Happy #TransformativeTuesday! This week, I have an idea to share: pre-tax Smart Energy Savings Accounts. We trust people to save pre-tax $ for retirement they won't touch for decades. We trust them to save pre-tax $ for medical bills they haven't had yet. Why not save for their smart energy as well? Here's my pitch: build a pre-tax account just like we did for retirement and medical. This money would allow you to control your own, low carbon future. You could opt in or not. The choice is yours. Imagine an employee putting away $150/month. A few years later, she's using it towards #solarpanels, a #heatpump, or buying an #EV or #eBike. Now multiply that across an entire workforce or an entire country, creating a pool of private capital flowing into smart energy every single pay period.   Would you put money into a Smart Energy Savings Account if your employer offered one? Tell me why or why not. The Great Lakes region is at an inflection point, and we're ready to respond. Fresh Coast Climate Solutions and Cascade Energy have launched bridged, the country's first consortium bringing together the data center industry, utilities, public leaders, nonprofits, community organizations, and academics to foster responsible decision making and advance collective benefits.   Not a lobby. Not a conference. A collaborative expert network turning one of the most complex infrastructure challenges of our time into shared understanding, smarter decisions, and real community wins. Why does this matter right now? - Data centers could consume up to 12% of U.S. electricity by 2030 - Local moratoria on data centers jumped 875% in the past year alone - Fewer than half of industry developers and investors have sustainability plans in place The pressure is building. The stakes are real. And the Great Lakes region has an opportunity to lead if all stakeholder voices are at the table. That's exactly what bridged is designed to do.   We're building our founding cohort now: industry, foundations, and mission-aligned investors who want to help shape this initiative from the ground up. Happy #WorldWaterDay with this years theme of Water and Gender, “Where water flows, equility grows.” I grew up beside Lake Michigan, one of the most extraordinary freshwater systems on the planet. I didn’t plan a career in water, but I’m here now. The Great Lakes Region contain 20% of the world’s surface freshwater. Most of the companies operating here still don’t have a water strategy. The region is rich in water, but we have work to do developing corporate water stewardship, policies and actions. Through the Council of the Great Lakes Region, #GreatLakesWISE program, we are doing the work. We’ve analyzed gaps in corporate water stewardship in the Great Lakes Region and are developing a Toolkit to provide practical guidance to provide information and develop stewardship programs. Follow #GreatLakesWISE for the soon to be published stewardship resources. Today I’m celebrating water. Proud to be working in the water space and committed to making sure more woman follow.
