🚁France & Australia: Building the Future of Aerial Firefighting Together Gabrielle M. was delighted to represent Business France Australia this week at the Aerial Fire Fighting Asia Pacific 2026, bringing together key stakeholders of the aerial firefighting ecosystem. It was a great opportunity to meet with major industry leaders and attend panels and presentations from Australian state fire services: Queensland Fire Department, Fire Rescue Victoria, NSW Rural Fire Service. 👉They provided valuable insights into the evolving challenges and needs facing the sector, particularly as Australia continues to experience increasingly frequent and severe bushfire seasons. 🛩️French expertise was represented through innovative companies developing multi-role aircraft, helicopters and firefighting aircraft of tomorrow: Kepplair Evolution, HYNAERO SAS, Airbus. 🔥Finally, an example of the long-standing cooperation between France and Australia was highlighted by McDermott Aviation, showcasing its partnership with Safran Helicopter Engines. 🚒 The strong cooperation between France and Australia in the field of aerial firefighting is more important than ever. 🚀 Day 2 at AUSSPACE 2026 One of today's highlights was the panel on international space collaboration, expertly moderated by Lisa Vitaris, MBA GAICD CompIEAust EngExec, (AIAA). The discussion brought together an outstanding group of international representatives: - Gilles Barrier, Consul-General of France in Sydney, representing France's diplomatic and economic engagement with Australia. - Naoko Sugita, Advisor to the Director Earth Observation Research Center, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency bringing the perspective of Japan's Earth observation and space research community. - Marco Lazzarino, Scientific attaché for the Italian Embassy supporting scientific and technological cooperation between Italy and Australia. - Marko Ham, Slovenian Ambassador supporting international partnerships and innovation links between Slovenia and Australia. A key takeaway from the discussion was that the future of the space sector depends on international cooperation, and cooperation is built on trust. Particular attention was given to Australia's space ecosystem with Horizon Europe, which is creating new opportunities for Australian and European organisations to collaborate in areas such as sustainability, Earth Observation (EO), Space Situational & Domain Awareness (SSA/SDA), and climate monitoring. The importance of sustainability was also highlighted by Maire Le Pellec, Deputy Director of the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI), who emphasised that responsible growth must remain at the heart of the industry's future. Business France at AUSSPACE 2026 in Sydney - Day 1 🚀 🪐 The Business France Australia team, represented by Jean-joseph Parre, together with Maxime Belkessa from the Economic Department of The Embassy of France in Australia, was pleased to attend AUSSPACE 2026, one of Australia's leading events dedicated to the space industry. This year's edition once again highlighted the growing dynamism of Australia's space ecosystem and the quality of exchanges between industry leaders, researchers, government agencies, space organisations, investors and international partners. We would like to acknowledge the outstanding quality of the keynote presentations and panel discussions throughout the summit, which addressed a range of strategic topics including sovereign space capabilities, dual-use technologies, Space Domain Awareness, advanced manufacturing, and international cooperation. A special thank you to Marie Le Pellec, PhD (European Space Agency) for taking the time to discuss the critical challenges and opportunities surrounding space sustainability, an increasingly important topic for the long-term future of the global space sector. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to AIAA , Lisa Vitaris, MBA GAICD CompIEAust EngExec, Space Connect and the Space Industry Association of Australia (SIAA) for their invitation and for organising such a high-quality event bringing together the key stakeholders shaping the future of the Australian space industry.
