Quinz is pleased to have advised pharma.be on the drafting of the renewed Animal Health Code of Conduct, recently published by pharma.be.   The new Code updates the sector’s ethical framework for companies active in veterinary medicines in Belgium. It reflects today’s legal and regulatory landscape, including recent European developments, while also aligning with the codes of AnimalHealth Europe and HealthforAnimals and pharma.be’s code of deontology for human medicines. It provides, amongst other things, clearer guidance on responsible communication and interactions with animal healthcare professionals and stakeholders so as to reinforce pharma.be’s commitment to responsible and ethical practices within the sector.   We are proud to have supported pharma.be in the revision of this important self-regulatory initiative for the animal health sector.   Congratulations to pharma.be and its Animal Health group on this milestone.

Strong legal expertise deserves equally strong communication skills.   Last week, our lawyers took part in an interactive communication skills training focused on practical techniques they can immediately apply in their daily practice.   A sincere thank you to our trainer, Stefanie Van Moen - VOX (Vox Consult) for delivering such an engaging session, and to everyone who participated with enthusiasm!

In Belgium, the FAMHP has issued new guidance on the interpretation of Article 10 of the Law of 25 March 1964, addressing some long standing uncertainties surrounding the provision of benefits and advantages in the life sciences sector. The guidance confirms the general prohibition on granting or receiving premiums and advantages in connection with the prescribing, supply or use of medicinal products and medical devices, subject only to narrowly construed exceptions. It also offers practical examples and conditions, making it a key reference point for day to day compliance. Importantly, the guidance has a direct impact on the organisation and sponsorship of scientific events, including changes to Mdeon’s visa practice. While formally interpretative, the document sets out clear expectations from the Belgian regulator and is expected to play a central role in compliance assessments and enforcement practice. Against a backdrop of persistent shortages and recent global disruptions, the European Parliament and Council have reached a provisional agreement on the Critical Medicines Act (CMA), marking a significant step as it aims to secure supply chains, reinforce EU manufacturing capacity, and improve availability of critical medicines across Member States. The CMA introduces a more structured framework to strengthen the security and resilience of supply chains for critical medicines, combining regulatory tools with targeted industrial policy measures. Key elements include the promotion of EU-based manufacturing capacity, supply chain diversification, and enhanced cooperation between Member States, alongside increased use of data and monitoring tools. The Act builds on existing initiatives under the EU pharmaceutical reform and EMA’s extended mandate, including through mechanisms such as joint procurement and strategic projects. Quinz Advises Management on MBO of Materialise's Eyewear Business   We are proud to have advised management on the MBO of the eyewear business of Materialise.   For over a decade, Materialise has been at the forefront of 3D-printed eyewear applications, having produced several hundred thousand frames for a wide range of eyewear brands and luxury names. Over the years, the business established itself as a key player in the sector, building strong partnerships with leading brands and delivering innovative customisation experiences to consumers.   The transaction is part of Materialise's strategy to sharpen its portfolio and concentrate capital and resources on its core focus areas. Following the management buy-out, the eyewear business will continue its activities as an independent company, allowing it to operate with greater focus and agility in its next phase of growth. Materialise will retain a minority stake in the newly incorporated company, reflecting its continued confidence in the business.   Congratulations to all parties involved!
