75 Stories for 75 Years | Growing Up at Stiles | Story 20 For cousins Madison Tidwell and Cole Hernandez, Stiles has been part of their lives for as long as they can remember. As children, they looked forward to one of Stiles' most beloved traditions: Halloween. 🎃 Every department transformed its office into elaborate themed experiences, complete with haunted houses, costumes, and friendly competition. Madison, along with her brother Jake and cousins Cole and Anna, even had the honor of judging the annual contest. 👉 "Everyone was smiling, laughing, and excited to show off what they had worked on. Looking back, that experience really showed me what being part of a family-owned company is all about. One group turned their space into Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, with decorations everywhere - it was so fun to see. Another group recreated Disney’s Haunted Mansion. They had us sit in rolling chairs and pushed us around the office, as if we were on a ride moving through a haunted house.” – Madison Tidwell Cole remembers the same tradition from a different perspective. 👉 "I remember walking through the different haunted houses, trick-or-treating in my Halloween costume. At the end all the kids voted on their favorite for best costumes and decorations. I may be new to the company professionally, but Stiles has always been a part of my life." – Cole Hernandez Today, both cousins have come full circle, building careers at the same company where they once wandered the halls as children, following the footsteps of their uncle, CEO Kenneth Stiles. 👉 “I didn’t fully realize it at the time, but your co-workers – who you sometimes spend more time with than your own family – become a part of your support system. It's about creating opportunities for the next generation of real estate leaders. This summer, interns from across the company experienced firsthand what makes Stiles special. For some, it was seeing how hundreds of people within a fully integrated real estate company come together. For others, it was gaining hands-on experience, learning from mentors, and discovering an industry that will shape their future. Ryan Vainder, a Financial Services intern, saw the power of Stiles' integrated platform as he rotated through multiple divisions. 🔊 "Seeing many departments for a few days at a time ingrained the company's values in me. Along the way, I realized what 'the only real estate company you'll ever need' really means. You can't learn that from the outside. You have to watch one firm design it, finance it, build it, and run it all together." I quickly realized I couldn't do it alone. That's when I connected with Deborah E. Harris from our IT team. She went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed, patiently answering my questions and helping me feel confident instead of overwhelmed. More than a year later, I still think about the impact that support had on my transition. It's one of the reasons I love working at Stiles. 75 Stories for 75 Years | Story 10 Stiles is celebrating 75 years and somehow, I’m already leaving a small mark on its history. I’ve only been here a few months but after 20 years in the construction industry, this is the first time I truly feel at home. In just a short time, I’ve experienced what makes this place different and why employees don’t want to leave. I was welcomed immediately like family at the annual company picnic, and I had the opportunity to represent Stiles at a career fair at the University of Florida, sharing this incredible industry with the next generation. Last month, I shared the stage during #WomeninConstruction Week alongside true powerhouses who are paving the way for women in this field. I also spent the day helping build confidence and community with kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. 75 years of Stiles reminds me that the greatest things we build aren’t just buildings. They’re people, opportunity, and community.
