The visit focused on apprenticeships in the Netherlands. During the visit, Pat McFadden had an engaging conversation with several members of our team, including our apprentice Loet van Berkel, his trainer Nick Mast, apprenticeship mentor Ramon Smit, site manager Bas Jong de and our apprenticeship programme manager Leonoor van Baarda. It was a great opportunity to show how combining work and learning at BAM helps people develop skills in practice and gives young talent a strong start in construction, infrastructure and engineering. What makes our approach unique is the strong mentoring behind it, with the apprenticeship mentor playing a key role in guiding both the apprentice and the on-the-job trainer.
