We removed the most important column in our database. Everything got 7x faster. Plotline processes billions of events every day across several consumer apps in the US, Southeast Asia, and India. All of it lands in ClickHouse and needs to be queryable in real time - segments, cohorts, funnels, analytics. For years, every event's properties lived in a single JSON column. One blob per row. It was 80% of our entire table - and every query had to parse it from scratch, tens of millions of times, on every single request. ClickHouse's indexing, compression, data-skipping - all blind to it. Ishan from our team went deep on this. Tried five different approaches, rigorously benchmarked each one, and landed on a design we call "positional columns" - 100 real columns that ClickHouse can actually see, index, and compress, while preserving the schemaless contract our SDK depends on. The results on our benchmark set: → Data read off disk: 940 MB → 140 MB (7x less) → CPU time: 2.5s → 0.5s (5x less) → Storage: cut in half Ishan wrote up the full technical journey - every approach we tried, why compressing JSON harder wasn't the answer, and how positional columns work in production. https://lnkd.in/gJap7zxe If you're running ClickHouse with JSON or Map columns at scale, this will save you real pain. And if you've taken a different approach to schemaless event data in column stores, we'd love to hear about it.

We've helped 20+ fintech apps run campaigns to 240M+ monthly impressions. The ones that retain users don't communicate more. They communicate at the right moment. Here's what that looks like across the 3 stages: 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟰 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 — Activation KYC drop-offs kill fintech onboarding. Most flows see 40–68% abandonment. → A progress bar drove 80–100% higher KYC completion → Showing value before asking for setup: 45% of walkthrough viewers made their first trade (CoinDCX) 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝟮–𝟳 — Habit formation Average D7 retention in fintech: 17.6%. Most users are already gone. → In-app nudges drive 3.5x higher retention vs. PN → A spin-the-wheel in a neobank: 49–91% interaction rate 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝟳–𝟯𝟬 — Feature discovery 80% of features go unused. Not because users don't want them, because they never find them. → A margin trading offer shown after users had seen value: 91.6% CTR → One trading platform runs 50+ simultaneous widgets: 19% conversion on investment products Context beats volume. Timing beats frequency. And relevance beats reach. Which of these three stages does your team struggle with most? #fintech #appgrowth #userengagement

Before a user journey goes live, most of us could use one more look. But that review rarely happens at 6 pm before a launch, and the publish button doesn't wait. We just shipped Review with AI on Plotline: a quality gate built directly into the publish flow, so it actually gets used. Hit "Review & Publish" and before anything goes live, you get a full AI-powered review of your campaign. It checks across four areas: 1/ Content: typos, blank fields, placeholder text, vague CTAs, compliance risks, contradictory messaging across multi-step flows, broken personalization tokens 2/ Audience: estimates eligible users, flags if your targeting is too broad or reaches no one 3/ Scheduling: catches end-before-start errors, wrong rollout percentages 4/ Goals: warns if conversion goals aren't set or rollout is at 0% If you're running campaigns at scale, give it a try and tell us what you think! #martech #userengagement #appgrowth

60k+ users submitted a lead within 2 hours of spinning a wheel. A financial marketplace app was sitting on a high-intent moment and not using it - the second a user generated their Credit Health Report. They added a Spin the Wheel right there. The rewards were on loans, cards, investment products - things the user was already on the app to explore. 2 in 3 users spun. 2 in 3 who spun, clicked. The same moment with a static coupon would have felt like an ad. The spin felt like the natural next step; "You just checked your financial health, here's what you can do with it" The timing made it relevant. The construct made it feel earned. Together they made it convert. Took 30 minutes to configure on Plotline. Without code, or app release. #userengagement #appgrowth #gamification

We recently onboarded the fastest-growing on-demand home services app in India. Their growth team wanted to improve push opt-ins for users who had skipped permissions during onboarding. The team used Plotline to quickly test 3 variants of their permission prompt — each leading with specific benefits like upcoming booking alerts, live expert tracking, and cashback rewards. And triggered them at a moment when users had already seen value in the app. The results? All 3 variants beat the group that never saw the campaign by 110%+. Users respond strongly to the right value prop at the right moment, and with the ability to experiment quickly, communicating at that moment becomes a lot easier. #appgrowth #retention #userengagement

Plotline now has a centralized place to manage every image, GIF, video, and Lottie file you use across your campaigns. Everyone on the team works from the same creative set, so off-brand assets no longer slip through. And every asset gets a CDN-hosted URL automatically - no separate hosting needed. Running campaigns across segments? Upload variants, use Liquid tags, serve the right one to each user. → Live now. Find it in the left sidebar.

Plotline now lets you run one campaign across every language. Managing campaigns in multiple languages is messier than it should be. Duplicate flows, out-of-sync copy, changes you have to make twice. So we built Multi-lingual Journeys. Write your content once. Add your languages. Plotline auto-translates and serves each user in their language automatically. Edit one locale without touching the rest. Design changes made on the default version carry across all languages. And when you want to know what's working, filter your analytics by locale. Impressions, clicks, responses, all broken down by language. One journey. Every language. → Live now across campaigns, multi-step flows, widgets, and journey nodes.

We've powered 200+ quiz campaigns across 2M+ end users at Plotline this quarter. EdTech apps are using quizzes as a subject-specific retention tool — running campaigns mapped to JEE, NEET, etc., in regional languages including Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, and more. One client ran 44 of them last month alone. The quiz isn't a campaign here - it's part of how the product keeps students coming back. Quick commerce apps are running brand-sponsored quizzes; where the brand funds the campaign and the platform gets an engaged user interaction out of it. It's a monetization model sitting inside what looks like a content format. Fintech apps are using them for product education, onboarding, and feature discovery. Lower completion rates, but a different job to be done. One pattern holds across all of them: shorter quizzes are significantly outperforming longer ones. 3-question quizzes hit more than 60% completion. A 7 to 10-question quiz sits at less than 3%.
