𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗠𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁! Menopause Asia made the Women of Wearables list of 100 Trailblazing Leaders in menopause, and I am taking a moment to celebrate this. 🎉 Because the women on this list are the ones I follow, read, watch, and learn from. Tamsen Fadal, who somehow makes all of this so easy to understand and who gave us The M Factor - two documentaries that women around the world can actually host and screen in their own communities. Mary Claire Haver, MD , whose podcast interviews I have shared with everyone I know. Lisa Mosconi and her brain research that completely changed how I think about this stage of life. Louise Newson, Denise Pines, Jessica Shepherd, and Joanna Strober (who have made menopause care accessible to hundreds of thousands). Women who have built real things that have reached real women at scale. These are women I dream of meeting one day. And somehow, Menopause Asia ended up on the same list as theirs. I'm not going to pretend that doesn't mean something. It really does. But what was equally meaningful to seeing the big names, was seeing the names I didn't recognise. Because that means there are women out there, in their own corners of the world, quietly doing this work. Reaching one woman at a time. In their own language, their own culture, their own community. Doing the important work of menopause awareness, education and support. I know many of these wonderful women in this part of the region: Theresa Lovelin and Kelly Yamamoto of Magnolia Collective Wellness, Grace Oh of Sol (Spring of Life). Valery Tan of Surety - Midlife & Menopause Management are a few I know and respect. Many thanks to Lindsay DAVIS of FemTech Association Asia and Maaike Steinebach of FemTech Future Limited - for the work they do elevating voices like ours in this region, for helping shape the femtech ecosystem here in Asia, and for making sure that what's happening on the ground in Southeast Asia is seen on a global stage. Proud and grateful to share that NNABI co-founders EJ Kim and Marina Pen have been named to Women of Wearables’ 100 Trailblazing Leaders in Menopause list. 💙 This is the second year our founders have been recognized as trailblazers in this space, and it means a lot, not because recognition is the goal, but because the work still matters deeply. The perimenopause and menopause space is evolving, thankfully. More conversations are happening. More companies are entering. More women are finally hearing language for what they have been experiencing for years. But more information does not always mean better information. Women in Peri still need clearer education, more credible guidance, and solutions that reflect the complexity of this life stage. Especially now, as the conversation around HRT continues to grow, we believe it is important to make space for the full reality of perimenopause: Some women may not yet qualify for HRT. Some may not want it. Some may want it and use it, and still need whole-body support for sleep, mood, energy, libido, stress, inflammation, digestion, and more. That is where NNABI continues to focus. Perimenopause is not one symptom. It is a multi-system shift. And women deserve support that is just as thoughtful, comprehensive, and specific as what they are navigating. Six years into building NNABI and two years in the market, this recognition feels energizing because it reminds us that we are part of something much bigger — a movement pushing for better education, better solutions, and a future where women in Peri are no longer left to figure it out alone. This week I was invited to speak at a global financial institution about menopause through a cultural lens 🌍 And it genuinely felt like a bit of a milestone moment for me. I speak about menopause and women’s health a lot in between my clinical commitments. BUT it’s the first time I’ve been invited to speak not just about “universal menopause” (because there’s actually no such thing) but specifically about menopause and how it affects women from global majority communities. The cultural barriers, stigma, differences in symptom experiences, healthcare inequalities, and the conversations that often don’t happen. What was really heartening to see was the room being completely full, with some people standing at the back, and colleagues dialling in from international offices around the world 🌎 The other thing that stood out to me was that the audience in the room was predominantly white, yet incredibly engaged. The questions were thoughtful, meaningful and genuinely centred around understanding not only menopause itself, but also what better support for employees could and should look like. Because the reality is, there is no such thing as a “one-size-fits-all” menopause conversation. Culture matters, as does stigma and representation. And maybe that’s the bigger shift here. Not just that organisations are finally ready to have culturally competent conversations around menopause… …but that they’re FINALLY starting to understand why they matter. 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐝. Healthcare systems rely on timing, and so do workplaces. Reviews, performance cycles, and career progression are all structured around predictable timelines. Menopause does not follow those timelines. It is a transition that often sits outside formal checkpoints. Many women are assessed as “on track” in their late 40s, and then within a few years, something shifts. Sleep changes, energy fluctuates, and cognitive load can feel heavier. At the same time, underlying health risks begin to evolve. These changes are not always visible and are rarely discussed, but they are often felt in day-to-day functioning. In workplaces, this creates a quiet mismatch. Expectations remain stable, but the internal experience is changing. When this shift is not recognised, it can be misinterpreted as disengagement, reduced capability, or inconsistency, rather than understood as part of a broader and predictable transition. Recent government investment suggests this gap is beginning to be recognised. In Australia, approximately $26 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, alongside a broader investment of $64.5 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 2025–26 aimed at improving access to specialist perimenopause and menopause care. An additional $12.8 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. This signals a shift in how menopause is being acknowledged at a systems level. It recognises that timing matters, that transitions matter, and that existing structures have not fully accounted for either. Workplaces face a similar opportunity. This is not about medicalising employees, but about recognising that capacity is not fixed across a 40-year career. Systems built on constant output can miss predictable human change. When timing and understanding align, both health and performance are better supported. We need more awareness among employers, providers, investors, and women themselves. • Employers have a major role to play by expanding benefits, improving benefits literacy, and helping normalize conversations around menopause. • We also need better physician education, reimbursement pathways, claims infrastructure, and longitudinal data to support more proactive, personalized care. What was most energizing was the shared commitment across providers, employers, investors, innovators, and advocates to drive change together. When expertise, content, and commerce exist within the same ecosystem, the lines between education, recommendation, and marketing can become increasingly difficult to separate. For years, menopause was whispered about. Now it’s front-page news — and rightly so. In just the past few months alone, we’ve seen: → new non-hormonal menopause treatments rolled out on the NHS → major research into menopause and brain health → growing evidence linking menopause with cardiovascular and metabolic health → increased focus on workplace menopause support and healthcare inequalities → global conversations finally recognising that midlife women’s health is not “niche” — it’s essential. And honestly? It’s about time. 10 years ago, when I founded The Latte Lounge after my own experience of debilitating perimenopause and years of misdiagnosis, these conversations were nowhere near where they are today. What began as one woman searching for answers became a global community supporting more than 100,000 women navigating midlife, menopause, careers, caregiving, relationships, identity, health, confidence, and reinvention. Over the last decade, one thing has become crystal clear: Menopause is never just about hormones. It’s connected to: ✔ brain health ✔ heart health ✔ sleep ✔ nutrition ✔ mental wellbeing ✔ workplace inclusion ✔ confidence ✔ relationships ✔ longevity ✔ economic participation Midlife women deserve evidence-based information, better advocacy, and a seat at every table where decisions are being made. That mission is exactly why I wrote Midlife Matters — bringing together 45 world-leading experts to create the resource I wish had existed when I was struggling. And it’s also why I’m stepping into an exciting new chapter. After 10 incredible years leading The Latte Lounge as a non-profit community platform, I’m evolving my work to focus fully on advocacy, consulting, mentoring, speaking, and helping organisations better understand and support the most powerful and underserved demographic in the world: midlife women.
