Ştefan Cristian Ionescu's Justice and Restitution in Post-Nazi Romania: Rebuilding Jewish Lives and Communities, 1944-1950 is an excellent piece of research. It covers the history of Jewish survivors of Transnistrian camps, of wartime Romanian Jewish refugees returning "home" from Palestine, and of refugees from Soviet annexed Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina. These survivors and refugees had their hopes dashed by the left-leaning and then the communist governments;  the new politicians were not ready to abandon years, decades, centuries of antisemitism that had become part of Romanian identity. Antisemitism outlasted the fall of Antonescu, sometimes hiding under class slogans. While the restitution of expropriated Jewish property became law by 1945, in part to convince Western allies to award Romania the contested territory of Northern Transylvania, a new communist expropriation was just around the corner for Romania's Jews and Jewish communities, along with many other property owners in Romania. One of the most intriguing aspects of this complex and bracing story involves the story of Jewish communists.

The activities of Dmytrashko Raicha as a colonel of the Pereyaslav Regiment and a prominent military officer in the Zaporizhian Host were examined. His marriage to the widow of V.N. Zolotarenko was noted to enable him to establish connections among the senior officers, which, in turn, allowed him to secure the position of a registered colonel. Precisely
these connections were shown to enable D. Raicha to regain the ereyaslav colonelcy just a few months after his removal by Hetman D.I. Mnohogreshny in 1671. Moreover, the same connections allowed the Pereyaslav colonel to participate in the struggle for the hetman’s
office in the spring of 1672, albeit unsuccessfully. unsuccessfully. Contrary to the prevailing view in historiography, according to which D. Raicha was involved in conspiracies against Hetman I. Samoilovych in 1676 and 1682, the study concludes that he was not guilty. The judicial proceedings of 1676–1677 and 1682–1683, which resulted from the hetman’s attempts to eliminate his political opponents, have been analyzed. It is shown that in both cases D. Raicha was spared the death penalty due to the support of the starshyna, and that his connections within the officer elite enabled him to take revenge on I. Samoilovych for earlier persecutions by participating in the 1687 conspiracy against the hetman, which ultimately led to his removal from power. It is also noted that participation in the conspiracy allowed D. Raicha to regain the position
of Pereiaslav regimental colonel; however, during his subsequent confrontation with Hetman I.S. Mazepa, he soon lost his office. The examination of the biography of this longserving Pereiaslav colonel helps to clarify the nature of relations between colonels and hetmans in the Cossack Hetmanate in the 1660s–1680s: despite a general trend toward
strengthening hetman authority, the colonels retained a significant degree of political autonomy.

Статья вводит в научный оборот автобиографию Исмаила Гаспринского, написанную в 1886 г. для Словаря русских писателей С. А. Венгерова. Это издание осталось незаконченным и материал о Гаспринском не был напечатан. Он сохранился в Отделе рукописей ИРЛИ в обширном архиве С. А. Венгерова. Автобиография ставит точку в некоторых спорных моментах биографии И. Гаспринского (о месте рождения просветителя, его учебе в Сорбонне, знакомстве с И. С. Тургеневым и прочем). Кроме того, в статье публикуется письмо И. Гаспринского С. Венгерову 1888 г., в котором он дает список современников-мусульман — деятелей литературы и публицистики.

Introduction. The Great Northern War (1700–1721) had a significant impact on the development
of military affairs in the Russian Empire, where intelligence played an important role in the course of military
operations. One of the sources revealing the organization of military intelligence in the army of Peter I is the socalled interrogation speeches. The funds of the Russian State Archive of the Navy contain a large array of such
sources. The study and analysis of these archival materials allows us to make a significant contribution to
understanding the development of the domestic intelligence service. Methods and materials. The methodological
apparatus of this work is based on a comprehensive approach, including source and formula analysis, as well
as systematization of archival materials. Analysis. The study of interrogation speeches for the period 1710–1720
makes it possible to form a certain system in the compilation of such documents and the peculiarities of interrogating
various prisoners of war. During the analysis of the surviving sources, it was possible to identify the main blocks
of questions of interest to the Russian command, depending on the combat situation. Results. The study
of interrogation speeches allowed for a comprehensive examination of the Russian army’s intelligence mechanisms
during the Great Northern War and an assessment of their practical significance. It was determined that interrogation
speeches had a clear structure, including an introductory and a main section. The content varied depending
on the source of information but always focused on current intelligence objectives. The status of the interviewee
directly influenced the nature and value of the information. The data obtained was not a formality; rather, it directly
influenced the strategic and tactical decisions of the command, ultimately contributing to the success of military
campaigns.

Монография научного сотрудника Института российской истории РАН Александра Дюкова посвящена малоисследованному историческому сюжету - произошедшему в австрийской Галиции в начале Первой мировой войны аресту российского подданного В.И. Ульянова (Ленина). Эти события помещены в специфический "спецслужбистский" контекст: прослежены контакты Ульянова с сотрудниками и агентурой австро-венгерской разведки начиная с приезда лидера РСДРП(б) в Австро-Венгрию влетом 1912 г. и заканчивая отъездом в Швейцарию осенью 1914 г. 

Автором изучены связанные с пребыванием В.И. Ульянова в австрийской Галиции документы австро-венгерских государственных органов, в том числе Дирекции полиции Кракова, Министерства иностранных дел Австро-Венгрии, Управления военного контроля Военного министерства Австро-Венгрии, Эвиденцбюро Генерального штаба (военная разведка). Впервые использован уникальный исторический источник, ранее не привлекавший внимание исследователей, - регистрационные журналы серии "К" австро-венгерской военной разведки. 

Abstract: The reviewed collection of articles presents a multifaceted study of the life and work of the outstanding Russian historian Robert Yuryevich Vipper (1859–1954). The focus is on his unique destiny as a “historian at a crossroads,” who passed through three distinct political and cultural contexts: imperial and revolutionary Russia, emigration to independent Latvia, and return to the USSR. Particular attention is paid to the least-studied Latvian period (1924–1941), when Vipper actively published in Latvian and significantly influenced local historiography by developing the method of comparative history and exploring issues of agrarian development and serfdom in the Baltic region. The collection meticulously analyzes the evolution of his scholarly interests – from early works on Calvinism and Antiquity to the philosophy of history and “new idealism” – and traces the forced methodological transformations brought about by changing eras and ideological systems. The review also draws substantive parallels between Vipper’s fate and the biographies of other scholars of his generation (such as E.V. Tarle and L.P. Karsavin), providing deeper insight into the tragic and adaptive trajectories of intellectuals in a turbulent era. В центре внимания оказывается уникальная судьба «историка на перепутье», прошедшего через три разных политических и культурных контекста: имперскую и революционную Россию, эмиграцию в независимую Латвию и возвращение в СССР. Особое внимание авторы уделяют наименее изученному латвийскому периоду (1924-1941), когда Виппер активно публиковался на латышском языке и существенно повлиял на местную историографию, развивая метод сравнительной истории и исследуя проблемы аграрного развития и крепостничества в Прибалтике. Сборник скрупулезно анализирует эволюцию его научных интересовот ранних работ по кальвинизму и Античности до философии истории и «нового идеализма»-и прослеживает вынужденные методологические трансформации, обусловленные сменой эпох и идеологических систем. В рецензии также проводятся содержательные параллели между судьбой Виппера и биографиями других ученых его поколения (таких, как Е. В. Тарле и Л. П. lThis interdisciplinary study combining historical-political and cultural-anthropological approaches, as well as hagiography, hymnography and iconography, reveals the complex history of the celebration of the Synaxis of All Saints of Russia, in close connection with the emergence and development of Russian nationalism and imperialism. Special attention in this study is paid to the opposition and transformation of the terms “Russia” and “Rus” as socio-political, ethnocultural and historical concepts. We refute the historiographical myth that this feast day appeared in the 16th-17th centuries. The celebration appears to us as an invented tradition, a simulacrum, created only in the 20th-21st centuries (1918, 1946, 2013) against a background of socio-political cataclysms in Russia, even if certain late medieval elements were used to create it. Today, this celebration becomes a means of cultural appropriation for the Russian church and society. The comparison with the liturgical practices of other Orthodox churches emphasises the specifically Russian character of this celebration and its inconsistency with the universal Orthodox tradition.

Every student interested in the long relationship between Britain and Russia knows the story of Richard Chancellor’s ‘discovery’ ofMuscovy in 1553. In the years that followed, numerous other British ambassadors and merchants followed in Chancellor’s footsteps. A number of them, like Anthony Jenkinson and Giles Fletcher, subsequently wrote accounts of their travels, more often than not telling stories of a frozen world governed by a ‘plaine tyranicall’ ruler, whose uncouth subjects looked with deep suspicion on travellers from the outside world. A particular kind of Cold War historian, seeking to put his work within the longue durée, can have a field day with the descriptions found in the writings of early British visitors to Moscow. В России ученый заслужил признание главным образом как исследователь отечественной истории XVI–XVII вв.; он считался исключительным знатоком архивов и исторических источников, прежде всего делопроизводственной документации этого периода. Благодаря научным работам в этих областях С. К. Богоявленский был избран членом-корреспондентом Академии наук (1929). В более поздние годы, достигнув почти 70-летнего возраста, он неожиданно расширил область исторических исследований, уделив пристальное внимание изучению прошлого Сербии, Черногории, в том числе русско-сербских и русско-черногорских отношений в XVIII в. События Второй мировой войны отчасти препятствовали исследованиям С. К. Богоявленского в области славяноведения, но отчасти также стимулировали их. Сравнительное изучение обоих вариантов позволило охарактеризовать содержательные особенности этой неизданной книги и прийти к выводу о том, что ее своевременная публикация, если бы она состоялась, могла бы существенно повлиять на исторические исследования в области славяноведения второй половины XX в.

In the academic biography of the outstanding historian, archeographer, and archaeologist Sergey Konstantinovich Bogoyavlensky (1871–1947), despite his well-deserved fame, there are still a number of unclear aspects. The scholar earned recognition among his colleagues primarily as a researcher of Russian history in the 16th–17th centuries; he was considered an exceptional expert on archives and historical sources, especially the administrative documentation of that period. Thanks to his scientifi c work in these areas, S.K. Bogoyavlensky was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences (1929). In his later years, at the age of almost 70, he unexpectedly broadened the scope of his historical research, paying close attention to the study of the past of Serbia and Montenegro, including Russian-Serbian and Russian-Montenegrin relations in the 18th century. The events of World War II partly hindered S. K. Bogoyavlensky’s research in the fi eld of Slavic studies, but also stimulated it. The scholar managed to publish only two articles on this subject. However, the amount of archival materials he collected and the works he wrote on the history of the South Slavs, which he mainly created between 1941 and 1945, are much larger in volume and broader in chronological scope than the two published works. Therefore, this article focuses on S. K. Bogoyavlensky’s unfinished work, which remains in manuscript form. This is one of his last historical works ― a book on the history of Russian-Serbian and Russian-Montenegrin relations in the 18th century. It has been preserved in two versions, both of which are kept in the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. A comparative study of both versions made it possible to characterize the content features of this unpublished book and conclude that its timely publication, had it taken place, would have had a significant impact on historical research in the field of Slavic studies in the second half of the 20th century.

This article examines V. B. Shklovsky’s Sentimental Journey (1923) as a literary work created in accordance with the conventions of oral narrative. The formal features of the text of Sentimental Journey are used for reassessing the fundamental theoretical theses of Russian Formalism and, in particular, the models proposed by the Formalists for conceptualizing poetic language and literary history.

The present text came out from a roundtable discussion on the topic “Christian Peace and Human Reconciliation” as part of a conference on Orthodox spirituality, organized by the Boze Brotherhood in Northern Italy in September 2014, titled “Blessed Are the Peacemakers.” The roundtable discussion featured Jim Forest, Amal Dibo, Alexandr Orogodnikov, and also Konstantin Sigov. Among other things, the issue of religious nationalism was highlighted as a key factor leading to armed conflicts, and the need to address with honesty the question of the blessing of weapons by the Orthodox Church was emphasized, an act that implies a theology of war entirely foreign to the Gospel message of peace.

Статья посвящена анализу так называемого дела Затлера — одного из наиболее показательных судебных процессов в России второй половины XIX века, связанного с обвинениями в коррупции в период после Крымской войны. В центре исследования находится фигура генерал-интенданта Ф.К. Затлера, отвечавшего за снабжение армии и обвинённого в злоупотреблениях служебным положением, а также князя В.И. Васильчикова, возглавлявшего следственную комиссию. На основе архивных материалов, связанных со следственной комиссией, в статье подробно рассматривается процесс инициирования дела, ход следствия, судебное разбирательство и вынесенный приговор, а также последующее смягчение наказания по решению императора Александра II. Особое внимание уделяется связи дела Затлера с усилением влияния военного министерства в преддверии военных реформ 1860–1870-х гг. Обращается внимание на мотивы следствия, которые заключались не столько в сборе доказательной базы против конкретного человека, сколько в желании показать несостоятельность всей военной системы накануне и во время Крымской войны. Статья отмечает противоречивость итогов дела: несмотря на формальное признание вины, результаты расследований не дали однозначных доказательств корыстных действий Ф.К. Затлера.

The article discusses issues related to horses owned by Hetman of the Zaporozhian Host Ivan Samoilovich (1672-1687) and his family. First of all, there are the esti-mate of their number is given in the article, information about their age and coun-tries of origin are also collected. The paper besides that examines the problem of usage of horses by the Hetman and his relatives when exchanging gifts with tsars, Russian and foreign officials, as well as between each other.

The Settlement of Certain Ethnic Groups from the Desht-i Qipchaq
in the Zarafshan Valley and Their Associated Ethnotoponyms
ABSTRACT
The Zarafshan Valley, also referred to in some academic sources as the Zarafshan Oasis, is a geographical region encompassing the basin of the Zarafshan (Zarafshan) River along with several adjacent provinces and dozens of districts. This region is divided into three major parts: Upper Zarafshan, Middle Zarafshan, and Lower Zarafshan. In antiquity and the early Middle Ages, it primarily included the Sogdian Oasis (Central Sogd – the territory of present-day Samarkand region), Karmana, and Western Sogd (Bukhara). The upper reaches of the basin were referred to as "Upper Zarafshan" (Panjikent).
The Zarafshan Valley became the cradle of dozens of major historical events, which were reflected both in written sources in various languages and in ethnographic and toponymic materials. Especially during the Middle Ages, in the 14th to 16th centuries in particular, this region served as a contact zone in the political processes that took place in the territory of Dasht-i Qipchaq and in the interfluve of Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers.

GOVERNING AS A MISSION OF HIERARCHS AND TSARS

Abstract: The article attempts to adapt Michel Foucault’s concept of governmentality to
analyze the history of power relations in Russia. The author traces the historical evolution of
the concept of “management/governing” (upravlenie) and related verbs (upraviti, ispraviti) in
the Russian language, relying on Foucault’s methodology and the works of Marc Raeff. Based
on Old Russian texts (The Sermon on Law and Grace, Vladimir Monomakh’s Instruction,

the works of Joseph Volotsky, the correspondence of Ivan the Terrible), the semantic shift of
the term is demonstrated. It is shown how “governing” transformed from a pastoral, spiritualmoral
practice (“direction to salvation” or “governing the soul”) into an administrative-political
function of a secular sovereign. Particular attention is paid to the role of Joseph Volotsky in
legitimizing the intervention of grand princes in church and moral affairs, as well as the
consolidation of the pastoral function for the Tsar during the era of Ivan IV, which became
a precursor to a specific Russian mix of power practices.

A New Imperial History of Northern Eurasia, 1700-1918 proposes a new language for studying and conceptualizing the spaces, societies, and institutions that existed on the territory of today's Northern Eurasia, until recently part of the USSR. Traditional concepts and genealogies that frame human experience have to be avoided or reframed: this is not the story of a certain present-day state or people evolving through consecutive historical stages. Rather, the book's point of departure is a modern analytical approach to the problem of human diversity as a fundamental social condition. In the form of cooperation and confrontation, various attempts to manage diversity fostered processes of societal self-organization, as new ideas, practices, and institutions were developed virtually from scratch or radically altered when borrowed. Essentially, this is the story of individuals and societies who creatively responded to their natural and social environments and sought answers to universal problems in unique historical circumstances.

This volume, which brings together leading scholars from the United States and Russia, covers the period during which the enormous landmass from the Carpathian Mountains in the west to the Pacific Ocean in the east, from the Polar Circle in the north to the steppe belt in the south was put under the control of a single polity: the Russian Empire. Previously, the competing local scenarios of self-organization had taken specific political forms that suited them best. This book shows that the Russian Empire faced the daunting task of coordinating multifaceted diversity within a single political and legal body, under constantly changing domestic and international circumstances. The study reveals that, to this end, the imperial regime employed various means, from violence to science, from segregation to integration, and yet was still unable to block multiple political actors within the empire from advancing their own strategies of belonging, resistance, and participation.

The book is dedicated to Venerable Irodion Iloezersky, a nowadays nearly forgotten saint, who lived in Belozerye in the first half of the 16th century. It dwells on his life and destiny, the story of his veneration by the local people in 17th–19th centuries, the story of composing his Life and its further existence as well as the story of the hermitage that has been founded by the saint’s worshippers in the place where he had accomplished his great deeds. The book comprises the texts of all the Life’s versions together with “Obysk o chudesakh” (“Investigation into the Miracles”), the unique text composed on the eve of Ven. Irodion’s canonization in the mid-17th century, and provides a thorough historical and philological commentary.

о русской литературе 1890-х–1920-х гг., кратко описывающий смену литературных направлений и течений этого времени. Во вступительной статье на основе архивных документов реконструируется биография Жихаревой, приводятся
ее автобиография 1947 г., а также фрагменты из ее писем к Л. Л. Слонимской за 1945–1950 г., демонстрирующие мастерское владение эпистолярным жанром.

During the Seven Years' War (1756-63), the Russian 'Expeditionary Army' fought against Frederick the Great in Prussia. As well as regimental priests, an Orthodox 'chief priest' Ioann Bogaevsky from Ukraine was appointed, who was tasked with organizing the spiritual care of the army. Alongside him, Pastor Christian Täge, whose memoirs survive, was commissioned as Protestant chaplain. Based on their personal testimonies and unpublished archival materials, this article aims to reconstruct the organization of the military clergy in the Russian Imperial Army of the eighteenth century, taking into account its multi-ethnic and multiconfessional character. With this army including Protestants, Roman Catholics, Muslims, Buddhists, and even pagans in addition to Orthodox Christians, this article also considers what religious coexistence looked like in practice, shedding light on forms of military religiosity. Contrary to perceptions of the irreligiousness of the military, not only is their active participation in church sacraments noted, but also the persistent tension between religious and rational attitudes to warfare, which were clearly evident in conflicts about adherence to traditional practices of piety.

The 1937 deportation from the Soviet Far East was the greatest tragedy in the history of Soviet Koreans, Koryo-saram, the self-designation of ethnic Koreans living across the former Soviet Union. It became the first case in Soviet history in which an entire ethnic group was forcibly relocated solely on the basis of ethnicity. Later, Soviet Germans, Crimean Tatars, Chechens, Ingush, Kalmyks, Poles, Kurds, and many other peoples would endure similar repression.
For decades, this history remained largely suppressed, giving rise to numerous myths and misconceptions surrounding the deportation.

Рассматриваемый агиографический сборник XVI в. содержит ряд текстов, непосредственно связанных с прославлением Иосифа Волоцкого: неизвестное похвальное слово и минейное житие первой и третьей редакций. Внимательное их изучение дает основания выдвинуть гипотезу о волоколамском происхождении
рукописи. Судя по всему, она была составлена в первой половине 1580-х гг., вслед за канонизацией Иосифа Волоцкого в конце 1578 г.

The war between the Grand Duchy of Moscow and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, which began in 1512, clearly showed the changing balance of power in Eastern Europe.
On July 31, 1514, the Muscovites, under the command of the Grand Duke of Moscow, Vasyl III, besieged Smolensk. Their advanced detachments advanced further west to the Berezina (approximately 230 km from Smolensk) and showed a clear intention to capture the entire Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
The Lithuanian army pushed the Muscovites east and defeated them in a major battle near Orsha (110 km west of Smolensk). However, the Lithuanians did not have enough strength to recapture Smolensk, which until 1611 was part of the Muscovite state.
The demarcation that emerged at the end of 1514 was fixed by the truce of 1522. This border, changing its status, still serves as the state border of Russia and Belarus today. In this work, I want to consider the prerequisites, course, and consequences of the war.

This is a critical review of Kimitaka Matsuzato's book about the upheaval in Ukraine. Matsuzato is a well-known specialist in post-Soviet politics, and I appreciate his richly detailed, fieldwork-based descriptions of local politics in Crimea and the Donetsk People's Republic. However, the book contains serious analytical flaws and unjustifiable claims. First, Matsuzato traces the conflict's roots to the dissolution of the Soviet Union and criticizes the international community for having recognized post-Soviet states involved in territorial conflicts. He cites with approval the opinion that colonial and dependent state statuses should be revived for weak states. Second, key incidents are handled one-sidedly. Most notably, the 2014 sniper massacre is presented largely through Katchanovski's assertion that it was a false-flag operation by Maidan leaders, while counterevidence is ignored. The "chain of violence," which allegedly led from Maidan to the 2022 Russian invasion, is never substantiated. Third, the political analysis is biased. "Populism" is applied to Zelenskyy and other Ukrainian politicians without an academic definition. Ukrainian leaders are alternately portrayed as manipulating and being manipulated by public opinion, as well as by the West. Thus, the author tends to dismiss Ukrainian agency. Fourth, the author underestimates Russia's role in the Donbas conflict and fails to engage with scholarly literature on the transnationalized character of the conflict. He further alleges that the Russo-Ukrainian War resulted from a failure to manage the conflict. Despite the author's occasional critical mentions of Russia, the country almost disappears from the chapter summaries and the book's conclusion. Furthermore, he proposes inapplicable solutions to the war, such as shared sovereignty, trusteeships, and territorial concessions. I conclude that the author's overall thesis that "the Ukrainian problem is, in the first instance, a Ukrainian problem" is erroneous in the context of the Russo-Ukrainian War. The war started by Russia is, in the first instance, a Russian problem.

This publication attempts to systematize the materials necessary for a comprehensive study of the
activities of the Consecrated Councils of the Old Believer Church of the Belokrinitsky Hierarchy. The
index includes documents from three archives — the Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts (RGADA),
the Manuscript Department of the Russian State Library (OR RSL), and the Archive of the Metropolitan
of Moscow and All Rus’ of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church (Archive of the MM and AR
ROOBC), as well as materials from a unique book of original resolutions held in a private collection and
editions of pre-revolutionary council resolutions. The period covered — from 1863 to 1916 — allows us
to trace important stages in the development of church governance. In 1863, Anthony (Shutov) became
Archbishop of Moscow. At the same time, disagreements with the Belokrinitsky Metropolitanate, whose
influence the Russian bishops sought to weaken, began to mount. At the same time, new restrictions
were being imposed on the Old Believers within the Russian Empire, hindering their active hierarchical
activities. This led to the creation of the Moscow Spiritual Council — a temporary church governing body
empowered to replace the Holy Council and resolve the problems of all Church members. Consecrated
Councils were held extremely irregularly and disorganized and ceased to function until 1898. In 1898, the
first Consecrated Council after a long hiatus was held in Nizhny Novgorod. Thanks to the active work
of Bishop Arseny of the Urals, old principles of Church governance were revised, and a new tradition of
holding Councils was established. The Moscow Spiritual Council was abolished. This publication provides
an opportunity to comprehensively examine the evolution of church governance in the Old Believers and
gain a deeper understanding of the decision-making mechanisms during this historical period.

Литовское войско отбросило москалей к востоку и разгромило их в великой битве под Оршей (110 км к западу от Смоленска). Однако литовцам не хватило сил, чтобы отвоевать Смоленск, до 1611 г. находившийся в составе Московского государства.
Разграничение, сложившееся на конец 1514 г., было закреплено перемирием 1522 г. Эта граница, меняя свой статус, вплоть до сегодняшнего дня служит государственной границей России и Белоруссии. В этой работе я хочу рассмотреть предпосылки, ход и последствия войны.

Введение. В статье предложено новое решение важного вопроса русского летописания – отношение Троицкого списка Новгородской первой летописи младшего извода к двум другим спискам летописи – Комиссионному и Академическому. В предшествующей историографии нет консенсуса о взаимоотношении трех списков Новгородской первой летописи младшего извода. Методы и материалы. Анализ проводится с использованием сравнительно-текстологического метода изучения текстов. Попарно рассматриваются вторичные чтения списков на участке от начала до середины статьи 6523/1015 г. Для выявления вторичных чтений привлекаются списки других близкородственных летописей. Анализ. Представлены текстологические наблюдения над общим текстом всех трех списков Новгородской первой летописи младшего извода. Результаты. На основе сплошного текстологического анализа показано, что составитель Комиссионного списка использовал попеременно (чересполосно) два своих источника: общий протограф с Троицким списком и общий протограф с Академическим. Определены участки заимствования составителям Комиссионного списка. Cоставитель Комиссионного списка с 854 г. по середину статьи 945 г. пользовался текстом своего общего протографа с Троицким списком, далее, до 971 г., общим протографом с Академическим. Статья 980 г. начинается с заимствования из общего протографа с Троицким списком, а продолжается вплоть до статьи 983 г. текстом общего протографа с Академическим. В статье 986 г. вновь составитель Комиссионного списка привлекает текст общий с Троицким. Начиная же со статьи 987 г. составитель Комиссионного списка, возможно, использует какой-то один из своих источников или оба, но точно установить это весьма затруднительно. Такой характер работы с источниками не является уникальным в русском летописании. Наблюдения открывают возможность полноценного использования текста Троицкого списка Новгородской первой летописи младшего извода в научных исследованиях.

Розмежування, яке склалось на кінець 1514 р., було закріплене перемир’ям 1522 р. Цей кордон, змінюючи свій статус, аж до сьогодні править за державний кордон Росії та Білорусії. В цій роботі я хочу розглянути передумови, перебіг та наслідки війни.

Сегодня, 17 мая 2026 года, люди в Москве прощаются с Ниной Михайловной Литвиновой. Перед тем, как выброситься из окна 12 мая, Литвинова оставила записку, в которой были слова, обращенные к близким и друзьям: «Я всех вас люблю и думаю о вас. Но я должна уйти, мне жить невыносимо. С тех пор как Путин напал на Украину и убивает невинных людей, а у нас бесконечно сажает в тюрьмы тысячи людей, которые мучаются и погибают там за то, что они, как и я, против войны и против убийств. Я ничем не могу им помочь. Женя Беркович, Светлана Петрийчук, Карина Цуркан и тысячи других за решёткой страдают и умирают. The French historian Élisabeth Labrousse dedicated a monograph to the solar eclipse of 1654, an event that sparked widespread debate and panic across Europe, including in Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. This study examines predictions related to the eclipse in: the work of Andrea Argoli, the European almanacs and calendars, the prognostication by the German astrologer Stefan Furman as well as the contemporary discussions in Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Special attention is given to the role of astrology in elite society, particularly its connection to war prophecies. The eclipse became a focal point for clergy, nobility, and astrologers, whose interpretations varied dramatically. Forecasts of imminent wars and epidemics exacerbated apocalyptic fears, with many perceiving war as a literal apocalypse.

Introduction. The scientific literature shows that the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery was large and significant in medieval Russia. Scientists have repeatedly addressed the study of contributions and the social composition of contributors to this monastery. It was found out that Ivan IV made the largest monetary donations, but the fate of material contributions was not the subject of special study. Methods and materials. Information about contributions is available in the contributions and feed books. The original icons, chasubles, and vessels are described in more detail in the inventories of buildings and property of 1601, 1615, 1621, 1635, and 1668. Comparative and retrospective methods were used to analyze these sources. Analysis. The analysis of the sources shows that the land, material, and monetary contributions to the monastery were not something unshakable. So, the depositor could take the money and transfer it to another monastery; in turn, the monks could sell the received material assets, or they could leave them in the sacristy, and, of course, according to the royal will, the monastery could either receive grants or lose them. Ivan IV Vasilyevich was the largest and most famous contributor to the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery. The article compares information about his contributions in the contribution book of 1559/60-1620s and inventories of buildings and property of the 17 th century. In the world of things of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery of the 17 th century, some particularly significant material contributions of Ivan IV were in second place after the personal items of Kirill Belozersky. The contributions of the representatives of the Paletsky princes' family were less valuable in monetary terms, but mentions of them, along with the names of depositors, are found in the inventories of the 17 th century. Results. In the second half of the 16 th century-first third of the 17 th century, the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery was for the tsar, boyars, and princes (who were active in the 1560s-1580s) not only a place of removal but also a kind of meeting place and, to some extent, a place of reconciliation. Elder Bogolep Paletsky will outlive Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich, and their contributions will be located in the same temples and in the same monastery. The memory of depositors and contributions of the 1560s will be kept in the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery in the 17 th century, although it will transform, disappear, and reappear, and some things will be repaired, updated, or irretrievably used for the needs of the monastery.

Su amigo íntimo Vladimir Soloviev, en los discursos que realiza en memoria de Dostoievski, escribe que éste salió de la cárcel espiritualmente regenerado y con algunas convicciones muy claras en su cabeza: una de estas es que la verdad universal tiene sus raíces en el sentimiento del pueblo, de todo el pueblo en su conjunto y no sólo en algunas personas, y que esta verdad tiene un significado religioso y está estrechamente conectada con la persona de Cristo (Soloviev, 1916: 30). En estos años de encarcelamiento el único libro que pudo leer fue un evangelio que le regalaron las mujeres de los decembristas. Su conversión tuvo su centro en la persona de Cristo. Escribirá años después: He concebido en mí un símbolo de fe, en el que todo para mí es claro y santo. Este símbolo es muy simple, y suena así: creer que no hay nada más hermoso, más profundo, más simpático, más razonable, más virtuoso y más perfecto que Cristo; y no sólo hay, sino con amor celoso, digo que ni siquiera puede haberlo. No sólo eso, sino que si alguien me mostrara que Cristo está fuera de la verdad, y si fuera cierto que la verdad está fuera de Cristo, entonces preferiría permanecer con Cristo en lugar de con la verdad (Dostoievski, 1854: 176).

Среди памятников древнерусского канонического права выделяется несколько небольших и, к сожалению, мало востребованных в отечественной исторической и церковноправовой науке текстов. Одним из таковых является «П равило на обидящих церкви и духовную иepapxию, приписываемое пятому вселенскому собору». Апелляция новгородского архиепископа Геннадия к этому Правилу позволяет говорить о том, что данный памятник был хорошо известен на протяжении XIV в. и рассматривался современниками в качестве важнейшего церковного документа, призванного защитить Церковь от внешних посягательств (покушений со стороны княжеской власти и ее людей). Большинство исследователей, обращавшихся к данному памятнику, вынуждены признать, что это фальсификат, рожденный потребностями времени. Однако насколько существенной видится проблема защиты церковных прав и владений от князей? Судя по всему, вполне обоснованной. Известия летописания убеждают, что покушения князей на церковные сокровища приобрели особую остроту уже в конце XIII в. Проблема не была в полной мере разрешена даже в XV в. Поэтому памятник должен рассматриваться в общей связи с летописными известиями и иными подобными церковно-правовыми документами, преимущественно грамотами. Вместе с тем возникает вопрос о церковно-правовой культуре привлечения древнерусскими церковными иерархами подобных подделок для защиты своих и церковных интересов и прав.
