  • If Dale Bowen is the heart of PTI, Jessie is our collective brain. She is the behind-the-scenes wizard who makes sure that we're all operating on the same page...which isn't even really her job, she just does it because she's awesome. If you're involved with PTI in any way, you've probably encountered Jessie in some way - from CGCIO classes, to the membership newsletter and community hub - she is integral to pretty much every part of PTI. Because she's such a great part of our team, if you're so inclined you should give her a much-deserved shout out in the comments 👇

Every great organization is built by people who care deeply about the work they do. As we continue celebrating Fusion's 50th anniversary, we're introducing you to the individuals whose passion and dedication help make our mission possible. Today we're featuring Jessie Sowers, Member Services & Education Coordinator for the Public Technology Institute (PTI). 1️⃣ If you had to describe Fusion in three words, what would they be? "Mission-Driven, Collaborative, Community-focused" 2️⃣ When you think about your experience with Fusion, what moment stands out the most and why? "One of my favorite memories with Fusion so far was attending my first GOVIT Leadership Summit & Symposium. As a staff member, I had the opportunity to see firsthand just how much effort goes on behind the scenes, and watching everything come together was really rewarding. The entire team is extremely dedicated, supportive, and collaborative, and I've loved being a part of it." 3️⃣ What do you think makes Fusion different from other organizations in this space? "I think Fusion stands out because of its strong focus on people. The organization places a high value on its relationships with clients and partner organizations, demonstrates a deep commitment to its mission of serving the public sector, and fosters a team with a strong collaborative spirit." 4️⃣ Looking ahead, what excites you most about where Fusion is going? "I'm excited to see how Fusion continues to evolve and embrace new ideas. The organization is always reflecting on how we can improve and adapt to the changing times, and I'm excited to see what we do next." #50Stories #Fusion50 #Team

  • Is your team awesome? (here's the part where you click the "...more" button because they definitely are.) Then give them something to brag about! Submissions are open for awards that will be presented at the 2026 GovIT Leadership Summit & Symposium. We have 3 to choose from: 1️⃣Golden GOVIT - recognizes those that have advanced government technology through collaboration, innovation, service, and individual leadership 2️⃣PTI Solutions (PTI members only) - recognizes technology achievements in local government 3️⃣Alan R. Shark Leadership Award (PTI members only) - recognizes an execeptional local government tech leader So throw your team's hat in the ring. And tell them to throw your hat in there too. We want to see all the hats. By the way, submissions are free and you can even submit for multiple awards! • Artificial intelligence can deliver answers in seconds, but effective public leadership still requires something AI cannot provide: thoughtful judgment. As government agencies embrace AI to improve efficiency and service delivery, leaders face the growing challenge of resisting the pressure to make decisions as quickly as the technology generates recommendations. In a new commentary by Alan Shark published in GovTech, he explores why curiosity, deliberation, and even occasionally procrastination remain essential leadership skills, arguing that the best government decisions are not necessarily the fastest, but those that are carefully considered. #PTI #GovTech #AI #GovIT #Leadership

  • When a bad actor gets through your firewalls and the lights go out, what's the first thing you should do? Well...turn the lights back on.💡 Ryon Saenz, acting CIO for the City of Alexandria, VA, goes over a checklist of a few things that you need to be aware of to make your organization more resilient when it comes to cybersecurity. Because it's no longer about IF a cyber event happens, it's about WHEN a cyber event happens, and how quickly you can turn the lights back on afterwards. • Government IT leaders and headwear collectors have one thing in common: they both wear a lot of hats (dad joke). From the challenge of letting go of day-to-day work as you move into executive roles, to the quiet trap of low-impact, high-effort requests, the discussion surfaced hard-won wisdom that you wouldn't find in any college textbook. Add in a lively debate on AI strategy, a surprise California SaaS tax, and a story about a county administrator who challenged someone to a basketball game over a shade of red, and you've got yourself a CGCIO™ article. • Big news, everyone! 🥁 PTI just made stacking memberships a thing...and it's kind of a big deal. But what does that even mean? It means we've teamed up with some of your favorite regional government IT organizations to take your regional membership national. Here's how it works: keep all the benefits of the regional organization you already know and love, then stack a PTI membership on top for an 85% discount and unlock PTI's robust national community, including: ☑️ Access to exclusive forums, case studies, and articles ☑️ Discounts on PTI's education, events, and consulting ☑️ Members-only webinars and newsletters ☑️ Members-only awards recognition ☑️ And much more! So if you're part of a regional organization and curious what a national PTI membership could do for your community (and your benefits package), there's never been a better time - or price - to find out. Thank you to our partners in stacking: Western Regional Innovation and Technology Alliance Municipal Information Systems Association of California Minnesota Counties Computer Cooperative #PTI #Membership #WRITA #MISAC #MNCCC #GovIT #Teamwork #Community
