Purpose: The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is responsible for assessing and accrediting Indian higher education organisations. The Bar Council of India (BCI) made accreditation
compulsory for all legal educational institutions. This study aims to analyse the exclusive roles of libraries of legal educational institutes in the NAAC accreditation process, including responsibilities,challenges  and strategies for success significance.

Approach: The research adopts an empirical study. This research investigates the role of academic law libraries in the accreditation of undergraduate law programs at the University of Mumbai. The study
examines how these libraries contribute to meeting accreditation standards and identifies areas where improvements are needed. By examining the specific context of law programs and the University of
Mumbai, this research contributes to the existing body of knowledge on the relationship between academic libraries and accreditation in legal education.

Findings: This study shows the library's essential resources and services for accreditation. It shows
how librarians' skills are helpful for technological development in library services. University administration library policies help students acquire good scores in NAAC. Legal education institutions must conduct training programs, workshops, seminars and evaluation mechanisms to increase awareness of NAAC.

Value: The focus is on law colleges affiliated with the University of Mumbai as a case study. This study helps to create awareness among law colleges librarians about the role of the NAAC process. This study helps to understand law college library staff for preparation of NAAC grading. The population of this study covers all law college library staff affiliated with the University of Mumbai.

The extensive study looks at the online information-seeking habits and legal database reading preferences of HILSAR students. Both survey research methods and random sample strategies were applied in this study. 195 (81.25%) of the 240 HILSAR students and teachers that participated in the study returned the questionnaires. The results of the survey show that almost all of the participants are aware of open-access materials. Research on case law typically makes use of these sources. Through an analysis of the many methods in which law students exchange information, this has aimed to provide an incredibly experiential understanding of the information-seeking behavior and habits of both instructors and students. This study examines how law students and faculty at Delhi's Hamdard Institute of Legal Studies and Research (HILSR) choose to read and how they go for information.Delhi within a legal database with unrestricted access. Data from both law students and HILSR faculty members were gathered for the study using a mixed-methods approach that includes questionnaires and interviews. And furthermore. The reading and information-seeking behavior of law students and instructors at the Hamdard Institute of Legal Studies and Research (HILSR), Delhi, in the setting of an open-access legal database environment. It will be ensured by the findings that HILSR, law students in Delhi, and instructors are adequately equipped to use open-access legal resources for research and academic purposes.

Information literacy is a basic human right in the digital world as it empowers individuals in all walks of life of life to seek, evaluate use and create information effectively to achieve their personal, social, occupation and education goals. This paper attempts to explain the various aspect of information literacy to possess for the professionals to provide effective services in the digital world.

The library is an academic department at York College of the City University of New York and offers one-shot classes in information literacy at the for all other academic departments at the college. Since these library classes are taught by library faculty rather than by the subject professors, it is quite possible that they would not be aware of, and therefore not accommodate, the disabled students who attend these specific information literacy classes. This article recommends best practices for teaching librarians who may need to make accommodations for the disabled while teaching these library classes, currently used at York's library. The policy background that caused the library to do this is not only based in law but, as discussed here, it is also based in professional library policies put forward by the American Library Association. This article also reviews the history of services for the disabled in libraries.

Objectives-This study examined the role of libraries in supporting mental health literacy among students at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam campus. It focused on identifying mental health literacy needs, assessing impacts on academic performance and wellbeing, and making recommendations. Method: A descriptive survey design was used. Data was collected from 60 postgraduate and undergraduate students using structured questionnaires, with a 93.3% response rate. The data analysis involved frequency and percentage ratings. Results: Results showed a strong relationship between mental health literacy and academic performance. Many students lacked awareness of available library mental health resources, but those who engaged with them reported improved concentration, reduced stress and better problemsolving abilities. Conclusion: The study highlights the importance of expanding library-based mental health initiatives. Providing workshops, accessible resources, and collaborating with mental health professionals can enhance students' psychological well-being and academic success, reinforcing libraries as key support systems on campus.

Purpose. The purpose of this paper is to analyze and evaluate discovery layer search tools for retrieval of legal information in Indian law libraries. This paper covers current practices in legal information retrieval with special reference to Indian academic law libraries, and analyses its importance in the domain of law. Design/Methodology/Approach. A web survey and observational study method are used to collect the data. Data related to the discovery tools were collected using email and further discussion held with the discovery layer/ tool /product developers and their representatives. Findings. Results show that most of the Indian law libraries are subscribing to bundles of legal information resources such as Hein Online, JSTOR, LexisNexis Academic, Manupatra, Westlaw India, SCC web, AIR Online (CDROM), and so on. International legal and academic resources are compatible with discovery tools because they support various standards related to online publishing and dissemination such as OAI/PMH, Open URL, MARC21, and Z39.50, but Indian legal resources such as Manupatra, Air, and SCC are not compatible with the discovery layers. The central index is one of the important components in a discovery search interface, and discovery layer services/tools could be useful for Indian law libraries also if they can include multiple legal and academic resources in their central index. But present practices and observations reveal that discovery layers are not providing facility to cover legal information resources. Therefore, in the present form, discovery tools are not very useful; they are an incomplete and half solution for Indian libraries because all available Indian legal resources available in the law libraries are not covered.

Investigations into the development of commercial and property law textbooks (local and foreign) collections, an accreditation requirement in the South East Universities in relation to the Council of Legal Education standards were carried out. The scope consists of 98 titles of local and foreign commercial and property law textbooks listed by Council of Legal Education as accreditation bench mark and involves seven law faculty libraries in the universities South East Geopolitical zone of Nigeria that offer law programme. The areas covered include Company Law and Practices, Law of Insurance, Business Law and Banking, Taxation Law, Copyrights Law and Land/Property Law. The instrument for data collection was the standard check list released by Council of Legal Education. This check list was found appropriate and adopted for this study. Two research questions were formulated for the study. The findings revealed that only NnamdiAzikiwe University law library in the zone met the Council of Legal Education accreditation standards in Law of Insurance in commercial law textbooks collections. Recommendations were made which include among others the need for periodic assessment of collections, constant review and revision of the list.

By synthesizing current scholarly perspectives, the paper argues that technological integration in legal education must be guided by pedagogical soundness, ethical awareness, and regulatory alignment. It concludes that sustainable transformation in legal education depends on adaptive frameworks that balance innovation with inclusivity, ensuring that technology enhances, rather than diminishes, the quality and integrity of legal training.

This article presents a detailed examination of the prerequisites for a  valid and enforceable International Arbitration Agreement (IAA). An IAA must satisfy four essential functions: producing mandatory consequences, unequivocally excluding state court intervention, granting arbitrators the necessary power, and implementing an efficient procedure. The IAA's resilience is maintained by two foundational legal doctrines:

Separability, which treats the arbitration agreement as a distinct and independent contract from the main contract , and

Kompetenz-Kompetenz, which empowers the arbitral tribunal to rule on its own jurisdiction. Key validity challenges include

Formal Validity, where the strict "in writing" requirement of the 1958 New York Convention (NYC) Article II(2) conflicts with the liberal "by text" standard of the UNCITRAL Model Law (UML) , and

Substantive Validity, which demands unequivocal intent (consensus) and legal capacity, with Arbitrability acting as the final hurdle, subjecting the agreement to mandatory public policy limitations.

The enforceability of the IAA is most critically determined by its  Governing Law, which is autonomous from the law of the substantive contract. Where parties fail to make an express choice, courts use conflict-of-law rules, leading to global disagreement. Jurisdictions like England and Singapore employ a structured

Three-Stage Inquiry (the Sulamérica Test) to find an express, implied, or closest-connection choice. In contrast, major arbitration centers like Switzerland and France prioritize the  Validation Principle (Favor Validitatis), actively seeking a law that upholds the agreement's validity to provide greater legal certainty. To mitigate the risk of creating a pathological clause—one that is void, inoperative, or incapable of being performed —the article strongly recommends the mandatory express stipulation of the governing law of the IAA to preempt uncertain judicial conflict-of-law inquiries.

Purpose Best practices help to improve the quality of library services. Librarians can actively engage in these best practices, connect with their groups, attract more library readers/ visitors, and fruitfully recommend their resources and services. These library services and innovative practices can help to get a good score in the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). The significance of library best practices is to boost readers' research needs. It can help the librarian understand how to develop library services to encourage library book reading. Design/methodology/approach The research adopts an empirical study. This research investigates the best practices functional in academic law libraries. Such practices for physical and online library services encourage users to explore the library. Implementation of these strategies assists librarians in achieving favourable outcomes in NAAC accreditation. Findings The study will examine how libraries' innovative practices enhance accreditation standards and identify areas where improvements are needed. Best practices reduce the gap between readers and the library's collection and create awareness about available resources, including e-resources. This study contributes to raising awareness among library administrators and staff about various library services to enhance online and offline library usage. Best practices also help to improve the skills of library staff. As per the findings, the librarian has to promote library services. Research limitations The limitation of this study is that it is for law colleges affiliated with the University of Mumbai. The population of this study covers all law college librarians and library staff affiliated with the University of Mumbai. Though the total number of law colleges is 84, only 61 staff members responded to the questionnaire used for the empirical study. Practical implications The findings of the study contribute to enhancing the NAAC score. With the help of this study, library staff and those in charge of the library can show their capabilities in implementing innovative best practices in the library. This study helps to 1) Start various innovative library services to enhance library usage. 2) To create awareness among law colleges about the library's best practices for the NAAC grading. Originality/value This study is among the few papers in the library science literature on best practices applied in law college libraries. It increases our understanding of best practices in libraries.

The National Network of Public Libraries (RNBP, for its abbreviation in Spanish) was established in 1983 and the General Law on Libraries was published in 1988. This law is of national observance. The central library of National Law University Delhi has rich collection of law e-books from various publishers. These e-books were available to the faculty and students through different publisher platforms and it was difficult to find them subject-wise. Library is currently using LIBSYS-7 automation software. The paper depicts detailed experiment carried out to weave these e-books into library catalogue through LIBSYS-7. The whole technical process is described step by step and searching e-books through OPAC. The e-books can be searched subject-wise along-with print books and their full text can be downloaded through OPAC. This experiment establishes library catalogue as core source of information of all library resources. Users get benefitted to a great extent in finding their desired e-book through library catalogue. Other libraries having rich e-book collection may adopt this practice for the benefit of their end-users.

Few can doubt that the UK Human Rights Act 1998, in incorporating the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and in particular the guarantee of the right to privacy in Article 8 of the Convention into UK domestic law, and also in requiring the judiciary in s. 6 to have regard to the Convention in developing the common law, is having a considerable effect on the developing protection of human privacy in English common law. This was predicted when the Human Rights Bill was going through its various parliamentary phases by many, including the Lord Chancellor, who described the judges "as pen-poised ... to develop a right of privacy." 5 Also predicted was the way the expansion was likely to come about: incrementally and, initially at least, by means of expanding established torts. 6 The early judicial decisions that have been handed down since the coming into force in October 2000 of 1 QC, LL.D, (Cantab), DCL (Oxon.), FBA. A major concern discussed was access to older legal materials, especially for publications that are born digital. These publications are often updated as soon as new material is available, which leaves just the latest iteration available. This can have a severe impact on scholarship as well as access to justice initiatives. And as Jean mentioned, even if historical material is available, some may not know where to find it, thinking that if it's not available digitally, it doesn't exist. Using a personal example to bring home that point, Richard shared that due to his institution keeping historical material, he once helped the Department of Labor recover some departmental material that they believed was lost forever.

This article summarizes results from the author's recent law firm legal research survey. The survey determined what research functions, and in what formats, law firms require new hires to be proficient. Such information effectively answers the question of what sources and types of research should be taught in an integrated fashion. Recent conclusions by governing bodies and scholars that law schools should focus on preparing students for law practice 1 match perfectly with what law firm survey results indicate regarding legal research. Firms need schools to integrate the teaching of online and print-based research resources and to emphasize cost-effective research. Survey results show that the following federal and state specific print-based resources should be taught in an integrated manner: legislative codes, secondary source materials, reporters, administrative codes and digests. This is a challenge for legal writing and advanced legal research professors, where class time is already divided between a myriad of tasks. But such is a noble endeavor. As one author puts it, "[i]t may not be possible to prepare students fully for the practice of law in three years, but law schools can come much closer than they are doing." 2 Best practices for law schools should include changing from a test-centered outcome base to more of a hands-on input based means of instruction. 3 This author conducted extensive research in May and June of 2010 in order to ascertain the research requirements of law firms (Results are on file with the author; see also the Appendices for some survey results and comments). Survey questions identified which research tasks are most important in the law firm setting and in what formats those tasks should usually be accomplished. See Appendix A for a copy of the 2010 and 2007 surveys. The survey was administered to law firm librarians in the form of an electronic questionnaire that was posted to the Private Law Libraries Special Interest Section (PLL-SIS) of the American Association of Law Libraries. The observed increase in the killing of law enforcement agents in our society is quite alarming; as such, could trigger negative emotions, adding to their work related stressors; and death anxiety could be one of such negative emotion. This study aimed to explore the role of gender and profession on death anxiety among lawyers and police officers in Anambra State. Five hundred and twenty two (522) participants consisting of lawyers and police officers in Awka participated in this study. Among the participants, 326 (62.5%) were male while 196 (37.5%), were female. Their age ranged from 28 to 59 years, with a mean age of 40.77, and standard deviation of 7.44. A 15 item death anxiety scale was used in this study for data collection. The study utilized a factorial design, and Two-Way ANOVA was adopted for data analysis. The results showed that the first hypothesis which stated that there will be no significant difference between lawyers and police officers on death anxiety was accepted at F (1.518) = .119.p>.05 level of significance. In addition, the second hypothesis which states that there will be no significant difference between male and female on death anxiety was also accepted at F (1,518) =.002, P> .05 level of significance. Furthermore, no significant interaction was found between profession and gender on death anxiety at F (1,518)= .33, P > .05. Hence, the third hypothesis was accepted. Based on Vol. 2 No. 1 (2025), pp 1-15 the findings, the researchers recommended among others, that both genders should be giving equal chance to thrive in the studied profession; since they are not gender sensitive profession, in respect to death anxiety.

To think independently of any relationship is not to think at all. 2 Legal education research takes many forms: discourse analyses, jurisprudential studies, histories of institutions and movements, studies of educational interventions, empirical studies, theoretical studies and much else. Being a synthetic discipline, comprising at the very least law and education, such variety is to be expected and indeed welcomed. But there are infrastructural problems arising from our research practices. Legal education research focuses predominantly on single empirical projects and theory/practice/policy research. The field as a whole therefore develops haphazardly; there is little attempt to map it by various means and identify gaps in the literature, little co-ordination of research initiatives between academy and regulators on a sustained basis. There is a significant lack of longitudinal studies, very few ongoing and sustained data studies, no meta-reviews. Almost no systematic reviews of research literature are produced, few policy paper series, little in the way of a stream of historical literature on legal education that feeds into current developments and future innovation. Such lack of organisation and the thin historical awareness that it gives rise to, I argue here, constitutes a bar to the development of a rich legal educational research paradigm, and affects our ability to generate, curate and argue from evidence-based data and a richer jurisprudential context.

The LETR Report on legal services education and training (LSET), published in June 2013, is the most recent of a series of reports dealing with legal education in England and Wales. Earlier reports do not deal directly with technology theory and use in legal education, though the use of technology has increased exponentially in recent decades in all areas of social activity, not just in legal education and the administration of justice. LETR does deal with technology use and theory, however, and its position is comparable with at least two reports from other jurisdictions internationally, with the findings of two large-scale projects in legal education and has parallels with the regulation of the quality of legal education in another jurisdiction in these isles. In this article I set out that position and contrast it with regulatory positions and statements on technology and legal education in England and Wales going back to the 1971 Ormrod Report. Based on a review not just of technological implementations but of the theoretical educational and regulatory literatures, I shall argue that the concept of multi-modal regulation and ‗shared space' outlined in the Report is a valuable tool for the development of technology in education and for the direction of educational theory, but particularly for the development of regulation of technology in legal education at every level.

This article analyses Girolamo I Colonna's first stay in Spain (1621-1627) in the light of the account books and correspondence he kept during that period. The study of these sources has shown that Girolamo's stay at the Spanish court not only marked the beginning of his long career in the service of the Spanish monarchy, but also laid the foundations for his activity as a patron and collector.

Legal citation methods constitute a superb system of bibliographic references that maximize the information given while minimizing the space required. Such methods are demanded by a legal system that recognizes certain written sources as authoritative and are facilitated by having those sources in forms that are uniformly paginated or divided by paragraph or section. Miles Price provided the classic definition of the purpose of legal citation: "A legal citation has only one purpose: to lead its reader to the work cited, and this without enforced recourse to any other source of information, for data which should have been given in the citation itself." This paper examines the validity of Lotka's Law to authorship distribution and Zipf's Law of word occurrence in Doctoral Theses of Library and Information Science in the Universities of North East India. The data were collected during 2006-2015 and compiled systematically for analysis. A total number of 12707 citations were identified and tabulated in 8 different criteria to analyze and draw findings. The result suggests that author productivity distribution in Lotka's Law is not applicable to Doctoral Theses of Library and Information Science in the Universities of North East India.

Purpose. The purpose of this paper is to analyze and evaluate discovery layer search tools for retrieval of legal information in Indian law libraries. This paper covers current practices in legal information retrieval with special reference to Indian academic law libraries, and analyses its importance in the domain of law. Design/Methodology/Approach. A web survey and observational study method are used to collect the data. Data related to the discovery tools were collected using email and further discussion held with the discovery layer/ tool /product developers and their representatives. Findings. Results show that most of the Indian law libraries are subscribing to bundles of legal information resources such as Hein Online, JSTOR, LexisNexis Academic, Manupatra, Westlaw India, SCC web, AIR Online (CDROM), and so on. International legal and academic resources are compatible with discovery tools because they support various standards related to online publishing and dissemination such as OAI/PMH, Open URL, MARC21, and Z39.50, but Indian legal resources such as Manupatra, Air, and SCC are not compatible with the discovery layers. The central index is one of the important components in a discovery search interface, and discovery layer services/tools could be useful for Indian law libraries also if they can include multiple legal and academic resources in their central index. But present practices and observations reveal that discovery layers are not providing facility to cover legal information resources. Therefore, in the present form, discovery tools are not very useful; they are an incomplete and half solution for Indian libraries because all available Indian legal resources available in the law libraries are not covered.
