Currently, this approach is not only the most effective way to practice the discipline, but in many cases, it is becoming the only viable alternative. Implementing this entrepreneurial approach demands a critical review of the traditional discourse in design, which has established rigid standards of complexity and quality that have limited the scope of professional action and restricted intervention options. This article focuses on analyzing current dynamics and trends in people's lifestyles, identifying how these transformations require a change in industrial design training and practices. In particular, it explores specific strategies and content that are essential for effective entrepreneurial training in design. One of the key areas the article addresses is the development of new and small industries. In a constantly evolving economic environment, small businesses and startups play a crucial role in innovation and adapting to emerging market needs. Industrial design, by integrating entrepreneurial skills, can foster the creation of new industries, providing creative and sustainable solutions that respond to evolving consumer demands. The article suggests that, to encourage the growth of these new, smaller industries, it is vital for designers to adopt a more flexible and entrepreneurial mindset. This includes the ability to identify market opportunities, develop viable business models, and apply design principles that are not only innovative but also adaptable and scalable. Entrepreneurial training should therefore integrate skills such as trend analysis, managing limited resources, and the ability to iterate rapidly in response to changing environments. In short, the article advocates for a restructuring of industrial design education and practice to include an entrepreneurial approach that facilitates the creation and development of new industries. This shift will not only allow designers to expand their influence and impact on the market but will also contribute to economic growth and job creation through innovation and entrepreneurship in design.

We understand research practice not only as a set of actions oriented toward the production of knowledge, but also as a complex endeavor shaped by social, historical, cultural, political, institutional, and epistemological conditions. From this perspective, we problematize the modes of validation and legitimation of project-based knowledge, addressing the tensions between the frameworks of modern science and the specificities of design practice. Our aim is not to establish normative prescriptions about how research in design should be conducted, but to open a space for reflection that situates the debate historically, institutionally, and socially, and examines its ontological, epistemological, and methodological dimensions. Finally, we propose broadening the discussion to contemporary approaches —such as creativity as method, decolonial perspectives, and the ecology of knowledge— to recognize the plurality of ways of conducting design research.

This self-organized mode of professional practice, increasingly prevalent in contemporary life, is shaped by a dominant ideological infrastructure rooted in global centers, which promotes so-called "success stories" based on economic performance. Such narratives often marginalize alternative practices and influence designers' professional expectations, limiting the imagination of divergent or locally rooted trajectories. This article, derived from doctoral research, explores alternative ways of understanding entrepreneurship in design by analyzing the discursive cultures adopted by industrial designers and how they reinterpret entrepreneurial activity in specific territorial contexts. The study is grounded in a multiple case analysis of eight entrepreneurial initiatives developed between 2009 and 2019 by graduates of the Faculty of Arts at the National University of La Plata, within the Buenos Aires Entrepreneurial Ecosystem (EEB). Methodologically, the research adopts

In an increasingly competitive and digitalized retail market, physical spaces become strategic stages where brand storytelling and atmospheric design contribute to differentiation and customer loyalty. To achieve this, tools such as the brand brief, which guides project decisions in alignment with corporate values; the customer journey map, which identifies user paths and touchpoints; and spatial storytelling, which conveys symbolic narratives through spatial organization, circulation, and sensory stimuli, are highlighted. The study focuses on three specialty coffee shops in La Plata: Fondacafé, which stands out for its strong visual and chromatic impact; Calma, which emphasizes warmth, cultural interaction, and a sense of pause; and LaSelva, which prioritizes integration with nature and wellbeing. The analysis shows how each proposal translates brand identity into distinct experiences, demonstrating that design without storytelling risks producing empty aesthetics, while identity-driven narratives generate authenticity and lasting value. Finally, the article underscores the potential of this approach beyond commercial contexts—such as educational, institutional, or community environments—where design can act as a sensitive interface that communicates values, fosters belonging, and strengthens connections between people and their surroundings.

Five years later, this paper revisits and expands that framework amid three major transformations: the rise of foundation models and generative AI, the emergence of agentic artificial intelligence capable of orchestration, and the institutionalization of governance through the European AI Act and ISO/IEC 42001. Revisiting Netflix, Airbnb, Tesla, and Microsoft, the study proposes the Agentic Orchestrator Model, integrating four interdependent layers-governance, human sensemaking, agentic orchestration, and operational loops. This model repositions design as a continuous sociotechnical architecture where humans, agents, and norms co-produce value and responsibility, extending Verganti's insights into the era of generative and regulated AI.

Argentina, located at the center of the "lithium triangle," faces the opportunity to become a leading player in one of the most significant industrial transformations of the coming decades. Electromobility is no longer a distant phenomenon but a palpable reality. In 2024, more than 17.8 million electric vehicles were sold worldwide, and projections from the International Energy Agency indicate that this figure could double by 2030. Countries such as China, the United States, and those in the European Union have already set concrete deadlines for abandoning internal combustion engines. In Argentina, the Sustainable Mobility Law establishes that new gasoline- or diesel-powered cars cannot be sold starting in 2041. The clock has already started ticking, and the decisions we make in the coming years will determine whether the country passively accompanies the transition or achieves a regional leadership position. China's role in this process is central. Companies like BYD, NIO, and SAIC have consolidated their global leadership thanks to their technological proficiency in batteries, their integration into supply chains, and their economies of scale. Since 2023, BYD has surpassed Tesla in global electric vehicle sales. For these companies, South America represents a natural expansion destination, and Argentina appears to be a market with potential due to its automotive tradition, its relative size, and, above all, its privileged access to lithium, a key input for batteries.

Inspired by the curves of Detroit automobiles, the proposal introduced a molded fiberglass shell that integrated seat and backrest into a single piece. With original colors such as parchment, elephant gray, or seafoam green, the “Shell Chair” gave rise to several models with different bases: wire (DSR), wood (DSW), tubular steel (DSX), and stackable (DSS). Among them, the DSW—with conical wooden legs and metal reinforcements—gained special recognition for its warm combination of materials. Charles Eames maintained that “details are not details; they make the product,” and this design confirms it by integrating functionality and aesthetics. Although initial production was interrupted due to environmental concerns over fiberglass, Herman Miller relaunched the series in 2004 using recyclable polypropylene, with a matte texture and strong durability. Beyond debates about its comfort, the DSW consolidated itself as an icon due to its versatility in homes, restaurants, and offices. Today, it remains an essential piece of modern furniture, continuously reinterpreted and reproduced worldwide.

The rigidity of its fixed distribution percentages has consolidated a pattern of territorial inequities that undermines democratic legitimacy and social cohesion. The most emblematic case is the province of Buenos Aires, which accounts for 40% of the national population and a significant share of economic activity, yet receives only 22% of federal transfers. This distortion has forced higher local taxation and heightened tensions between beneficiary and disadvantaged provinces. In contrast, the European Union’s experience with territorial cohesion provides valuable insights for rethinking Argentine federalism. Instruments such as the European Social Fund demonstrate how redistribution can be based on dynamic, verifiable criteria and supported by multilevel governance. The article therefore proposes a renewed framework built on three pillars: periodically revised revenue-sharing, a federal convergence fund targeting critical areas, and an innovation fund to support productive and environmental transitions. Rather than a model to be mechanically replicated, the European approach offers a guiding principle: a dynamic, transparent, and negotiated federalism, capable of addressing current challenges of equity, legitimacy, and sustainable development.

Methodology/approach: This study positions itself in this gap by comparatively analyzing 6 types of cultural practices: unraveling, windrowing, application of correctives, herbicides, insecticides and fertilizers, with the option of two systems Fixed rate (TF) and Variable rate (TV). Originality/Relevance: Brazil is a world reference in sugarcane production, with the State of São Paulo being the largest Brazilian producer. However, for sugarcane suppliers to maintain this activity there is a need to reduce production costs and increase profitability/ha. However, there is a theoretical-practical gap in the financial assessment (costs and profits) of different cultural practices inherent to sugarcane production. Main results: The results demonstrated that the costs of cultural practices represent more than 30% of the total sugarcane production costs. The TF system proved to be more cost-efficient in the following operations: correctives, herbicides and insecticides. In the application of fertilizers, the TV system, in broadcast mode, had the best result. Finally, the profit/ton was R$1.70, demonstrating a very low profit margin/ha given the risk of the activity. Theoretical/methodological contributions: The sample for this research comprised 55 sugarcane suppliers from the State of São Paulo, whose data were obtained through a survey. The comparative analysis was based on the difference in costs of cultural practices and the estimation of the level of certainty (profit/costs), analyzed through the cumulative frequency carried out through the Monte Carlo Simulation (SMC).

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the cost of six systems of agronomic practices using fixed or variable rates for soil amendment, fertilizer, and defensive applications and assess the profitability of these systems at three scales of sugarcane production. We then describe the data sample related to the 2019-2020 harvest season and collected from fifty-five sugarcane producers in the central-south region of Brazil. Thereafter, using a quantitative approach, a cost analysis was performed, and the cumulative frequency of the net revenue for the three scales of production (small, medium, and large), was calculated using a Monte Carlo simulation. The cost analysis indicated that fertilizer had the highest cost considering the agronomic practices adopted at the three scales of production analyzed. The cumulative frequency analysis results from the Monte Carlo simulation showed the highest net revenue per hectare for medium sugarcane producers. In addition, the presence of economies of scale was not confirmed because the lowest cost was found in small-scale sugarcane producers and the highest net revenue was obtained by medium-scale sugarcane producers.
