A 69-year-old man was admitted with chest pain lasting for four days. The electrocardiogram showed ST elevation in the inferior leads, with Q waves and inverted T waves. He was taken for urgent cardiac catheterization, which showed 3-vessel disease, with thrombotic occlusion of the right coronary artery. Angioplasty with a bare metal stent was performed.

An expansion and projection technique based on Legendre polynomials is used to solve, in an e cient and accurate way, the Chapman-Enskog equations for viscosity and heat transfer and to compute the Burnett functions required, for example, for Poiseuille-ow problems based on rigid-sphere collisions and the linearized Boltzmann equation.

A version of the discrete-ordinates method is used to solve in a unified manner some classical flow problems based on the Bhatnagar, Gross and Krook model in the theory of rarefiedgas dynamics. In particular, the thermal-creep problem and the viscous-slip (Kramers') problem are solved for the case of a semi-infinite medium, and the Poiseuille-flow problem, the Couetteflow problem and the thermal-creep problem are all solved for a wide range of the Knudsen number.

In this paper we aim to demonstrate, as a proof-of-concept, the feasibility of the mass production of effective point of care tests for nitrite quantification in environmental, food and clinical samples. Following our previous work on the development of third generation electrochemical biosensors based on the ammonia forming nitrite reductase (ccNiR), herein we reduced the size of the electrodes' system to a miniaturized format, solved the problem of oxygen interference and performed simple quantification assays in real samples. In particular, carbon paste screen printed electrodes (SPE) were coated with a ccNiR/carbon ink composite homogenized in organic solvents and cured at low temperatures. The bio-compatibility of these chemical and thermal treatments was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry showing that the catalytic performance was higher with the combination acetone and a 40 °C curing temperature. The successful incorporation of the protein in the carbon ink/solvent composite, while remaining catalytically competent, attests for ccNiR's robustness and suitability for application in screen printed based biosensors.

The Interactive Geometry systems are important tools to promote learning in Geometry, one of this is the free software iGeom. This paper describes a case study with students from a public school of São Paulo, under the fundamental level. It was a short course to introduce Geometry to students from age 10 to 11. During the case study, the students were very motivated with the system interactivity and with its automatic evaluation. However, it was also noted that the students initially had little formal knowledge of Geometry and the time period allocated to the course was not sufficient to students learn Geometry and technology.

The sub-genre of fiction known as the "novel of circulation" (or the "it-narrative" or "object narrative"), in which inanimate objects and animals come to life to tell tales of their adventures, gained increasing popularity throughout the eighteenth century. The currency trope was a rather common one: in Britain alone, there are 37 recorded titles up to 1900. Often, the lower the face value of the numismatic narrator, the shorter the story. The first so-called novel of this kind was Charles Gildon's The Golden Spy (1709). In this book, the unlikely narrators, a French Louis d'or, an English guinea, a Roman crown, and a Spanish pistole, constantly quarrel to defend the greatness of their respective nations. This article aims to examine the complex relationships of both companionship and rivalry between the coins, as well as how concerns and anxieties regarding the general state of affairs were very much similar throughout the courts of Europe.

This study aims to provide new insights into transcriptome and miRome modifications occurring in cardiac reverse remodelling (RR) upon left ventricle pressure-overload relief in mice. Pressure-overload was established in seven-week-old C57BL/6J-mice by ascending aortic constriction. A debanding (DEB) surgery was performed seven weeks later in half of the banding group (BA). Two weeks later, cardiac function was evaluated through hemodynamics and echocardiography, and the hearts were collected for histology and small/bulk-RNA-sequencing. Pressure-overload relief was confirmed by the normalization of left-ventricle-end-systolic-pressure. DEB animals were separated into two subgroups according to the extent of cardiac remodelling at seven weeks and RR: DEB1 showed an incomplete RR phenotype confirmed by diastolic dysfunction persistence (E/e’ ≥ 16 ms) and increased myocardial fibrosis. The thermomechanical processing of NiTi shape memory alloys usually involves several steps of hot and/or cold deformation. The present work presents the structural characterization of a Ni-rich NiTi alloy bar, produced by vacuum-induced melting and thermomechanical processing in laboratory scale, aiming at massive production in the future. This study focused on the first step of hot working at 800 °C during rotary forging. Microstructural characterization was performed using differential scanning calorimetry, high- and low-temperature X-ray diffraction (XRD) using a laboratory source and synchrotron XRD. Thus, it was possible to obtain the phase transformation characteristics of the material: the transformation temperatures and the transformation sequence. Proposed thermomechanical processing is intended for production of bars and wires that will be subsequently drawn to get thin wires, for different applications, including orthodontic arch wires.

The structural and thermophysical characteristics of an Ni-rich NiTi alloy rod produced on a laboratory scale was studied. The soak temperature of the solution heat-treatment steps above 850 °C taking advantage of the precipitate dissolution to provide a matrix homogenization, but it takes many hours (24 to 48) when used without thermomechanical steps. Therefore, the suitable reheating to apply between the forging process steps is very important, because the product’s structural characteristics are dependent on the thermomechanical processing history, and the time required to expose the material to high temperatures during the processing is reduced.
