The new Tool for Agricultural Risk Assessment (TARA) helps expand access to credit and insurance in Kenya. The AI-based platform aids financial institutions in better assessing risk and serving smallholder farmers. It was a pleasure to represent IFPRI at Let's Fix Our Food (LFOF). We are proud to be a partner of this important platform, which brings together researchers, policymakers, and development partners to develop evidence-informed recommendations for strengthening the next generation of essential nutrition actions. I had the opportunity to present our latest research on India's evolving food environment, highlighting how affordability, accessibility, availability, and desirability shape diets, as well as the growing influence of digital food retail and online food delivery on food choices and food expenditure. These findings reinforce the need for nutrition policies that evolve alongside changing food systems. Thank you to the LFOF team and all participants for the engaging discussions. Looking forward to continuing to work together to improve diets and nutrition outcomes.

Haley Zaremba's article on OilPrice.com examines how the ongoing closure of the #StraitofHormuz, combined with renewed disruptions to Black Sea grain exports, is driving up global #foodprices and increasing #foodsecurity risks. The article cites earlier analysis by IFPRI's Rob Vos, referring to the "unfolding situation in fertilizer supply chains as an “input crisis” that could soon develop into a full-blown food crisis, especially in poor countries.” “Most production facilities in the region continue to operate at reduced rates to prevent excessive stockpiling,” IFPRI reports. “While urea can generally be stored for several months, high temperatures and moisture can damage its quality.
