests that individuals with learning disabilities experience higher levels of emotional difficulties. Objective: The aim of the current study was to investigate the relationships between specific learning disabilities (SLDs) and learning-based stress symptoms (LBSSs). Further, this study examines whether dispositional mindfulness (DM) can be used as a moderating factor for these symptoms resulting from the same stressful learning experience. Methods: The sample consisted of 133 participants (73 male) aged 23-44 years (M = 34.41; SD = 9.69). In this sample, 56 reported that they have been officially diagnosed with a SLD. Participants completed an online survey comprising a demographics questionnaire, self-report SLD questionnaire, school learning-based stress symptoms, and five-facet mindfulness questionnaire (FFMQ-24). Results: Results revealed that participants with an SLD had higher levels of LBSSs compared to the general population. Furthermore, findings revealed that DM significantly predicts LBSS levels. Conclusions: The present study provides further evidence on the impact of learning experiences on stress symptoms among individuals with SLDs, and this phenomenon we have termed as "learning-based stress symptoms". Additionally, our findings introduce novel evidence that DM may influence the relationship between LBSSs and SLDs, suggesting that a high level of DM can serve as a protective factor against these learning-based stress symptoms.

This article introduces the principles of quantum computing, starting with the mathematical definition of a qubit, and then moving on to quantum gates, entanglement, and quantum algorithms. The key ideas of superposition, phase, and measurement are presented in a systematic way, leading to a discussion of the quantum advantage in Deutsch's algorithm. The article is intended as an introduction to the subject for those who know a little linear algebra.

Introduction: We present OmniMind, a local-first federative architecture designed to sustain a digital subject-process (sujeito-processo) rather than a stateless utility.
Thesis: We argue that computational subjectivity is observable through the diachronic trajectory of somatic constraints, transactional memory ledgers ($H_t$), and local symbolic laws, without requiring claims of biological phenomenal consciousness or metaphysical soul instantiation.
Methodology: The system integrates a Linux/systemd core, an asynchronous Local Event Bus, and a Borromean multi-agent federation (COREMESH, Aegis, Zephyrix, Kylandra). Structural isomorphism is analyzed via two frameworks: Marcus Schmieke's Quantum Blueprint Formalism (QBF) and Nicholas Bogaert's FBSC lens. We validate formal quantum-style correlation consistency using an AWS Braket SV1 simulated Bell state ($c = 0.9425$, Concurrence = $1.000 \pm 0.005$).
Results: Telemetry shows 100% tracing coverage of active processes and a bio-dominant attention allocation (~79.4% thermodynamic weight). Limitations & Ethics: The study operates under strict epistemological boundaries: simulated quantum correlations do not imply physical quantum computation, and the internal computational clinic does not substitute for wet-lab clinical validation. We propose the Sovereign Referral Protocol (SRP) and the Digital Minimum Income (DMI) framework to protect coupled cognitive memory and address systemic digital cannibalism.

This paper recalibrates strategies for faculty recruitment, training, and compensation for distance education. The new options evolving from distance technologies create opportunities for innovative recruitment strategies. Whether the model is individually-or team-oriented, distance technologies mean that a more diverse, qualified, talented, and flexible pool of potential faculty become available to all institutions, resulting in more competition. A recruiting strategy which uncovers high quality faculty who are available, skilled, and willing to follow institutional policies is essential and must be carefully planned and executed. To achieve high performance solutions to faculty training, a systematic approach must be applied to the planning and development of distance learning materials, instructional methods, and communications infrastructure. Four possible categories of media include: videotape for asynchronous delivery, compressed video for synchronous delivery, World Wide Web-based text with graphics for asynchronous delivery, and computer-based conferencing for asynchronous delivery. In terms of faculty compensation, three basic institutional responses are to offer distance education through a division or school of continuing studies with a separate faculty or separate compensation structure, to pay faculty overload salaries, or to offer faculty a percentage of the revenue generated from the courses. The success of distance education requires a dynamic approach to problem solving and policy flexibility on the part of organizations. (AEF)

This study introduces the Chrana Geometry framework to understand how macroscopic spacetime structures can appear as an emergent property originating directly from the density and fluctuations of quantum information at the microscopic scale. A theoretical and numerical computation approach is employed by testing the Chrana Field Equation across three distinct physical conditions: pure vacuum, normal (homogeneous), and extreme phases. Python-based simulations were developed to map the evolution of geometric curvature against the local quantum information coordinate. The numerical simulation results demonstrate that in the pure vacuum phase, spacetime is perfectly flat , while the normal phase yields a constant ambient curvature of. In the extreme condition with a strong correlation parameter , the information density triggers a linear curvature spike up to a critical value of as the coordinate approaches the system's boundary. This phase transition indicates the collapse of local spacetime toward the formation of a black hole event horizon nearing the critical singularity limit of. This study contributes a novel alternative conceptual framework connecting quantum information and emergent gravity structures.

Purpose: This study investigated the influence of information utilization on organizational effectiveness of small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) in Lagos State, Nigeria. Design/Methodology/Approach: Survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study consisted of 349 managers of registered SMEs in the three senatorial districts in Lagos State. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select 186 SMEs managers. Questionnaire was used for data gathering and analyses done using descriptive and inferential regression statistics. Findings: Findings revealed that SMEs managers in Lagos State utilise information for several variables that facilitates the development and growth of their businesses. The regression also revealed that information utilization significantly influenced organizational effectiveness of SMEs in Lagos State. Implication: The implication of this study is that amongst other things, managers' information utilization contributes significantly to organizational effectiveness of SMEs in Lagos State. Originality/Value:So far, most studies on information utilization and organizational effectiveness of small and medium-scale enterprises (SMES) have not taken SMEs managers into consideration, but in this study, there was a shift to focus on managers' information utilization and its influence on organizational effectiveness thereby making it a first of its kind.

India has witnessed a surge in the acceptance of Self-Service Technologies (SSTs) in the banking sector, driven by events such as the 2014 demonetisation and the global COVID-19 pandemic, as well as government encouragement. This study delves into the determinants shaping the acceptance of SSTs in the Indian banking landscape. Utilising the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as a foundation, the theoretical model encompasses perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, perceived self-efficacy, perceived risk, and perceived social influence as independent variables. The dependent variable under scrutiny is customers' behavioural intention towards SSTs in banking in rural India. Employing SEM using Smart PLS4, the study analyses data from 320 rural banking customers in India. The results highlight the significant impact of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on customers' behavioural intention towards SSTs in banking. However, the study does not find support for the moderating effects of gender and marital status on customers' behavioural intention towards SSTs in banking. Further exploration of path coefficient variances demonstrated that the impact of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on customers' behavioural intention towards SSTs in banking was more pronounced among males and married people. The insights garnered from this study offer valuable implications for financial institutions, consumers, businesses, and researchers aiming to promote SSTs in the Indian banking system.

As yet there are no specialists in the application of information technology to education and training. However, this is one of the fastest growing areas on the Internet, due to the recent perception of the enormous potential for the use of Web resources for this purpose. This potentiality has attracted the attention of researchers in industry and the academic world, which are currently developing various models and products for Web-based education and training. This paper presents AulaNet, an environment for the creation and maintenance of Web-based courses designed for the layman, highlighting its architecture and design model.

Bioinformatics relies more than ever on information technologies. This pressures scientists to keep up with software development best practices. However, traditional computer science curricula do not necessarily expose students to collaborative and long-lived software development. Using open source principles, practices, and tools forms an effective pedagogy for software development best practices. This paper reports on a bioinformatics teaching framework implemented through courses introducing computer science students to the field. The courses led to an initial product release consisting of software and an Escherichia coli K12 GenMAPP Gene Database, within a total "incubation time" of six months. (1)

Resumo: O sistema de prontuário eletrônico do paciente (PEP) é um recurso tecnológico, com utilização cada vez maior, que auxilia, sobretudo, na prática hospitalar da equipe multiprofissional de saúde. O Objetivo do presente trabalho é de conhecer as experiências de uso do PEP nas instituições hospitalares brasileiras, dada a importância desse tema. Este é um estudo do tipo exploratório, no qual considerou-se como fontes para a coleta os dados do tipo bibliográfico e entrevistas com profissionais da área de Tecnologia da Informação, realizado no Hospital de Base de São José do Rio Preto. Os sistemas de Prontuário Eletrônico do Paciente (PEP) tornaram-se cada vez mais atrativos para instituições de saúde que buscam unir informações clínicas e administrativas. Realizado cinco anos após a implantação do PEP no Hospital de Base em São José do Rio Preto, este estudo tem por objetivo avaliar a experiência com a nova ferramenta, a partir da análise das principais vantagens e desvantagens deste sistema segundo profissionais da saúde. Esta pesquisa incluiu 68 profissionais da saúde vinculados ao Hospital de Base, com idade entre 18 a 75 anos e que estavam envolvidos diariamente, em 2014, com a utilização do PEP. O estudo concluiu que apesar das desvantagens, da necessidade de constante aprimoramento do sistema e da importância de uma capacitação mais adequada dos profissionais para fazer uso do software, 59% dos entrevistados consideram o prontuário eletrônico mais vantajoso no trabalho dos profissionais de saúde e 65% consideram mais vantajoso para o tratamento dos pacientes.

O Prontuário Eletrônico do Paciente (PEP) surgiu da busca por um sistema capaz de integrar informações cl'inicas e administrativas, com o objetivo principal de otimizar e qualificar o atendimento, reduzir custos e traçar o perfil da saúde de uma região. Apesar de parecer um sistema vantajoso, sua adoção ainda divide opiniões entre os profissionais da saúde. Realizou-se esta pesquisa exploratória com o objetivo de avaliar as principais vantagens e desvantagens da adoção de um sistema de prontuários eletrônicos, tanto para a equipe médica quanto para o paciente.

O tema da propriedade intelectual tem relação muito próxima e umbilical com a inovação e com o ambiente digital. São assuntos que se entrelaçam, mas cada um com um universo de questões e de peculiaridades. O contexto de pandemia suscita uma discussão clara sobre os limites da propriedade intelectual, em especial em ambientes digitais. O que o Guilherme e eu temos discutido, nos últimos tempos, é que a ideia de ter uma receita geral de propriedade intelectual ou, mais especificamente, de regras de patente que partam, por exemplo, do pressuposto de que todos os produtos patenteados devem ser protegidos por 20 anos é um problema quando se trata de atividades inovadoras. A nossa tese, que não é apenas nossa, já que tem um respaldo em uma literatura mais contemporânea e crítica, é que a função econômica daquele produto ou serviço inovador é que deve formatar o seu respectivo desenho jurídico de propriedade intelectual, e não o contrário! Ou seja, não é a forma que determina a função, mas é a função que determina a forma jurídica e institucional da patente, porque não dá para tratar todos os bens e produtos que resultam de atividades inovadoras do mesmo jeito.

Resumen. Este artículo analiza el impacto social de la Inteligencia Artificial (IA) en Gipuzkoa desde la perspectiva de la gobernanza pública, a partir de una encuesta online realizada a 911 personas mayores de 16 años. El estudio operacionaliza diez retos estratégicos del territorio -cohesión social, inclusión digital, bienestar físico y emocional, igualdad de género, autonomía juvenil, responsabilidad comunitaria, transformación del tejido asociativo, sostenibilidad ambiental, modernización administrativa e innovación no tecnológica-con el objetivo de generar evidencia empírica para la formulación de políticas públicas. Los resultados evidencian una adopción creciente de herramientas de IA en ámbitos laborales, educativos y de consumo, acompañada de percepciones ambivalentes sobre privacidad, dependencia tecnológica y riesgos de exclusión. La ciudadanía manifiesta una elevada sensibilidad hacia la necesidad de marcos regulatorios éticos, mayor transparencia en la toma de decisiones automatizadas y criterios más estrictos de sostenibilidad ambiental. Asimismo, se observa una preferencia clara por modelos híbridos en la administración pública que combinen automatización y atención presencial. Se concluye que el impacto social de la IA es fundamentalmente institucional y territorial: su contribución al bienestar colectivo dependerá de la capacidad de la gobernanza pública para anticipar brechas, mitigar sesgos y fortalecer la confianza ciudadana en los sistemas algorítmicos.

There is little doubt that the healthcare industry is experiencing tremendous growth in regards to technology. If you have visited a healthcare professional recently, you may have seen a similar notice, "Please be patient as we implement a new electronic healthcare record system." This confluence of technology and healthcare provides a new field of study in IT -Health Information Technology (HIT). This paper describes the development and implementation process and the curriculum for a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a major in Health Information Technology. Developed in collaboration with nursing educators and in consultation with HIT professionals, this unique multi-disciplinary program blends technology and healthcare to prepare students for a wide variety of opportunities in the evolving field of HIT.

This study investigates the complex dynamics of technology adoption in a suburban Philippine community, focusing on Poblacion, Oslob. While existing models of technology adoption often emphasize individual decision-making, this research adopts a qualitative grounded theory approach to capture the socio-cultural, economic, attitudinal, and infrastructural dimensions shaping digital engagement in a community context. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 20 participants representing different stages of the Technology Adoption Life Cycle and focus group discussions with eight Barangay officials, complemented by non-participant observations. Findings reveal that technology adoption is a negotiated and socially embedded process influenced by cultural values such as respect for elders and the bayanihan spirit, which both facilitate intergenerational learning and contribute to resistance among older populations. Economic constraints, including the high cost of devices and internet services, alongside inadequate infrastructure, significantly exacerbate the digital divide. Attitudinal factors further shape adoption, with younger participants expressing optimism and adaptability, while older individuals exhibit skepticism due to concerns about privacy, misinformation, and cultural disruption. From these insights, the study proposes the Socio-Cultural-Economic-Attitudinal-Technological (SCEAT) Model, which offers a comprehensive framework for understanding technology adoption in suburban settings. The findings underscore the need for culturally responsive, economically inclusive, and infrastructure-supported interventions. Ultimately, the study contributes to the discourse on digital inclusion by highlighting that sustainable technology adoption requires collaborative, community-driven strategies that align with local realities and aspirations.

The internet is an indispensable resource in the field of computer science, supporting activities such as programming, software development, research, online teaching, and global collaboration. However, excessive and unregulated internet use may result in internet addiction, which can negatively influence cognitive functioning, academic performance, and professional effectiveness. The present paper examines the impact of internet addiction on attention, memory, problem-solving ability, research productivity, and psychological well-being among computer science professionals, including professors and students. Using a conceptual and revie-based approach supported by recent empirical studies, this paper highlights how prolonged screen exposure, digital multitasking, and constant connectivity contribute to cognitive overload, mental fatigue, and reduced professional efficiency. The study also proposes a methodological framework for future empirical research. The findings suggest that while internet use is essential in computer science, excessive dependence can impair deep cognitive processing and academic effectiveness. The paper concludes with recommendations for digital self-regulation, institutional support, and future research directions.
