Wrapping up the 20th edition of Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) has been both rewarding and humbling. Projects of this scale are never just about timelines or deliverables - they’re about people. Behind every smooth execution is a team that supports one another and keeps the energy positive, even during the busiest days. It was also great reconnecting with past colleagues and partners along the way, a reminder of how valuable strong relationships are in this industry. As the appointed Event Manager, I’m especially grateful for the strong partnership we share with our client, MPA. Trust, open communication, and mutual respect make all the difference in turning challenges into success. To the SMW Experia team - thank you for your hard work, resilience, and heart throughout the journey. A happy and motivated team is the foundation of every successful project, and I’m proud to be part of one. Success happens when everyone feels valued, supported, and aligned toward one shared goal. Proud of what we’ve achieved together, and excited for what’s ahead. Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) 2026 And that’s a wrap! More than 20,000 guests through our doors. Hope everyone had a productive and enjoyable week. Despite global uncertainties, industry leaders made the time to be here. Very heartened by the commitment to dialogue and to building what’s next, together. It’s been a tiring but rewarding week. Lots of candid conversations, good ideas exchanged, and new partnerships formed. Hope the momentum continues. Thank you to all panellists for sharing your time and insights. Thank you to every exhibitor for bringing the halls to life with new tech and solutions. Thank you to all our partners for hosting the side events and conferences that make SMW more than what it is. Most importantly, thank you to the team in Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). Months of work went into this — curating content, sending invites, planning receptions, coordinating meetings, handling the thousand moving parts. Day two of Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) has treated me extremely well! I kicked off my morning by attending the TradeWinds shipowners forum, where speakers talked about the impact of geopolitics, emerging tech such as AI, decarbonisation plans and also changes to wider trade patterns. I then popped into the expo where I bumped into many familiar faces before I took to the stage at the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) booth to moderate a panel for WISTA Singapore about the future of AI in the next five years (thank you Amanda Hastings and Robyn Lumbers for setting this up). My speakers (Su Yin Anand, Matt Mowrer, Daisy Radford and Lina Soho™️ )and I had a really interesting conversation which even took a philosophical turn where we talked about the changing role of humans in an AI enabled future. We also talked about trust, cyber security, integrating the technology and where we assume there will be limitations in the future. We also discussed the movie terminator and our willingess to embrace a future with skynet! I will write a detailed summary for Intent Communications Ltd's Demystifying Digitalisation and AI in maritime newsletter - so do make sure you sign up (https://lnkd.in/eNeuvjiu) After that, I headed over to the CFARER - A DNV Company event, which showcased some really magnificent photos taken by seafarers which were auctioned off to benefit the individual seafarers and The Mission to Seafarers (with a 50-50 split of the proceeds). And then it was a dinner at a local hawker centre where I forgot to take any photos of the biggest bubble tea that I have ever consumed!! All in all, a glorious day - and I look forward to tomorrow where I will be moderating a panel titled Net Zero in Motion: Ports, People, and AI Steering Cleaner Supply Chains. This will be held at the Finnish Ambassador's residence, The Sail Marina Bay at 5pm and I will be speaking with Derwin Tang, ZOU Guangrong, Stefan Nysjö, Wei Siang New, and Hock Nguan Goh. Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) 2026 Day 3 was all about talent and grooming the next generation of maritime leaders. Minister of State for Transport Baey Yam Keng delivered the opening address at Youth@SMW. He highlighted the range of quality careers in maritime and how Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is working with industry on internships, scholarships, and talent development programmes. I joined the Circle of HR InnOvators (CHRO) forum as a panellist and met HR leaders from across the sector. In a more volatile world, it is critical to continue investing in our people. Skills, leadership, and resilience will decide who leads the next chapter. Maritime is often overlooked by youths. It shouldn’t be. This is one of the most global, dynamic, and consequential sectors we have. And it isn’t just about going to sea. The industry runs on a deep bench of shore-based roles — ship chartering, broking, legal, finance, data, tech, port operations. These are rewarding, international careers that shape trade flows and supply chains from right here on land. If we want a strong maritime future, we must invest in the next generation today. #SMW2026 #MaritimeSG #MaritimeCareers

SMW25 felt like just yesterday, and yet here we are wrapping up SMW26. Always good catching up with familiar faces and meeting new ones from the maritime community across the world. Big welcome to the new friends who came onboard the RelationSHIP this year. A big shoutout to the core team behind SMW26. Your teamwork and commitment made the entire experience not just productive, but genuinely enjoyable. Special mention to Alvin Chong for bringing me onboard a year ago and now with Lynn Pang joining the crew and running the Tech Village solo this year, I’d say it’s been a pretty solid one for the sales cabin 💪 And not forgetting, Darryl Koh and Ridzwan Zafir congrats on your first run! Now that the ship has sailed for 2026… time to switch gears and get back onboard the spaceship for 2027 🚀
