Most businesses don't think about their EFTPOS terminal. It sits on the counter. It takes payments. When it works, nobody notices. When it doesn't, everybody panics! For decades, payment terminals have largely been single-purpose devices replaced every few years to keep up with compliance. Victa changes that. The spec sheet is impressive. Built on Android 13. All-day battery life. PCI 7.x. Every payment method New Zealanders expect. But that's not what makes it interesting. Imagine seamless, cardless payments, confirming age without a physical ID, personalised loyalty experiences. These aren't science fiction concepts, they're the kinds of capabilities Victa is built to support. Picture a café recognising a regular customer and automatically applying their loyalty rewards. A bottle store verifying age in seconds. A pharmacy securely confirming identity before releasing a prescription. Victa provides the foundation for businesses to craft these customer experiences and more. We’re building the platform that helps businesses shape what's next

  • Testing out our new switch to issuer link with Westpac New Zealand was sweet in more ways than one! Our bake sale today brought us one step closer to launching our link with Westpac on the Verifone payment network. And we raised over $750 for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Appeal while we were at it! Thanks to our fantastic bakers (and snackers!) who showed up to help out🙂

Today we're one step closer to launching Switch to Issuer with Westpac New Zealand on the Verifone payment network here in New Zealand. As Abhijeet Singh, Payments Engineering Head from Westpac put it, "the first step in a significant milestone."   To mark the occasion (and put the link through its paces!) the team at Eftpos New Zealand hosted a bake sale, with every dollar going to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Appeal.   This is part of a bigger programme years in the making, and a real milestone for how debit and scheme transactions get processed here in New Zealand. Shaun Gair, Portfolio Head from Westpac summed it up nicely, "a significant milestone for both Verifone and Westpac, but also the NZ market!"   Our bake sale was just the warm-up! Shortly we'll head into pilot, where our joint merchants get to put the link through its paces for real. Even sweeter? We raised over $750 for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Appeal.   Proud of what the team has built, proud we could give back to the Chopper Appeal, and not mad about the leftover baking either 🍰.

  • Still on a terminal that went out of compliance on 30 April? That might be sign #1. Here are 5 more signs it's time to switch EFTPOS Providers: 1. Lack of Reliability & Stability 2. Poor Customer Support 3. Hidden Fees and Complicated Pricing 4. Unproven Technology 5. Lack of Scalability Read the blog. Link in comments.

  • If your EFTPOS goes down, your business doesn't have to. If you have the right provider, that is. We've worked hard to build resilience into our EFTPOS fleet. That's why the vast majority of calls into our 24/7 Technical Helpdesk get resolved on the first call. But for the small number of issues that need more than a phone conversation, we have a nationwide network of Field Service Representatives who can get to you when remote support isn't enough. If your terminal needs replacing, we can get one to you overnight or the same day. Day-to-day, our dedicated Customer Service team can help with billing and general enquiries. If you ever need a quick answer, you can reach us via Live Chat or browse our Help Centre for guides and troubleshooting resources. For larger businesses, we assign dedicated Relationship Managers, and we can work directly with your IT team when issues need a more coordinated response. We also keep your terminals running with software updates and security upgrades managed for you in the background. For extra peace of mind, there's offline mode, which allows temporary offline processing if you do lose connectivity. You can also add an optional backup SIM so your terminal has a fallback if your Wi-Fi goes down. Our Swap Box service gives you a spare terminal on hand for instant swap-outs, and Terminal Plus helps cover the cost of repair and replacement if a device gets damaged. If something goes wrong, you're not on your own.

  • The 30 April deadline for PCI 4.X EFTPOS terminals has passed. Payments NZ has confirmed that any remaining devices on this standard are now non-compliant and subject to disconnection from the network. Eftpos NZ subscription customers were migrated well ahead of this deadline and remain fully compliant. Merchants still running an affected device should act now, disconnection can happen at any time. There’s now one week to go until EFTPOS terminals using the PCI 4.x security standard must be replaced – with the sunset date for these devices falling on 30 April 2026. After this date, remaining terminals using the PCI 4.x standard will be non-compliant and subject to disconnection from the EFTPOS network.  Keeping Aotearoa New Zealand’s EFTPOS fleet up to date with recent security standards helps to keep the network safe and the risk of card fraud low, protecting businesses and consumers. We acknowledge industry and merchants for their efforts in supporting a smooth transition to more secure devices – with almost all terminals now already upgraded. Any merchants still using older terminals should reach out to their device providers now to ensure they can keep transacting smoothly after next week’s deadline.
