Recent update leads to random on/off of dark mode

    Howdy, great plugin!

    Recently we have received reports from readers they are having issues with dark mode not holding it’s state, either on or off. As users work through our site it will randomly go from on, to off, to on in between each page.

    Perhaps an issue either with a cookie or other reader preference retention. Looks like there may be some similar reports already in the forums.

    Testing v5.0.4, the issue still exists. I’m back again to v4.2.9.

    Version 5.0.6 installed, WP and browser cache cleared. Still not working reliably, the issue persists.

    Could you enable this section and give it another try?

    Navigate to WP Dark Mode > Settings > Advanced > Performance > Exclude WP Dark Mode from Caching – Screenshot

    I have tested this setting.

    If dark mode is used:
    When clicking on subpages, the new page flashes briefly in light mode and then switches to dark mode.
    Unfortunately unusable.

    If you are facing server-side cache issues, this feature will help prevent it. However, it might cause a slight delay in applying dark mode. We have also included a notice about this in our plugin – see the screenshot
