🌟In 2021, Peter was diagnosed with cancer and treated at Addenbrooke's. This year, his son Oscar decided he wanted to raise money to thank the hospital that treated his dad. With help from his school, Oscar reached out to local businesses for donations to his cake and coffee morning, and for prizes for his raffle, then topped it all off with a non-uniform day! Thanks to his incredible efforts, he's raised £1,000 for cancer services at Addenbrooke's, including the new Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital. 🎉 🙌If you'd like to give back to Addenbrooke's, consider fundraising! https://lnkd.in/e95ebN6e Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust #fundraising #cambridge #addenbrookes

Help us make Addenbrooke's Hospital even better for patients
About us
Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT) is the only registered charity dedicated to supporting innovation in patient care across Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals. The hospitals have earned the reputation of being among the world's best academic healthcare organisations, and ACT's aim is to support those achievements by raising funds for cutting edge technology, additional specialist staff, environmental enhancements and extra comforts for patients that make all the difference. We also provide seed funding for early stage research projects, supporting the hospitals' clinical academics keen to embark on a research career. This funding then often leverages more ambitious research funding opportunities, and as such can be an essential component in identifying global cures and advances in treatment. With the help of our supporters, ACT has been able to fund a broad range of projects and services across the hospitals, including raising funds to transform cancer and children’s services, further our research programme, facilitate innovative new projects and provide small comforts that can mean so much to patients every day. This is the life-changing project our incredible supporters are helping to build. 🙌 Cambridge Children's Hospital will transform care for young people in the East of England, treating mental and physical health as one, and providing a comfortable and supportive environment for their families. 👉 Learn more about supporting this incredible new hospital at https://lnkd.in/epg8euM7
Welcome to the Cambridge Children's Hospital project! Cambridge Children's Hospital will be the first specialist children's hospital for the East of England. It will be unique in fully integrating mental and physical healthcare under one roof, alongside world-leading research focused solely on improving outcomes for children and young people. Our holistic approach will treat mind and body as one, supporting not just the child who is unwell but their whole family. Our region's new hospital is being built with a triumvirate partnership: Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), and the University of Cambridge. However, there are many other experts involved, including children, young people, parents and carers; NHS staff from our partner organisations and across the East of England; and our colleagues at Pilgrim Pathways School. The hospital's visionary approach to care and research is being supported by a transformational £100 million fundraising campaign, which has already surpassed the halfway mark. We will aim to treat children within their own communities wherever possible, keeping them close to the places and people they love. When they come into Cambridge Children's Hospital, they will have state-of-the-art facilities, as well as a hospital school, multiple outdoor spaces, en suite bedrooms with lots of natural light, and theatres, diagnostics and imaging facilities exclusively for our young patients. In Summer 2024, our Outline Business Case was approved by Government. The following year, we appointed our construction partner BOUYGUES UK. With our design now finalised and our Full Business Case being prepared for submission, we are starting the countdown to construction in 2027. We are delighted to bring you on board for this exciting journey towards making Cambridge Children's Hospital a reality for children and families in the East of England. ☀️ 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗵𝗮𝗺 Balloon games. Space hoppers. Welly wanging. Tug of war. A very competitive round of "sponge the boss." Our Fordham team traded lab coats for garden games recently, celebrating Resolian's annual Summer Fun Day - complete with a painting competition, tombola, and (of course) plenty of ice cream. We're also delighted to share that the day raised £1,004.75 for Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT) - which Resolian will match, bringing the total to £2,009.50. A huge thank you to Newmarket Racecourse and Christopher Burton, who generously donated a VIP Race Day Experience for our tombola prizes. It's a small thing, but it matters: taking time to slow down, have fun, and connect as a team outside the day-to-day. Great science comes from people who feel supported, valued, and part of something beyond the bench. Thank you to everyone who organized, donated, and took part - and to those brave enough to volunteer for the sponge station. 🧽 #LifeAtResolian #TeamCulture #Fordham #EmployeeExperience #Resolian #CharityFundraising

Research means understanding the underlying causes of devastating illnesses. 🔬 This is why we are proud to say your support continues to go towards early-stage research into cancer. One of the projects you've helped fund is looking to understand a specific gene's connection to acute myeloid leukaemia, or AML. The gene HOXA9, which plays a key role in creating cancerous blood cells, cannot be targeted directly due to lack of knowledge about how it works, so this research is looking for other ways to target this critical gene to treat AML. This fast-growing blood cancer that starts in the bone marrow has shattered millions of lives, and improved knowledge of how it works will help develop future treatments that could save lives across the world. Without you, this would not be possible. 🙏 👉 Learn more about the research you support and help us keep doing more at https://lnkd.in/ecKGQUzP Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust #cancer #aml #medicalresearch #addenbrookes

"There is now a very big hole in our world now that he has gone but he will be in our hearts for as long as we are here to remember him." 💔 "We can not thank them enough for what they did for us and Jake in his final hours they truly are amazing in what they do. We have chosen Addenbrooke's as our charity because this is where Jake was taken and for nearly 48 hours was cared for by the most wonderful NHS staff." 💙 After losing their beloved son and brother, Jake, after a car accident, father and son duo Sean and James channelled their grief into running the incredible 50k Peak District Ultra Challenge in his memory. This massive route covers a scenic trail through the Peak District National Park and, between them, they've raised an incredible £1,765 for our hospital.💪 🙏Thank you, Sean and James, for the incredible gift you've given future patients at our hospitals. 👉If you're interested in fundraising for us, please see our website: https://lnkd.in/e95ebN6e Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust #fundraising #peakdistrict #ultrachallenge #running #addenbrookes
