The Freddo Index: what a 10p chocolate bar tells you about UK inflation. In the 90s, a Freddo cost 10p. 15p by 2005. 20p by 2010. 25p by 2017. Now you're paying 35-40p for the same bar. Alex Pugh's latest Weekend Read digs into why - and what it actually means for your money. https://lnkd.in/exE4UAyd
To any Brit under the age of 40, the Freddo is the yardstick for inflation. Across much of the 90s, a Freddo cost 10p. It rose to 15p in 2005, then 20p in 2010, and 25p by 2017. Today, a Freddo sets you back 35p to 40p in most supermarkets. In his latest Weekend Read, Alex Pugh explains why Freddos are getting more expensive, and what this means for your money. Love seeing this come out of the team - trading and psychology, both sharpened by the other. That's the kind of thinking we build with here. Curious where else that mindset could take you? We're hiring 👉 ig.com/careers
One of the biggest reasons I was so excited to join IG Group a little over 2 years is that I'm an active investor and trader, and it was exciting to work on a product that made that experience better for our users Recently I got the chance to combine my passions of Psychology and Trading by helping co-host a podcast Markets and Mindsets with Paul and Emma! Special thanks to Leila and the whole studio crew, as well as all our guests! The first two episodes are out now! Full links in the comments 👇

This week, IG UK's podcast 'The Art of Investing' celebrated its first birthday - and what a corker of an episode to mark it: index concentration, why an 80-point FTSE 100 drop can come down to a single stock, and what a tracker fund is actually exposing you to. Rich McDonald, Mark Holden and Chris Fellingham break down the real difference between a tracker and an equal-weighted index - and why that distinction matters more than most investors realise. Plus: the portfolio's first-year numbers, and the debate on whether current earnings expectations point to a bubble forming under the AI rally. 🎧 Listen: https://upl.inc/taovapple 👉 Watch: https://lnkd.in/eifi3G3g
🎧 New Episode Alert! One year in. Are we invested in the stock market, or a market of stocks? 👉 Listen now: https://upl.inc/taovapple 👉 Watch now: https://lnkd.in/eifi3G3g Happy birthday to The Art of Investing. One year of the portfolio, and the team are marking it with a tough week, a big question about index concentration, and a masterclass in what you're actually buying when you buy a tracker fund. This week, Rich McDonald, Mark Holden and Chris Fellingham dig into why the composition of your portfolio matters far more than most investors realise, with the FTSE 100 falling 80 points in a single day because of one stock, and AstraZeneca down 10% on a failed drug trial. 📊 Portfolio Snapshot, Week 47 Weekly performance: –2.2% Total return since inception: +21.5% 2026 YTD return: +9.0% 🥇 Cash: +0.1% 🥈 iShares Core FTSE 100 ETF: flat 🥉 iShares UK Gilts 0–5yr ETF: –0.3% No portfolio changes this week. Japan, mining and emerging markets gave back gains as oil volatility returned and geopolitical tensions flared again. The big debate this week: with earnings expectations running at levels that would statistically occur once every 43,000 years, is there an earnings bubble forming beneath the surface of the AI rally? If you want to understand the real difference between an S&P 500 tracker and an equal-weighted index, why index concentration is still a hidden risk, and what the team are watching next in Japan, this episode is well worth a listen. #TheArtOfInvesting #Investing #Markets #AI #IndexFunds #ETFs #PortfolioManagement #SP500 #Japan #InvestingPodcast #PassiveInvesting #FTSE100

Scale, AI, and private credit are rewriting who wins in hedge funds. IG Prime's second annual State of the Hedge Fund Industry report breaks down three shifts: → The gap between the largest managers and everyone else is widening → AI adoption is near-universal - but conviction in its alpha-generating power hasn't caught up → Private credit allocation is broadening across the manager base This is the kind of work that shapes how our clients compete. Built on our institutional surveys of managers and end clients, it's research that puts IG Prime at the centre of where the industry is actually heading. Read the full report here https://bit.ly/4aG9kDx Curious what it takes to build research like this? We're defining the future of fintech - and that means backing the people who turn data into direction for the world's biggest managers. If you want real exposure to problems at this scale, we're hiring: ig.com/careers
A record year for the hedge fund industry. The more interesting story is who's capturing the gains. Our second annual report finds three shifts rewriting who wins: → a growing preference for scale as the gap between the largest managers and the rest widens → AI adoption becoming near-universal, while conviction in its ability to generate alpha lags behind → a broadening of private credit allocation across the manager base Built on our institutional surveys of managers and end clients, the report shows which trends are pulling ahead and what's still to play out. We're building the future of fintech, and it takes people who see 'that's how it's always been done' as a challenge, not an answer. Andrei put it simply: IG is a place that challenges the status quo, backs real ownership, and builds with AI-first practices – customer and business value at the heart of every decision. Sound like your kind of place? Bring the curiosity, the drive to challenge what's already there, and the ambition to build fast. We'll bring real problems worth solving at FTSE 100 scale. Build what's next: ig.com/careers #BuiltAtIG

We're hiring for our Tech teams in London. You'll bring the drive to own hard problems end-to-end, the curiosity to keep questioning how things are built, and the resilience to work through ambiguity instead of waiting for it to clear. What you get back is real autonomy over the systems you touch, managers who act as thought partners rather than gatekeepers, and colleagues sharp enough to make you better just by being in the room. There's no mapped-out career ladder here. Progression is picking up the next hard problem before anyone hands it to you – and that builds skills most FTSE 100s can't offer. Excellence isn't optional, and neither is the calibre of the people you'll build alongside. Check out our open roles here ig.com/careers #EngineeringJobs #LondonTech #Fintech #TheFutureGetsBuiltHere

IG Prime was named Best Prime Broker – Overall at the Hedgeweek® European Awards 2026 last month. It's the top honour in the category, and it lands off the back of a strong quarter: growth across the business, our first white label partner live, and deeper engagement from institutional clients. Recognition like this comes from the standard our clients and partners hold us to, and the teams who deliver against it every day. The future gets built here. If you want to be part of what's next, see our open roles: ig.com/careers
We're pleased to share that IG Prime has been named Best Prime Broker – Overall at the Hedgeweek European Awards 2026, the top honour in the category and one we're proud to bring home. This recognition reflects what our team has been building toward, and caps a quarter that told the same story: growth across the business, our first white label partner live, and deeper engagement from institutional clients. Thank you to Hedgeweek, our clients and partners who hold us to the standard that defines the business, and to the teams behind the result. A clear marker of the trajectory we're setting.

Throughout June, IG Australia showed what 'building together' actually looks like. Melbourne swapped desks for a shared table - everyone bringing a dish that means something to them. Different backgrounds, different childhood favourites, one team. Sydney turned team building into an actual build; Lego, a wine down, and a dinner to close it out. And yes, Melbourne also proved that golf skills are optional at Holey Moley. This is what building the future looks like - teams who know each other, learn from each other, and show up for each other. Want to build something with us? See our open roles: ig.com/careers
June at IG Australia 🗓️ Here's a look at what we got up to behind the scenes. 🌍 The Melbourne office went Around The World - we came together over a shared table of dishes from home, childhood favourites and cuisines we love. Great food and a celebration of the diversity that makes IG, IG. ⛳ We also swapped desks for putters at Holey Moley after our townhall - zero golf skills required, bit of friendly competition and plenty of laughs. 🧱 Meanwhile in Sydney, the team got building (pun intended) - a wine down, a Lego speed-build and a team dinner to round things off. Here's to July 👊 #IGGroup #IGAustralia

What does it cost to hide who you are at work? That was the question Leanne Spencer put to colleagues at IG this Pride Month. Drawing on her own story of burnout, Leanne made the case plainly: authenticity, belonging and connection aren't soft extras. They are the precursors to energy, mood and motivation, the things we all rely on to do our best work, and when we hide the first three, the rest start to go. Rather than leave it as theory, she shared practical ways for leaders and teams to build psychological safety, show real allyship, and look for common ground while respecting difference. Thank you to our exec sponsor, Andrew Biggs, who opened by sharing a personal story of supporting a friend through their transition at work, and how his team grew closer and stronger as a result. And to those who joined and shared so openly, thank you. #LifeatIG
