⚾ Baseball and softball season is in full swing, but which injuries most often send players to the doctor? We analyzed more than 22,000 baseball- and softball-related injury encounters. Face and head injuries were the most common, followed closely by upper-extremity injuries. Younger children experienced the highest proportion of face and head injuries, while concussions were most common among players ages 14 to 18. 🤔 Could GLP-1 medications influence alcohol-related outcomes? Today, a new study was published in BMJ Open using Truveta Data analyzed more than 40,000 adults with alcohol use disorder and either type 2 diabetes or obesity. We sat down with one of the study's co-authors, Hemalkumar Mehta, PhD to learn what they uncovered. Researchers found that patients who initiated newer GLP-1 receptor agonists, including semaglutide and tirzepatide, had lower rates of alcohol-related emergency department visits and hospitalizations than those receiving alternative treatments. As of June 30, more than 8% of all US prescriptions were for GLP-1s, according to the latest GLP-1 monitoring report from Truveta Research. Prescriptions for GLP-1s have increased 5.6% since our last report. Tirzepatide remained the leading anti-obesity and anti-diabetic medication by prescription volume and saw the largest increase in prescribing. Following its FDA approval in April, prescribing of the Foundayo pill also continued to grow 📈 Meanwhile, first-time anti-obesity semaglutide prescribing declined 13.3% from March to June, after rising more than 50% during the previous quarter. 🔗 Read the full report: https://tr.vet/4b2wwMr

Shortly after the FDA approved oral semaglutide in December 2025, oral orforglipron (sold as Foundayo) was approved on April 1, 2026. We looked at emergency department visits for e-bike and e-scooter related injuries, and the results revealed that these type of injuries are experiencing a steep incline. We found that related emergency department visits among children and adolescents increased 671% from 2023 to May 2026. Head and neck injuries were among the most common, underscoring the importance of helmet use and continued injury prevention efforts.
