  • Moda: a design workspace 😮💨

I seem to be stumbling upon a lot of design tools lately, and each one is more impressive than the last! 🤩 Today's find is Moda.app ✨ At first glance - oh, it’s another AI design platform, but spend a few minutes, then you realize it's more of a design workspace (tadaahh 🎊) You can set up your own brand kit, create design spaces, and generate different design formats - from social media to HTML documents, intact with source code and everything. 📢 Things I liked ✅ Ample free credits that renew every month ✅ Brand kits for consistent outputs ✅ Supports HTML, PDF, PNG, JPG, and ZIP exports ✅ Import PDFs, PPTXs, and images as starting points ✅ Detailed controls for branding and marketing requirements ✅ Includes API and MCP integrations for advanced automation workflows ❌ Minor issue: If you manually tweak a design and then ask the AI to add new elements, the positioning goes a little off and requires manual adjustments. Overall, Moda shows a good balance between AI generation and customization. The outputs were clean, the features felt thoughtful, and the monthly free credits make it easy to explore without feeling rushed. So yayy! Here, try it out 👉 https://moda.app/ #AIDesign #GenerativeDesign #DesignSystems #DesignAutomation #AIAutomation

Over the past couple of weeks, I've been toying with my personal #HermesAgent from Nous Research. It behaves like your own personal employee, and the best part is that it grows along with you through the RL-layer, which makes this agent stand out specifically! This weekend, I built a unit economics modeling skill that turns "we think it costs ~$X" into a defensible, auditable cost model. What it does: - Decomposes every step of your value chain: raw materials → direct manufacturing → logistics → SG&A allocation → retail channel → tax  - Sources real cost data (not benchmarks): factory wages by country, container freight rates, tariff schedules, 10-K SG&A splits, contractor margins  - Produces three deliverables: a financial model (markdown), an ASCII flowchart (terminal-ready), and an SVG diagram (presentation-ready)    Why automotive/manufacturing folks would care: Typical Problem - "Our BOM says $42 but finance says $68" - Supplier quotes keep rising - New program quoting - Make vs. buy decisions What This Skill Solves - Reconciles BOM + labor + overhead + logistics + SG&A into one truth - Models exactly which cost buckets move (materials vs. freight vs. tariffs) - Builds should-cost from first principles before RFQ - Quantifies contractor margin (5-8%), overhead absorption, volume leverage Real example: Modeled a $130 Nike running shoe → only $18.63 (14%) goes to physically making+moving it. The brand machine (marketing + R&D + G&A) consumes $26.09. Nike keeps $17.24. The moat isn't manufacturing — it's the SG&A structure that justifies 3.5x physical cost. Same methodology applies to: - EV battery pack should-cost (cell → module → pack → BMS → thermal) - Chassis/body-in-white stamping + welding + paint - Motor/e-drive unit (rotor, stator, inverter, gearbox) If you're: a sourcing manager quoting programs or an entrepreneur building a hardware business — this changes how you talk about cost. DM if you'd like to give this skill.md a try. Illustrations created using Moda #UnitEconomics #Manufacturing #Automotive #SupplyChain #CostModeling #HardwareStartups #ShouldCost #MarginAnalysis

I am a presentation junkie, and Moda just won my heart. Visual story-telling is a crowded space. I lived in PowerPoint and Google Slides at work. I experimented on Prezi with fervor. I tested Gamma like an AI-pilled fangirl. I even gave Claude for PowerPoint a shot (it's not good, don't do it). I tentatively gave Moda a try after a friend told me about it. A few things stood out to me about Moda: I was impressed how they captured my client's brand template so accurately just from their website. I was shocked by how fast it was. Talk about lowering friction. I love that the UI and editing experience feels familiar like Gslides or PPT. It was easy to edit without needing to re-learn a new navigation. I appreciate that they have a more opinionated objective-based "Design Plan" menu. It feels more guided and less like a blank canvas where I had to prompt / give context from scratch. Didn't expect to become a convert after first use, but Moda, you got me! I can't wait to try more presentation and design use cases with it. Anyone else tried Moda yet?

  • Every day we learn about cool new ways people use our product. 😇 What a time to be alive!

I just got off a call with one of our customers, and I'm still processing what he told me: he turned an 8-hour call into 150 slides overnight. Clarence Chio, CEO of Coverbase, was running a live POC meeting last week. They sell to banks, insurers, and large fintechs. Mid-presentation, he realized one of his slides was wrong. So he prompted Moda to fix it while he was still talking. By the time he advanced to that slide, it was already updated. That's not even the part that surprised me most. Coverbase was in a multi-day POC with a customer. They had 8 hours of content that they needed to convert into slides. Clarence dropped the session transcript into Moda and it made over 100 slides for them to use. It worked. He called it "a little risky." I called it insane. The good kind. Before this, he built rough slides himself, sent them to a designer, then got back something that looked nice but never quite encapsulated his ideas.  Now, the work that used to cost him $40k/year now happens inside of Moda.  His design team no longer does slide design, focusing on product and brand. The go-to-market team is self-sufficient. This is what I keep telling people about where AI in design is actually going. It's not "type a prompt, get a deck." It's the work happening in the background while you're already in the room. Thank you, Clarence, for surprising me with what my own product could do! Read the full case study below.

I’ve been using Moda for my design projects lately, and honestly, it’s been a game-changer for my workflow. It makes staying on-brand so much easier, and the conversational approach to editing designs is incredibly intuitive. If you’re tired of starting from scratch on every presentation or social post, I highly recommend giving them a look! Plus, their team support is fantastic—they’ve been super helpful with my specific branding needs 😉. #Design #AI #Productivity #Moda

Adobe released their MCP today and well... it's left a lot to be desired. One of the many quantifiable signals showing that incumbents have an incredible advantage in today's world. Connector Tools Cost (est. total if fully loaded) Adobe: ~25,000 tokens (uniform — most are template-repeat image ops) Canva: ~ 20,000 tokens (every tool has mandatory-rules preamble + user_intent) Moda: ~ 7,000 tokens (one giant start_design_task, rest are thin CRUD) Try Moda: https://lnkd.in/g2Mb7Mic

Oh the duality in SF… Who knew humans would be such a hot debate in 2026 🥵 (Also these were taken not even 24hrs apart from each other) I personally don’t think AI is at a point to run on its own. It still needs human guidance. When I use Claude co-work or Moda it gets my projects about 75-80% there depending on how well I prompt. But I’m still there to guide the process seeing things through my lense, not just a generic marketing lense. AI is a great tool to make you 3-10x your current skill level I would be more concerned about the human using ai tools taking your job versus AI, but that’s just my ✌️cents #sfbillboards #Futureofwork #techjobs #sf
