  • What do a rock from the bottom of the Baltic Sea, a Polish coin, and a Danish newspaper have in common? 🪨🪙📰 Each highlights a different chapter of the Baltica 2 story. The rock represents the material used to protect the seabed around the wind farm foundations. The coin symbolises the project’s Polish dimension. And the newspaper reflects Ørsted’s Danish roots.   Together, they were placed in a time capsule unveiled during an event in Gdańsk to mark the start of offshore foundation installation for #Baltica2. Today, that capsule has found its permanent home inside monopile no. E24, one of the foundations of Poland’s largest offshore wind farm currently under construction by Ørsted and PGE.   Designed to resemble a monopile, the capsule carries the signatures of representatives from public administration, project partners, and suppliers whose contributions continue to support the development of both Baltica 2 and Poland’s offshore wind industry. Among them are Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Minister of Climate and Environment, Miłosz Motyka, Minister of Energy, and Urszula Sara Zielinska, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Climate and Environment, as well as Ørsted and PGE CEOs, Rasmus Errboe and Dariusz Lubera.   Created by the Łukasiewicz – Instytut Elektrotechniki (Research Network – Institute of Electrical Engineering) using materials similar to those used in wind turbine blades, the capsule also highlights an important aspect of offshore wind: it’s not only about generating renewable energy. It’s about innovation, durability, responsible resource use, and managing the entire life cycle of a wind farm.   For the next 30 years, Baltica 2 play an important role in Poland’s energy transition. This small capsule symbolically captures that journey – from construction and operation to responsible life cycle management of one of the country’s most significant renewable energy projects.   #OffshoreWind #WindEnergy #Sustainability

  • 🌅 An offshore construction site with many faces. The Baltic Sea can change within just a few hours, where strong winds and high waves can be followed by calm water and stunning sunsets. Working at sea requires careful monitoring of weather conditions, precision, and compliance to safety standards.   • What if we could repair offshore wind turbine blades faster and safer? Turns out we can 🤩 This is made possible by Ørsted’s collaboration with Clobotics Wind Services, where we have set a new benchmark for repairing the leading edge of blades offshore during a recent campaign at Horns Rev 2 Offshore Wind Farm in Denmark. Why do these blades need maintenance? The leading edge of offshore blades is exposed to rain, salt spray from the waves, and general harsh marine conditions that can cause erosion. Traditionally, these repairs require colleagues to work suspended from ropes – a time-consuming, labour-intensive process that can take hours. With the Sparrow leading-edge repair robot, we can now repair blades in record time: only 27 minutes per blade, and up to 8 blades per day. This significantly lowers downtime and reduces costs by 50-75 %, as the robot is up to ten times faster than conventional methods ⏱️ Innovative technology like this goes beyond just speed. Shorter repair times improve predictability in offshore maintenance and help us create safer ways of working with fewer offshore crew transfers and no need for rope-access operations. It’s another example of how strong partnerships and innovation can help improve offshore wind operations 👏 #innovation #offshorewind

  • 🌊 All 197 safe foundations for Hornsea 3 now complete 🚧   All 197 concrete working platforms for our Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm have now been completed. Half of them have already made the journey to the UK’s Port of Tyne, from Świnoujście, Poland, where they were manufactured. These platforms are an integral part of an offshore wind farm’s foundations – designed to withstand the harsh weather conditions out at sea and keep workers safe.   Designed by Ørsted and built by AARSLEFF BIZ Sp. z o. o., each platform weighs a massive 133 tonnes. Through projects like Hornsea 3, we're helping strengthen offshore wind capabilities among manufacturers in Poland.   This milestone marks another step towards the completion of Hornsea 3 and Ørsted’s vision of a world that runs entirely on green energy. #OffshoreWind #WindEnergy

    As more offshore wind farms become exposed to market prices, long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) are playing an increasingly important role in supporting the continued growth of renewable energy.  That’s why we’re pleased to have signed a long-term PPA with the Gode Wind 1 partnership in Germany. For Ørsted, the deal is a significant milestone in our ambition to support renewable energy assets throughout their full life cycle. As the renewable energy sector continues to evolve, agreements like this will play a key role in enabling continued investment and helping accelerate the energy transition. Developed together with our partners, the agreement covers a period of seven years and will provide a strong foundation for the Gode Wind 1 project and its owners: Nuveen, a TIAA company, Equitix, and The Renewables Infrastructure Group Limited (TRIG). With this tailored solution, Ørsted – through Trading & Revenue – supports the long-term resilience of renewable energy projects, demonstrating how offshore wind assets can continue to deliver value and contribute to a more sustainable energy system beyond subsidy-supported frameworks.

    Closer cross-border cooperation is key to unlocking Europe’s offshore wind potential. That was one of the key takeaways from the North Sea Summit in Hamburg earlier this year ✅ A new study from Fraunhofer-Institut für Windenergiesysteme, ‘International Optimization of Full Load Hours in the German Bight’, reinforces this. As Europe scales offshore wind, how and where we build matters. Germany’s 70 GW capacity target brings maritime spatial challenges, where wake effects between wind farms could reduce both energy yield and full‑load hours. But there is a clearer, more efficient way forward: reallocating offshore wind capacity to Danish waters and feeding power into the German grid. Launched by the BDEW Bundesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft e.V. and BWO - Bundesverband Windenergie Offshore e.V., together with several developers and grid operators including Ørsted, the study highlights: ➡️ Shifting 10–20 GW from the German North Sea to Danish waters could reduce costs by 6–11 %. ➡️ Higher yields on Danish offshore sites and reduced wake losses could increase generation by 6–13 %. ➡️ Full load hours in the analysed area could increase from ~3,500 to ~4,000.   By planning more strategically across borders, we can deliver more electricity, more efficiently, and at lower cost ⚡ Let’s think more European 🤝 Go to the study: https://lnkd.in/eY8gq-aV
