Knjiga "Rimski zavjetni žrtvenici s područja Hrvatske" predstavlja sveobuhvatni korpus rimskih za... more Knjiga "Rimski zavjetni žrtvenici s područja Hrvatske" predstavlja sveobuhvatni korpus rimskih zavjetnih žrtvenika s područja Hrvatske. Istraživani uzorak sastoji se od 787 rimskih zavjetnih žrtvenika posvećenih božanstvima, od kojih 528 potječe s područja provincije Dalmacije, 187 s područja provincije Panonije te 72 s područja italske X. regije. Primjenom suvremene arheološke metodologije spomenici su detaljno analizirani u njihovom geografskom, formalnom (stilsko-ikonografskom), društvenom i kronološkom kontekstu.

U knjizi su prikazani rezultati istraživanja rimskih spomenika koji su kao spoliji iskorišteni u ... more U knjizi su prikazani rezultati istraživanja rimskih spomenika koji su kao spoliji iskorišteni u triljskom kraju, na širem prostoru sela Gardun i Vojnić te grada Trilja, odnosno na širem području nekadašnjeg rimskog legijskog logora Tilurija. Predmet istraživanja nisu samo izvorni rimski spomenici, nego i nova uloga koja im je namijenjena novom upotrebom te povijesne okolnosti u kojima je do toga došlo. U knjizi je time prikazana povijest odabranih rimskih spomenika triljskog kraja a na osnovi nje i povijest triljskog kraja od napuštanja rimskog legijskog logora Tilurija do danas.

The arrowhead is the most important part of the arrow because its shape can reveal its purpose. T... more The arrowhead is the most important part of the arrow because its shape can reveal its purpose. The authors of this paper will try to answer whether the particular arrowheads found during the archaeological research of the Roman legionary fortress Burnum and Tilurium were also used for wildlife hunting. Namely, the uncovered arrowheads suggest not only that their shape was designed to cut through as much body tissue as possible, but they may have also caused unusually painful wounds when attempting to remove them from the body. Consequently, such arrowheads could have been used successfully for hunting game. The authors were inspired to write this article not only by the shape of the discovered arrowheads but also by the remains of the wild animal bones found in Burnum and Tilurium as well as by epigraphic sources referring to soldiers as hunters.

This research paper explores the application of a unique field survey approach designed to deal w... more This research paper explores the application of a unique field survey approach designed to deal with site detection and interpretation in karst fields. The method has its limitations, and it is predominantly focused on detecting sites from antiquity because of the nature of the material remains left in the landscape from those times. Nevertheless, the approach provides a new layer of spatial information based on objectivity in contrast to the usual practices of archaeological reconnaissance. The general goals of the wider AdriaRom Project are described and the role of this particular case study in the wider survey within the scope of the project. Finally, the results of the field survey are presented and the efficiency and the drawbacks of the utilized methodology are discussed.

In the territory of present-day Croatia that is part of the former Roman region Regio X Venetia e... more In the territory of present-day Croatia that is part of the former Roman region Regio X Venetia et Histria and the Roman provinces of Dalmatia and Pannonia, more than 800 Roman votive altars have been found. Most of the altars dedicated to deities are simple and without decoration, with the exception of those decorated with elaborate relief displays. Among these, representations of cult objects– a shallow bowl and a ritual jug – are among the most common motifs on the altars. The aim of this paper is to analyse instrumenta sacra depicted on the votive altars found in the territory of Croatia.

U ovom je radu predstavljena skupina pokretnih arheoloških nalaza s natpisima s područja rimskog ... more U ovom je radu predstavljena skupina pokretnih arheoloških nalaza s natpisima s područja rimskog legijskog logora Tilurija (danas selo Gardun kod Trilja). Znanstvenom analizom obuhvaćena je tzv. instrumenta inscripta, odnosno keramički, stakleni, koštani i metalni nalazi koji na sebi sadrže natpis i/ili pečat. Riječ je o nalazima iz sustavnih arheoloških istraživanja, kao i o nalazima koji su danas pohranjeni u Muzeju triljskog kraja u Trilju, Muzeju Cetinske krajine u Sinju, Arheološkoj zbirci Franjevačkog samostana u Sinju, Arheološkom muzeju u Splitu ili su zabilježeni u starijoj literaturi. Većina nalaza pripada razdoblju prve polovice i sredine 1. st. po. Kr., dok se pojedini nalazi mogu datirati i na sam kraj 1. st. pr. Kr. Njihova se datacija time uvelike preklapa s datacijom Tilurija kao rimskoga legijskog logora i kasnije logora pomoćnih postrojbi. Mali broj nalaza može se datirati u razdoblje prije nego što je Tilurij početkom 1. st. po. Kr. postao logor VII. legije. Isto tako mali broj nalaza svjedoči i o nastavku života u Tiluriju nakon što je prestao biti rimsko vojno uporište nakon sredine 3. st.
